    Overall, the 660 is still a viable purchase in 2022 compared to others in the category. No Mute On Tuning is Excellent, allowing you to get on frequency fast. The receiver shines on Shortwave, and the Medium Wave Bands.

    Another great Band Scan. I wrote down (what I could decipher) the stations you picked up and repeat this Band Scan with my PL-680 and see what I get in my part of the country.

    Awesome radio and review! I switch between this one and the PL-330! Both radios do the job for me as a casual MW/SW listener and they both include SSB, which is pretty neat for their price point.

    I wish more people would demonstrate the slow tuning you do. I got a much better idea of what this radio can do. I am fighting to hear anything at all where I live. Thanks for taking your time.

    I have many radios that cost a lot more than this but this 1 is 1 of my favorite and easiest to use. When hooked up to my MLA 30 + antenna this is my go to setup for listening to the world from South Portland Maine.

      I have the same antenna. I need to get it outside, and have the ability to turn it remotely.

    I think the tecsun pl 660 radio is a very good device, I have some experiments with this radio on my channel.

    Another awesome review! I was just going to ask if you have ever picked up any stations in the Chippewa Falls/Eau Claire, WI area and then heard you mention WAYY-790! When I was a kid growing up in that area, 790 was WEAQ which has since moved to AM 1150. Have you ever been able to get WCFW 105.7 in Chippewa Falls? That is a real gem of an FM station. It’s 25,000 watts, but I can only get in my car when I get up near the Osseo area of WI. I noticed you seem to get AM station of lower wattage further away, so not sure how AM/FM wattage differs in distance and signal strength. Keep up the great work. Love your reviews!

      MW carries great distances at night. FM is fairly localized unless there is an Atmospheric Inversion.

    After trying out the eton elite executive I realized that it was too difficult to tune SSB. I landed on the pl-680 due to the separate SSB fine tuning knob. Really smooth radio.

    How do you think the PL-660 does on MW versus other portables?

  • @Korium84

    Here's a question no one has been able to answer for me. A radio small enough to be a bed side clock radio with cd, fm, am, sw, and weather at the minimum and good performance. Made within the last eh 20 years. Maybe 25.

    • @user-cj7zl5jc6i
      @user-cj7zl5jc6i Před 2 lety

      You aren't gonna be able to find that, they dont even really make clock radios anymore, much less with sw

    • @RJDA.Dakota
      @RJDA.Dakota Před 2 lety

      @@user-cj7zl5jc6i they still make clock radios but usually only with the fm band. Very unfortunate. I saw a GE at a Walgreens and it had an FM band I didn’t see a MW on it. Buy a PL 330. It has the FM, MW and SW coverage so you can wake up to most any station. The CD part of the operation was given up on a time back. I wish they put SD recording on more of these little radios.

    Have this radio and I am not happy with it, it eats batteries and I don't like the memo programing my little Sihudon R-108 is much better and it have a rechargeable battery, but it has no SSB.
