Hi Samantha Iv just managed to get a new Tecsun PL-660 radio it’s on its way, I’m so looking forward to receiving it, can’t Waitrose watch your video on how to hack it so I can try it out 😊❤️
Great news, I have my Tecsun PL-660 in my bag all the time. There are other videos explaining this hack and say to cut the wire but you really dont have to as a bit of tape does the same thing without damage. Its much quieter than the P-SB 7and 11 and there are more band to use. The airband is the only band that wont scan but there isnt much on there anyway. All i get on airband is ground control at the airport up the road. The build quality on these is great and the same cant be said for the P-SB 7 and 11. The hack is easy but very small to work at, abit like brain surgery lol. I think you will enjoy this radio because of all the different scans you can do on it. Feel free to use the video to get your radio going after all i got the information came from others out there, its no secret. ITC is about sharing ideas and learning ideas from each other.
Glad you managed to hack it. The one i had I did a few mods like a switch to turn off the hack. Blue led mod on the display and removed some rf filters which was a pain but made it more responsive. The 600 660 and 680 all have the same boards and can be hacked the same. There are also a few cheaper models which can be sorta hacked. And one cheaper one which has a mute hack the same as this. I'll need to look up the model of it. For the price of this one though it's still cheaper than buying a rare shack hack model even the wee tiny one goes for like 200 pounds up 😮 and this does all the standard and side bands. I could never get air band to work for some reason. Would be fun trying it on sub Fm bands
I bought the PL-360 when i seen it in your video but didnt realise that its a different hack, Is it difficult to do? Really pleased with the 660 though. You had a video of the walkie talkie with the fm radio and i just bought it to see what its like. I know you have to keep the botton pressed but im sure a switch can possibly be added. I found your channel through Ghosts of Britian who were using Paratek so i wanted to find out more and thats when i found the 660 hack video and a friend gave me the radio the week before so i was really happy about that.
@@lifeafterlifeproductions I've worked on a few tecsuns. They all can be hacked or semi successful which I would class as not ideal but usable. With the other one there is a little black thermistor chip near the display and close to the tune wheel. You can solder a wire to one leg of the thermistor then the wire going to one of the outer pins on the tune wheel. This allows the device to force scan using the pulse voltage from the thermistor which has a refresh pulse of around 200ms. And triggers the wheel as if you are manually turning it. It will sweep in 2 ways. Ether in ETM mode where it only scans stored stations. Or the full band on any mode am fm sw. It has a weird sweep this way. Not as nice as the 660 but kinda works OK
Really awesome radio some of them are £300 Iv been on eBay but it’s hard to get hold of them radios, Iv got a few radios but not like that one hopefully I might be able to check if I can hack them it’s a lot cheaper than buying a one that’s already hacked, thank you for the tip x❤️😊
Yea i seen one with a price tag of over £350 and then i seen one around £85 so there not cheap but the quality is great and hacking it is really easy after trying to forget that this is an expencive radio and im taking a screwdriver to it but its easy except its abit like doing brain surgery. you have to cut a piece of tape about 2mm in size and stick it on a tiny wire. The sound quality is great on this thing so you dont need external speakers. Im lucky as someone gave me the radio because if you think about it, its more expencive than a P-SB 7 but i think its better quality and will last longer. If it does the job better, remains to be seen.
With this you get multi band and you can scan them all except AIR BAND, but i will try it out in a few videos. I have tried it out at home and i like it better than my P-SB 11 but we will see over time.
The retail price for a new one should be around £120 thereabouts there is a more expensive one the Pl 680 which is 200 upwards. There are a few on ebay second hand. 80 odds but it's a fab one for ghost boxing. One of my best sessions was with this model 😊
Good morning, sorry, 😁. I have an R-108 radiwow. Do you know this radio? Is there any way to make the change? It has two scan modes, fast and slow, it would be fine, but the mute should be removed and not stopped at each station. Do you have solutions? Thank you so much
Yes they come in grey and black and about £120 which is expensive but i found out of all my boxes, it was my favourite right up until i bought the Radio shack 12-808 but if i go to a location and the radio shack isnt getting results i will most likely try this one. I have had great results with this box.
One thing I hate on radios like the psb7 is the horrible static noise it's so loud lol I think apps like necrophonic and spiritus are good and they don't use radio static it's off putting lol
The psb 7 is bad and the psb11 is even worse. I have a few hacked radios that were never designed as spirit boxes and are much quieter. I dont know what apps are made up of so i dont use them and prefer the radios as i worked with them years ago. Saying that i see people get great responces on apps

Is this radio good ? it's just I seen it on eBay brand new but not hacked and it's grey but yours is black in colour ?

I noticed during the test scanning the radio stations i heard a spirit at 5:28 saying "archie" and at 5:40 i heard the word "competition" .
