  • The Tecsun PL-660 radio continues to impress with its SW SSB and MW capability during this evening band scan. A fantastic portable receiver with HAM listening in mind.

Decent radio. I would consider the PL-660 if I didn't already have a PL-880 and Eton Executive Satellit. Thanks for sharing.

That Satellit has similar key configurations as my Grundig G5. I wonder if it's Degen manufactured? I may look into reviewing one of those in the future. The G5 and the Satellit.

"..Thunderbolts and lightnings very very frighting me.." :) Nice video Pete with a nice portable . In the future, it will be remembered as one of the best affordable (I remark this) portables.

Thank you Marcos, I have another radio coming...now that I have my HAM license I'm finding it difficult to budget :) I plan to keep it simple, learn CW and try some low cost TXers.

Thank you Tam, I'm keeping this radio...it is killer on the SW. I have other radios for the Airband :)

The last radio I had that does what this one does cost me almost $300.00. I`m very surprised at how good the AM reception is. It`s a joy to tune because of the lack of muting. I hope mine lasts. Can`t wait until I get moved and am able to connect a proper antenna to this and my CCrane EP PRO. I`ll make some videos when I do to show the results. WOW, I have a lot of radios now because of watching these videos! LOL! The good thing is that after the recent hurricanes I had radios to share with my unprepared neighbors.

Thank you for the band scans! Are there any radios that I can listen to California AM radio stations from the other states?

Hello sir, between the pl-660 & pl-680, which is better in SW band?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi. Would you mind making another video about this radio? After these 3 years I guess you have some strong opinions about it.
I just ordered it (at a steep import tax...) and can't wait to dive into the SW world.

Todderbert, The tuning looks smooth on the PL-660. I have the PL-380 which has stops at each frequency, and mute while tuning. Does the PL-660 do that also, or is it like the PL-380. That is the one thing I don't like about the PL-380. I guess I like analog tuning, but want the digital readout.
Thanks for all your reviews. You really hold my interest.

Your Welcome John. When your manually tuning the radio it does not mute. VF browsing mutes as it tunes, so does the ATS feature. Manually tuning doesn't jump bands, it covers everything as well as the auto scans.

Yes, when indoors I like to use a wire that is strung out to my balcony. It is a simple 22' wire.

89 bucks used from kaito's refurb page on eBay. Too easy. You're lucky picking up Japanese shows, the most I get is review brah, UFO Joe, Chinese and Cuban propoganda etc
