If you work out every single day you will be damaging your muscles instead of growing them.

    I did 100 squats today. I am going to do the 30 day challenge.
    One like one prayer for me
    Update:
    i took measurements before and after and i noticed a small change. My legs weren’t necessarily sore but i could definitely feel a change. I feel much stronger. Towards the middle I decided to add weight (6 pounds). I i do feel like there was a little bit of progress, i see more muscle in my legs. I know people will ask about my butt, I didn’t notice a big change in my measurements and it didn’t look much different.
    -was it worth it? Yes absolutely. It didn’t take me much time out of my day, i saw some progress and felt a lot better
    Hope this helps!!

I decided to do this as it seemed realistic and to this day it’s the only challenge I’ve stuck to but it proved to me that I could do it and it basically kickstarted a whole weight loss and fitness journey for me and here I am two years later 50lbs down feeling and looking better than ever and I love the gym now but most importantly I’m properly healthy for the first time ever :)

    For complete newbies finding 100 squats intimidating, try breaking it up into smaller sets of either 10, 20, 25, 50 etc and take 3 - 5 mins rest between sets and do what you can.
    If you're sore the next day, take a day to recover and go easier than last time by introducing more sets with lower reps and add some more rest between sets.
    While doing bodyweight squats won't make you super-swole, it's a good starting point and you'll see the benefits when combined with 30 - 60 mins of low intensity cardio and haveing a balanced diet.

      It becoming habit and your body getting used to it is a bad thing if you really want to make a difference long term. You'll plateau and stop seeing changes once that stuff happens. You have to shock your muscles by changing what you do consistently (every few weeks) to continue to see changes... unless you don't want that, then keep doing the same ol'. You'll at the very least get some good endurance.

    this is actually a very good exercise, for an older guy like me i need this not for outward appearance but for leg muscle strength. i live where i have to go down a lot of stairs and when ever i go to the main road above i feel so tired and catching my breath and literally have to pull myself up with the hand rails near the top. after a few weeks of doing squats, climbing those stairs for me was no longer a burden, i feel like going down and running back up a few more times but this time...effortlessly. watching exercise videos just motivates me to continue.

    This just gonna be a comment in reply to the people arguing over if squats work quads or glutes.
    There is a fun little test you can do with what your squats will work. Squat and hold and if quads get sore first then you’re quad dominant, if your glutes and hammies get sore first then you’re glute dominant. Nothing wrong with either one, you can do different pelvic tilt to work the two different parts. You should find tho that doing glute dominant can translate to some big leg strength gains cause more of the muscles of your legs are working.

  • @RiDankulous
    @RiDankulous Před 2 lety +3

    I'm going 100 reverse lunges per leg every other day, with some days down at 50 or 75 per leg. The day break gives the legs time to grow, and that is a common strategy in resistance training. I am definitely much stronger. I wasn't real strong to start, but since I am on a whole food-plant based diet, my body fat level is on the below average side so I can definitely see definition on most body areas, including the legs.
    Leg strength is very important in aging people and I'm 53. It is the largest muscles in the body and increased muscle mass translates to increased metabolism. In addition, aging people can benefit from combating the age related muscle mass decline. Finally, injury from accidents or falls will be decreased since the body can more readily protect itself during the fall, plus bone strength increases during resistance training.

      Ali Coutinho I think a common misconception is that toning means becoming smaller, but it's actually building muscle and "replacing" aka shrinking fat cells. Squats will make your legs tighter, for sure, but if you want a tight butt, big or not, squats do not target your bum. They do hit your butt some, but the focus is quads with a bit of hamstrings.

    Squats aren’t made for your butt. If you want a bigger butt, do deadlifts and hip extensions as well as other exercises for your flutes. If you want bigger stronger legs though, squats are probably the best.

    In a normal squat workout, I always hit 200 reps. The QUALITY is that ensure the crease by my hips always drops lower than the crease behind my knee. In addition, the opposing muscles in my legs are identical in strength on all 4 sides of the legs. The legs are also treated as slow twitch muscle fibers so the get double the reps and my upper body (fast twitch fibers). this is why "adding weight" must be uniform but also in relation to the rest of the body.

    there's no actual point in working out the same muscle every single day without rest. muscle grows and gets progress during rest, and working out every single day even if it's only one move just increases the cortisol (stress) hormone levels in your body. it's not healthy

      meri They're nor working out at nearly the intensity or volume to reach overtraining. Perhaps it wouldn't be 100% optimal (maybe every other day for bodyweight squats and really focusing on diet would be better) but you can still get results by doing squats, push ups, pull ups etc everyday (for at least a little bit)

      to develop muscle quickly you need to do max reps of an exercise, you gain more muscle by working them when theyre repairing because the rips in muscles rip even more

    • @MultiBigbird01
      @MultiBigbird01 Před 6 lety +18

      Exactly. Exercising, especially squats causes tissue damage, and your body requires time to repair that damage before you can go and do that same exercise again.

      TheCubanchica250 for me, squats hits my glutes more than my quads. I think they're a quad exercise when your quads are stronger than your glutes. I push through with my heel and stay back behind my toes and feel it in my butt.

      Losing or gaining (or maintaining) doesn"t depend on the exercise but your diet. If you lift heavy weight but not enough to develop your muscles, you won't get bigger.
