I did 100 squats every day for 30 days! Wanna take the challenge too? Then watch this video to see how to properly do each squat...and to see what happened!

Look at the level of "real" she's on.. Like before uploading this video she knew her butt didn't grow bigger even by a centimetre but she still posted it. That's what I love the most about Cassey. I suggest reading the book HEALTH AT EVERY SIZE by Linda Bacon, which argues that our bodies, to a degree, do what they want despite our best intentions. This of course is not to say we won't benefit from eating the right foods and getting as much exercise as we can. Ms. Ho, I am sure you profited from those squats in ways the measuring tape does not reveal. However, like one's height or the shape of one's nose, we cannot necessarily spot-train everywhere we'd like to spot-train our physiques.

Glute isolation exercises on the other hand👍🏽
thats just not true, sure hip thrusts are great if that's what you're referring to, but that's also a compound exercise. Squats can really make your butt grow, and they will, as long as you overload consistently.
Ryan squats don’t exactly “grow” them it tones your muscles. It could give the appearance that they have grown but in actual fact it hasn’t really.
@@Jeheidin So i realise i was a bit hasty. Squats do develop your glutes, but the quads takes alot of the strain, and you end up with weak/small glutes comparably. Truth is that squats DON't fully stretch the glute muscles. But that doesn't leave squats as a completely useless exercises for glute development. But i genuinely do wonder which isolation exercises you're referencing.

Well... She lost weight... So she lost fat... So yeah
It may have gotten smaller but proportionally bigger compared to the rest of her. I don't know if you watched the whole thing but as she kept going her frame had more shape to it. Her waist may have shrank too. Or maybe it was the outfits. I don't know. I do know you need rest days and a change in diet to really beat your genetics like that. It CAN be done though. Without surgery. It also takes much more than 30 days and you can't stop once your goal is achieved. You need to maintain it once you've got it.

@@Jafs They do more quad work than glute work, yes, but they still help your glutes. To be exact, squats predominately work your butt (glutes) and thighs (hamstrings and quadriceps) but abs, obliques, lower back, calves, and the ankle complex all play supportive roles. Depending on what type of weight you’re using, how you’re holding it, and what squat variation you’re doing, it can end up being a total body exercise.
@@zammy0k squat is a total body exercise and it hits your glutes, but the point being it's a compound not an isolation exercise and there are isolation exercises for your glutes which will hit them substantially more.

I did 100 squats one day. Then the next day my legs started aching. It didn’t stop for 3 days ;-;

It’s called DOMS, Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. Your muscles were not used to the intense activity you put them through and they simply had to recover. They will now be stronger, both endurance and strength wise, and you will burn more calories at a resting state. Of course this change is relatively short but stay consistent, challenge yourself and change things up at times to keep yourself motivated

Not much is going to change after one month. It take yrs to get a "squat booty". It also depends on training style and eating habits. I don't know Cassie's diet, but alot of her training is dancer/Pilates style, and that will give you a much different body than say a fitness model.

I just realized this year how squats do nothing for my butt but definitely makes my thighs bigger. Abduction exercises help my booty gains. I’ve literally been doing 15 leg lifts back and to the side everyday for a little over a month and my butt grew a lot I can only imagine if I do it for gains now instead of me trying to maintain what I’ve gotten so far.
Your quads work with your glutes and your hamstrings, the only way to build muscle is to overeat and exercise. Exercising only maintains strength, eating until you feel sick will make you gain weight and exercising while doing it is how you gain muscle weight.

Girls, she did it WRONG! That's why it didn't work. The muscles need to rest at least 24 hours to grow, and you have to eat proteins.

....... Your butt is a muscle. However squats do tone your other muscles like your thighs so it isn't optimal for butt growth.

They will tone and/or lift your butt (as seen in the before and after pics even) Depending on the person, it could give the "illusion" of a bigger butt. In order to actually GROW your butt, you will have to use weights and train the muscles in and/or around the butt area*

All you need to do is look up glute/butt workouts that include weightlifting. If there is a specific look or part of your butt you want to target, you should look up the different muscles in and around the butt. Then look up weightlifting workouts that work that muscle :) I hope this helps
My favorite youtuber that does it is Elizabeth Zaks, but there are many others out there, I just like her personality and realistic views, etc.

It’s because these “challenges” are bs. As a trainer I don’t even acknowledge or entertain these when clients say they’ve done them. It takes consistency, HEAVY progressive overload, and consistent good diet, and you will see results. Btw I have a Korean client who had pancakes and was a 37inch hips as well now 2.5 years later she is at 41 inches, but it was it of blood and sweat to get there! Best of luck to you all

Yeah a lot of people say squats don't work, but just eating good.
I like the honesty and exactness of your "transformation". Doing a relatively light, 3-minute excercise and talking yourself into thinking that your butt (or whichever part of your body) undergoes a total change of shape and volume in a month is simply ridiculous, especially when people judge the result by shaky photos in different light, angle and clothes.

I think that what we should get from this challenge is how strong it made us even in times where we were dying and burning and crying and yelling. It's beautiful how our body can make it through hard stuff and be strengthened by it ♡

Definitely add weight to your squats will see a big difference along with lunges and deadlifts there are many different exercises to make your bigger solely relying on squats will do no good.

Squats aren’t the best way to grow it. Hip thrusts, deadlifts, lunges, split squats are. Dw what this person says above about shocking it. You need to do exercises that work and do them over and over again while increasing weight and eating more. Your butt will grow!!!

I have recorded test subjects in vacuum and hydro chambers, various environmental chambers and I understand the way the body grows right down to the microscopic level. My current degree is Anatomical Sciences. The only way for muscles to grow is through 3 mechanisms: 1. Muscle Tension 2. Muscle Damage 3. Metabolic Stress. and thus I urge you to understand that force + stress = shock. The OP asked about muscle growth I gave the lay-mans answer and it is a universally accepted one. if you are unsure you can always talk to a former Team GB coach which could also be me.(I am fully aware I sound like a complete phallus right now) . In essence you are agreeing with me without understanding. there are 5 or 6 exercises that will isolated the glutes really well. Also my glutes are gargantuan...

3 sets, 8-12 reps each
1 - 2 minute rest between each set
another muscle region every day because you muscle grow on the days of rest after the workout
instead of working out as much as possible, you just need to work out smart

Jess Layton i also used to do just bodyweight squats. I joined the gym three months ago and my butt grew A LOT
If you want to grow your butt a lot you need to do flute isolation and some weight, 100 squats per day won’t allow you butt to grow larger really it over exhausts the muscle so I can’t grow very big.
cutecheerfreak1 agree. also eat a lot of protein. your muscles can't grow without protein. maybe just a bit since you're a beginner but after that the progress stops
I love your explanation at the end about seeing/not seeing change. It's not just about the physical difference! I'm Vietnamese and growing up I didn't understand that everybody's body changed differently and that ethnic backgrounds can be a factor for what your body type was. I loved this challenge my butt didn't grow(i think) but man I felt strong, tone and tight. Who cares if I got a little booty it's a strong little booty. On Fridays I had to do 200 squats(Fridays and Saturdays squats) because my religion doesn't allow me to work on Saturdays so I was left sore for days. Maybe we can do this but with arms. I love working my arms and back pretty please Cassey?

The only thing I'd recommend would be adding weights to the squats, I personally just do biking to maintain my legs, but I don't actually really sit on the bike seat, it's all leg pumping.
From what I know, it sounds like you toned, and added endurance.
Regardless of all that, I appreciate your honesty, and am proud of you random person, for sticking to the challenge, and following through it.

Her butt got smaller, but that makes sense because usually fat distribution is in the rear, when you work out you'll get smaller first because of the diminishing fat, then you'll start to bulk up as you put on weight with muscle
Do it 4 or 3 times a week with rest days inbetween. This way you can be more persistent and give time to the body to change. Squatting everyday for 30 days will burn out a lot of muscle
