    • @andrdmosley
      @andrdmosley Před 2 lety +4

      He didn't try to weasel out of it... He made the point and stuck to it... He clearly said he believes LeBron could have focused more on defense than scoring and he believes that would have helped the team more... What he was talking about at the end was a direct response to Nick wright overblowing the argument and changing the narrative... Because Nick said Bron opted out of winning the title... Wilde's had to respond to that lie... It was clear he didn't opt out... He literally just couldn't play... Which is why Broussard made the point that even when they were still in playoff contention LeBron sat out against Phoenix... That point left Nick baffled and stumbling over his point because he was making the case that if the Lakers were still in contention then LeBron would have played the last two games... But if that's the case it doesn't explain why he didn't play against Phoenix... Unless he was really hurt and couldn't play and wouldn't have played regardless...

Scoring over 30 to increase your average is not easy to do even if you're trying to be the primary scorer. It would also make him look worse if he decided to score a ton after being eliminated obviously. Imo, he wanted the scoring title, but he realized playing meaningless games would hurt his image more.

    Why do y’all act like it’s impossible for LeBron to do something with ulterior motives? It’s not unfathomable…
    -He started the season in winning mode (spread the ball, shoot less to get AD involved) also chasing the all time record ,
    - saw they were losing, AD gets injured, started scoring to pick up the slack (whilst getting closer to the all time record as much as possible to make it easy for the future),
    - Sees and admits publicly they have no shot of wining it all (but he’s a competitor so he can always have a chance if there’s a chance) now sees the scoring title was an option and spends the rest of the season shooting more, also they wins more games when he scores more (If he gets it…great. Helps him with the goat case. If not it helps him in getting closer to the all time record.)
    - Injures his ankle but doesn’t rush back to play once they have been eliminated out of the playoffs. He could play for the scoring title but then that would reveal his motives and it’s petty stat to chase. without the chase for the play-in’s what was there to cover up that motivation? It would seem desperate. Scoring title in year 19 would have been nice but not a must…competitively why play through injury when there is no chance of playoffs…practically, he can rest up as much as possible and get himself ready for the next season. (A well rested LeBron is a good LeBron. The bubble showed that.)
    It’s not unrealistic. Why does someone have to be a hater because they acknowledge this is a possibility.

    The Lakers averaged more points per game than the Clippers but the Clippers finished 3 seeds higher. Why didn't LeBron's supposed infinite IQ inform him that scoring wasn't the issue? Why didn't he choose to sacrifice energy on offence for defensive tenacity for a change? Sounds to me like the actions of someone who was absolutely concerned more with scoring.

    No one is saying anything other than the truth: had Lebron played defense and cut back on his offensive push... its likely the Lakers would've fared better this season. When LBJ didn't play, someone else picked up those points. But what none of them (including Lebron) ever did all season (save for A.D. half the time - when he was available) was play defense and embed that into their approach.
    And Lebron (having a huge fan club - that includes N. Wright & S. Sharpe) was able to have a built-in media counter to spin it as "he had to score so much for them have a chance to win."
