Finally some Misfits. They‘re not a band, They‘re an era
2 Eras!
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Play some Danzig era Misfits pls!!!!
@@seanconnors1613 I'm glad you said 2 eras versus 3 and disregarded the abomination that is the Jerry Only era.
@@yp4506 Seriously. The Misfits are my favorite band, but Danzig. This is not the best introduction to this band, AT ALL.
Start with Hybrid Moments, in my opinion.
The Misfits were huge influences to any metal, grunge, and punk rock bands of the last 40+ years
They were a huge influence of cliff burton aka og bass player of metallica
R.i.p. cliff
Facts
Glen Danzig is the only misfit singer.
My mum got on a Ferry from England to Ireland, she saw some metal guys and thought it would be a good idea to say "My son dresses like you, like an idiot". They took it in good banter and my mum had a good talk to them, apparently they were in a band and after talking their ears off, my mum said "Go on then, tell me what band you're in, just in case my sons heard of you" it was the fucking Misfits. I checked the date of the ferry and they were in Ireland that weekend. My mum told me this like they were a unsigned band, Just some random guys she met.
yo wtf, this is like dream material
Very cool.
Mums are the great equalizer
Great reaction.. This is the "Graves Era" Misfits, which I very much enjoy, "Dig Up Her Bones" being one of my favorite tracks.....but if you want to go "O.G.", you have to go to the Danzig Era Misfits, more punk, or the incarnation of "whoa-whoa punk". The Danzig Era, or "The Original Misfits" really got me into the punk scene as a kid, and still remain a favorite band of mine to this day.
some might even say to have heard the misfits you have to go Danzig era.. i like a few songs off of american psycho. i saw this version live. i always wished mma fighter stephan bonnar would have come out to the title track for his fights.
I’m a big fan of the Graves era and love American Psyco, it’s probably the album of theirs I listen to the most. Graves era Misfits was also my first ever concert at the London Astoria II in the summer of ‘99. Happy days.
Graves era >
Danzig era is the best era
I am a Graves era fan myself, I love his voice and lyrics are mostly about B Horror flicks that I have seen, also i find the guitar riffs and drum beats were just faster and more aggressive than the danzig era, so yeah I like danzig era but for me I LOVE graves era.
"Saturday Night", "Dust to Dust", "Descending Angel", "Helena", "Fiend Club", all from the Famous Monster album. Great stuff. Misfits is the real deal!
this guy knows
Fuck yes!
Easily my favourite album of theirs!
I would add scream as well but yeah great album
I'll had Pumpkin Head, Forbidden Zone, Them, Hunting Humans... Famous Monsters plays like a greatest hits album.
90s Misfits was very different from the original 70s/80s version. They were originally a Ramones type of band with Elvis/Jim Morrison type vocals. You should try listening to London Dungeon but make sure you’re listening to the original single or the Collection I version. The later remix isn’t as powerful. They turned into a hardcore band by the end of their original run and the vocals took a backseat to aggression but they still put out one of the best hardcore records ever. You’d like their songs Where Eagles Dare (Collection 1 version), Die Die My Darling, and The Walk Among Us album.
Astro Zombies, TV casualty, One Last Caress, Halloween,
Yes, Alex would LOVE "Where Eagles Dare"! 😃
As much as I love the Ramones, the original Misfits created horror punk. Music about rapeing, killing, stabbing, etc. Their shows had dead animals and blood. I love both the Ramones and Misfits equally, I never thought of Misfits as a Ramone type band.
@@ThatWeirdPlaceInYT I wasn't saying the Ramones had anything to do with horror punk, although they occasionally mined the same subject matter in Pet Sematary, Chainsaw, and others. But the Ramones invented the very simple rapid downstroking power chords-style of punk that the Misfits did when they became a four-piece. They both were heavily influenced by 50s rock n' roll, as well as the Stooges and 60s garage bands. I actually like the Misfits' riffs a bit more but the Ramones had the chance to build up a large body of work so they have a lot of great riffs too.
@@thewannabeeye-talian8347 Best Misfits song, IMHO! Nah F that BEST SONG!
Michael Graves is a hell of a singer (and show man)His era (in the misfits) needs to stop being compared to Danzig era.Its apples and oranges
Well, that's what he's gonna get if they're gonna still call the band Misfits. Plus, he's a Proud Boy supporter, so he can get fucked.
@@colina1330 awwwww someone's feelings are hurt someone has an opinion that's different and hurts yours. Get over yourself
@@kyledudley5751 my feelings are intact, don't worry about me. I'll just forever believe that Danzig-era Misfits are superior to Graves-era Misfits. I still think the Proud Boys can get fucked, though.
Here's a video for you, brother. Listen to the Misfits' songs Last Caress and Green Hell, then listen to Metallica's remakes from Garage Days Re-Revisited. Back to back. James and Cliff were huge Misfits fans, and they've covered several of their songs live and on disc over the years. Welcome to the fold, my man. The Misfits were a phenom.
Metallica's version of Die Die My Darling is so damn good.
@@tomwisniewski8988 Agreed!
Halloween, All hell breaks loose , Death comes ripping , Hybrid moments , Vampira , and Skulls is a good bunch of Misfits songs you'll love
GOD I'VE LOVED THIS SONG FOR AGES
Edit - Michael Graves from Misfits also did a really nice acoustic cover of this you should check out :)
Also - more like the other way around - Graves and Misfits did a punk rock cover song of the song he wrote when he was in his teens and that was more like the acoustic version you're referring to.
More Misfits on the channel please. Some songs from the Danzig Era especially
Yes! Misfits fuckin rock! So many good songs, especially from the Danzig era.
Thanks for checking this out. This is from the later era of Misfits. Some purists don't recognize this as "real" Misfits, but it is a bop so what do they know. You should check out some stuff from the Danzig lineup though, although the sound quality of that period leaves a lot to be desired. I recommend "Skulls", "Hybrid Moments", and "Where Eagles Dare" to get a better idea of the raw original sound
YESSS MORE MISFITS, BEST BAND EVER!
I’ve always gravitated to the Graves Era. The metal influence is very apparent in American Psycho. Plus Michael’s voice is one of the best, particularly in his acoustic solo stuff
Graves is a phenomenal lyricist. Highly recommend his acoustic versions.
FCK YES!! My favorite song of theirs!
Helen is a fantastic Misfits song!! Great reaction I'm glad you dig it
I frickin love this song!:D
Thanks for all the reactions, thanks for all the laughs and thank you for the video that you had to make. I appreciated that.
Yo Alex, not a huge fan of reaction channels usually but man as a low-key metal fan I just wanted to say thank you for giving me a break during the day and some fun content to look forward to. Hope your channel keeps growing man!
You opened the can - now you gotta commit! Please more Misfits
Gotta check out their song "Helena". I was actually in a Misfits cover band called Devil-lock, this was one of my favorites to play.
While I do like Danzig era Misfits, Graves has an AMAZING voice.
The Graves era of the Misfits doesnt get enough love but I really dig it and the original era as well.
It's always so refreshing to watch your reaction videos. Listening to music is practically my religion, and it's great to know there are others out there who feel the same level of enthusiasm.
This takes me back to my teenage days when I was die-hard Misfits fan . I had a devil lock ( the long strand of hair that hangs down the front of your face) , wore an army jacket with a bunch of punk rock patches on it, and combat boots. This band, and their sub genre of horror punk still remains one of my all time favorites. You should check out some of the Danzig era Misfits such as Die Die My Darling, or Green Hell.
Yea dude! Misfits are one of my favorite bands! You should check out some Danzig era Misfits like “Where Eagles Dare” or “Astro Zombies” or “Last Caress”. I do love Michael Graves era Misfits though! Keep killing it homie!
This is so iconic. One of the first songs from them I heard too back in the day! They love spooky shit and don't take themselves too seriously except they're completely serious about it haha
You need to react to more misfits!!
Seen them live at least 8 or 9 times spanning the last 15 years. They really are a phenomenon, bigger than just the music alone. Glad you finally opened the door, hope you react to more in the near future
finally we get to see some misfits. been waiting a longe time to see your react to it
I've been waiting for this one for so long!
Woot woot!!! Misfits...good times, good times. This is one of my favorites from them.
More Misfits. Danzig era preferably. Skulls, London dungeon are favs.
Wow I haven't listened to Misfits in years. Makes me want to dig out my brothers collection.
Definitely my favourite song by them. This, or Scream.
Glenn Danzig was the best era of The Misfits. Check out the album, "Walk Among Us." ✌
I actually think, Graves era is much better. He has a better voice than Danzigs. And the recording quality is so much better than the old stuff. (Graves seems to be a douchebag though)
@@thommysguitarcorner4687 Glenn is a TOTAL D-Bag! Watch the video where he pulled the plug on a band during their performance and when confronted Glenn pushes the lead singer and that dude knocks Glenn The F OUT! here is a link if u wanna see it czcams.com/video/zfD7agP1yxw/video.html
No way! Graves was the best era of misfits, man.
@@theidajawho if you think Danzig is a Dbag, I find it hard to believe you know anything about Michale “I’m an actual Proud Boy” Graves.
@@joemiller7082 Never said Graves was not! Love how folks read what they wanna see not what is written. For the record the "Graves" era is good, but the "Danzig" era is Legend!
God, I grew up with the Misfits. My stepdad is a huge fan. He's in a Misfit's cover band called Psycho 78 (taken from the Misfits song Horror Business) where he plays bass along with my little brother who plays drums. They've played multiple live shows and are pretty good ngl (I'm biased though, ahaaa). I saw the Misfits once in the 2000's when I was super young and met Jerry Only and about three years ago went to one of Michael Graves' concerts and met him afterwards. We ended up talking about Jim Carrey for a few minutes (held up the line a bit but we were having a fun convo lol). Needless to say I love them and I'm super glad you've finally been able to check them out. I also find it really funny that you said they've got halloween vibes because they have a song called Halloween and it's one of my absolute favorites by them.
I mean, since you like Metallica you've probably heard some of their Misfits covers, but I suggest you check out Halloween, Saturday Night, Last Caress, Helena, Die Die My Darling, Skulls, Don't Open 'Til Doomsday, American Pscyho, and Scream. Sorry that's so many but these are some of their more well known songs and are super good.
Also, to answer your question, I love Chef Boyardee's raviolis. They're amazing.
Astro Zombies, Attitude, Scream, Where Eagles Dare All great Misfits songs.
I was at the show they filmed the live footage at. In fact one of my friends was crowd surfing and I could see his legs in the footage. It was a wild show in a small club called Toad's Place in New Haven Connecticut. This song was the single off the Misfits American Pyscho Album after the band was reformed. This song was initially written my Michael Graves, the singer, if you hunt CZcams he has done acoustic versions of the song, which change the context of the lyrics.
Love playing this song on guitar, crank it loud and let the neighbours hear
I love this band so much that my friends now call me the Misfits kid
Hell yeah misfits I remember being a teenager in field parties and everybody stoned and drunk screaming along with the lyrics around the bonfire back before smartphones and internet Good times
Cheers from Sweden. I literally grew up on Misfits and Ramones back in late 80's and if anyone want to mess with men about Graves and Danzig im rippin asses. Both are great. Great reaction Alex.
That's horror punk! Such a classic melody
Yes! Finally!
Probably my favorite Misfits song, but they have many cool hits!
OG Misfits with Glenn Danzig, come on!!!
Listen to Bullet, Helena, Pumpkin Head, bunch of great stuff with Misfits, always in the middle of my heart.
Dude, thank you so much for reacting to Misfits!! They're so iconic and misunderstood. A person doesn't need to dig into much meaning behind their songs, and It's some of the best music to listen to and scream along with as loud as you can!
I recommend I Turned Into a Martian from the Danzig Era.
misfits is a vibe bro!!! great Halloween themed addition to the reaction channel (facts)
Last Caress next 👌🏻
Alex, you have to check out the lead singer's live acoustic version of Dig Up Her Bones. Keep up the great content, buddy 🤘
I'm a young newbie Misfits fan. I heard 5 seconds of Die Die Die My Darling in my aunts car and I was hooked
This is 90's Misfits w/ Michale Graves on vocals... he took Glenn Danzig's spot briefly. Bassist Jerry Only did lead vocals after that... before they reunited w/ Danzig & guitarist Doyle for shows.
Gotta check out old Misfits - 'Die die my darling' ... 'She' ... 'Last caress' ...
Hello!! I've waiting for thisss
Super divisive band you picked here, champ. I'm on the Graves side of the fence, Dig Up Her Bones being my favorite song of theirs. Scream being another.
A true punk-rock classic. One of my favourite Misfits songs.
"Hi Alex, I'm pleased to meet you, I'm the punk rock. Feel free to listen, Ramones, Dead Kennedys, and many others good stuff."
It took me a while to hear the Misfits as well, even though all the kids I hung out with high school listened to them. It wasn't until my junior year of college, around 2011, that I dated a goth chick and finally heard them. They've since become one of my favorite bands.
They are the fathers of the horror punk genre. Danzig, who you've reacted to before, was a founding member.
"Descending Angel" by The Misfits is a must! My favorite song of theirs since the first time I heard them
I met Jerry and Doyle one night during their Kyrss the Conquerer days...years later I worked with them during the Graves era...spent the majority of the concert making sure that Graves didn't fall into the pit...I have a picture of myself and Jerry with my (then) 6 month old son in my arms...Jerry was in full makeup and Devillock and my son is looking at him with a look of "I've seen some really weird stuff today...but you take the cake" granted that got trumped when Dave Brockie picked him up and made Oderous faces at him and got him laughing...when I took my son to my Mum's so she could watch him over the convention (DragonCon 2000) I showed her the pictures and we both laughed about it for years...still wonder what Dave's reaction was when he met Mum in the Summerlands... RIP Dave and Mum...
Let the rabbit hole begin! And yes, fan of the chef!
Misfits are a legendary vibe.....
The fiend skull is definitely a popular icon, so yes, it's likely that the shirt is more popular in culture than the band. However that takes nothing away from the band, and their music is equally awesome, and kudos to them for having such an instantly recognizable icon. You see that shirt, you know who it's referencing. Just tossing a few suggestions out there, London Dungeon, 1,000,000 years BC, Last Caress, Them.
Holy shit!!! It's about damn time Alex! Haha 😄
“Where eagles dare” is a must
There's a book by Steven Blush called American Hardcore, all about the hardcore scene from the late 70s & early 80s.
Several bands get their own chapter. Misfits is one of them.
You need to check out the o.g. Danzig era. Skulls, London Dungeon. Last Caress
Skulls, Halloween, Last Caress, i love each of those songs so much, and i'm sure you would as well. Misfits are legendary
Definitely need to do more misfits. She, we bite, American nightmare, where eagles dare. Are at one of my favorites.
My personal favorite Misfits lineup. Graves, Doyle, Only, and Chud.
Love the reaction. Have to listen to some Danzig era stuff, recommend Skulls, Astrozombies, Static Age, Last Caress, Where Eagles Dare, London Dungeon, or Halloween) as well as some more of the Graves Era stuff (recommend Saturday Night, The Shining, American Psycho, Scream or Helena). There are a lot of other great songs from both eras... Glad to see you doing a reaction.
SOOO Much music from the Misfits even have eras with diffrent singers. Graves era underrated
This is the 90's Misfits with Michale Graves. Check out the original lineup with Glenn Danzig. They've been around since the late 70's. Some classic songs: Hybrid Moments, Last Caress, Vampira, Astro Zombies, I Turned Into a Martian, Bullet, Death Comes Ripping, Halloween and maaany more. When it comes to albums - Walk Among Us and Earth AD it's where it's at
Saw them live shortly after Graves left the band around 2001! Awesome show! 💀
Jerry (bass) sang half, and “Ignite” singer sang half too 💀
Again in 2009, hopefully they stop by town again 🤘
Decending Angel and Saturday Night are awesome Musfits songs!!
HERE WE GOOOO. Just in time for Halloween. Also, listen to their song Halloween. Also Scream, Bullet, Saturday Night, London Dungeon, Fiend Club, Walk Among Us, Hell Night.
Was gonna say "Ohh, Alex. I feel for you having picked a Graves-era song, due to what's gonna happen in the comments", but I scrolled and read a bit. Thankfully, people are being merciful. I'm pleasantly surprised. Personally, there's at least something from every era of them that I enjoy.
LOL i thought the same thing! I was like "You done fucked up, A-A-Ron....." lmfao.
@@smokeyarcade People are dicks. Me, I think this era has a great vibe. Of course I'm a big Danzig fan. Any Misfits fan should be. But I never say never. So I grew to really dig this period in time for them. Anyway...weird place for a newb to start, for sure. But not unrewarding if one has an open mind.
@@PriestofGethsemane I agree, he could've done worse and started with the Jerry Era lol. Now that is where one should definitely not start if they want to get into the misfits in my opinion. I actually really like the Graves era myself and wouldn't mind seeing this line-up do a few reunion shows if the Danzig era ain't gonna make a full comeback.
@@smokeyarcade Same here. But I doubt there's much more in store in general.
@@PriestofGethsemane Yeah, most we'll get is maybe a few more shows in a couple years. Which kinda sucks because a new Danzig-Misfits album would be killer! Imagine something that sounded like Walk Among Us & Static Age with today's recording technology? Holy hell. They would literally be printing money.
Love this song and this version of the band
Love this song....
You should listen to any of the older music back when glen danzig was the singer. Those are the more iconic songs
Play the whole "American psycho" record!
Hands down...
Best Misfits album, In my opinion!🤙
One Last Caress needs to be next. Original singer and one of their most well known songs. Like this to bump to the top.
My favorite Misfits song!!!
Yes. I love Chef Boyardee! I also love Misfits!
moooore misfits they have so many great songs
Misfits is one of those good bands where Metalheads and Punks can listen in Peace
When they shot them in the club playing it was at Providence Rhode Island lupus heartbreak hotel I was there it was ridiculous. Can’t wait to see the Original Misfits next year at the riot fest.🤘🏼💚✌️
Graves wrote this before he joined Misfits and it was originally written to be an acoustic song... so you should definitely check out him doing the acoustiv version
I remember getting to know the Misfits with this song when I was a kid.
Back then they were already considered an "old" band. Not in the negative sense. Just as a band that has been around for a long time.
And now it's almost another 25 years later!
And Doyle is still buff btw: D
Nice piece bro👊💪🤘
Here comes a new fiend 😎 and another SPECIAL OF THE MISFITS 🤘❤️
Thanks for reminding me how old I am. I was 18 when this record came out. Glad you liked them, they're a huge part of what is wrong with me.
You should listen to the song “Halloween” by misfits for Halloween or just listen to “hybrid moments”
Ah yes, My favorite Misfits song of all time! 😊🎶
More imminence please!!!! Check out "Lighthouse" the vocals are incredible
Misfits lyrics are often based on well known and some more obscure horror/sci fi b- movie. The reformed 90s era had vocal and lyrical influences from Jim Morrison aswell as Christian values and scripture. Old school 'Fits had vocal influences from Elvis and occultist lyrics
Saturday Night by the Misfits is a great song to dissect!
FINALLY 🔥🔥 I FREAKING LOVE MISFITS
Love your show! Definitely need to listen to Helena by the Misfits. The older Misfits is Glenn Danzig singing. These are after him but are awesome. Doyle is the jacked guitar player and original member. He now has his own band called Doyle. Blessings to you.
If I'm not mistaken Michale Graves wrote this song before he joined Misfits. There are written Graves on one of the headstones 😎. Later in their career bass player Jerry Only took a break and were replaced by his son Jerry Other 😄
Listen to Last Caress with Glenn Danzig on vocals
