The first time I heard this song I was laying in my bed tripping on acid and his voice was turning me into an eagle flying over mountains and when he said would you let it go i said yes and just as I said that I exploded and had the most amazing trip ever like I was traveling through time with the whole song and he was guiding me. Screw the wall listen to how the gods kill if you ever trip.

Occultism has a lot to do with the search for knowledge that is often said to be held in secret by said Gods. He's saying he's willing to sacrifice himself in his pursuit. The entire song is about allowing one's Will to become further personified.

He plays all instruments. Glenn is a true artist. Loads of new kids don’t know the people that made music that inspired their favorite musicians. Glenn was at the forefront of American punk. He is what people called black metal. Yes, he is self absorbed. He does have a chip on his shoulder. I love love the guy and I always buy what he puts out.

Per Glenn its about the search for knowledge and understanding of oneself... To expand on that, it´s about how one feels he is living in his own darkness (lost), but wants to know the truth, and yet all that truth and power lies inside himself, as in "looking inside his empty soul" where the noose of all the undiscovered fears and insecurities lies; that prison which needs to be worked through, and let go. Hence "would you let it go" stands as both a question and a comment, and "show me How the Gods Kill" stands for the yearning to have all these doubts removed instantly, which is unrealistic. This song is truly about the quest for personal power and self-knowledge.

Almost as wide as he is tall. Yeah. He's a beast! With one hell of a set of pipes and a wild mind. Fabulous. Love Danzig. Like the Misfits too but I like them with Michale as well so...to me THIS is Danzig the way he should be. He just is IN it so much. This is one of my favorite songs. And I love to watch a person's face when they hear it the first time. Or more correct SEE it. You have to see HIM singing this song and that vid is just nuts! People always freak. I know I did. Thank you!🙏🤘😈

I wasn't sure what the line "Show me how the gods kill" meant until you put it into perspective. You said that to hold on to happiness you have to hold on loosely, so he might be saying look at how the gods kill my happiness because you can't hold on to something good forever.

Alex, I just want to say I am a man full of music. Probably got over 16,000 songs on my phone. Most of my tats are music and band related. I love watching you react to almost every song I know and discovering music that’s new to me. Life’s been a struggle, just want to say watching you lightens my day. Nice to see someone else see the meaning of these songs. And enjoy them like you do. Thank you

Those first 3 or 4 Danzig albums are great. Classics as far as I'm concerned. Fun fact: Glenn Danzig wrote songs for both Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison. Bonus fact: The "Danzig skull" used on their albums was actually ripped off from a comic book

When I was about 15-16 and holy cow I’m getting chills just starting to write this but true story me cousin introduced me and my other cousin and a buncha my friends in the 90s and instantly to the lyrics and the sounds,We partied a lot for 2 whole summers to Danzig,Anyways later in life we all got job and my one cousin ended up in jail around the time my other cousin his name was Vince who introduced us to Danzig went out to work in the oil make killer money…On his way him after a month on the oil patch he was returning home and decided to stop in an old town he lived in and drink at the bar with some friends,They tried to take his keys 🔑 and he fought them and left the bar and drove off and him and and another fella flipped their truck on a gravel road and drown in the river below upside down and died,Then after he passed away during the funeral my cousin Derek who was in jail I mentioned ended up getting a pass to get out for the funeral and ended up asking me if I wanted a tattoo cause he mentioned learned 4 years of tattooing during his stay in jail…So I asked him for the Danzig skull and he did an amazing job putting it on my shoulder and said he would work on it again but he ended up dying later in life he was murdered by some drug dealers with fentanyl,My belief to the awnser to the question about what is the Meaning of HOW THE GODS KILLS…Well I believe what happened in my story is how the gods they can take a life that was once given and not have any remorse what so ever cause we all sin but some sins cannot be forgiven and the gods will show you there is no forgiveness in the most dire situations…Check out the Danzig song called Soul On Fire 🔥please

This man I've seen live more times than anyone else. I've seen the Misfits for the first time in 83. Many more with different lineups. Saw him with his second band Samhain and then Danzig. Danzig I've seen the most of course and I lost count at 26. Sistinas is a great slower along with Blood and Tears. My favorite song is Dominion which others scoff about but I don't give AF. Her Black Wings, Tired of Being Alive, Twist of Cain, Stalker Song and that's just my have to play all the time list and only Danzig because the Misfits are totally different and my first love so that list is pretty much all of them!

The title song "How the Gods Kill" concerns a search for knowledge and an understanding of oneself.
The album's cover is a 1976 painting called Meister und Margeritha (The Master and Margarita) by famous Swiss artist H. R. Giger,, named after Mikhail Bulgakov's novel The Master And Margarita. For the album cover, Giger modified the original painting slightly, covering "the Master's" erect penis with a dagger bearing his interpretation of the Danzig skull symbol. Giger's version of the Danzig skull was later used on T-shirts and as the cover art for the "Dirty Black Summer" single.

The Master & Margarita was also the name of a book, which would inspire Rolling Stones' Sympathy For the Devil as well.

Misfits for sure! Listen to a song with Glen Danzig and another with Michale Graves! I suggest,
Misfits (Danzig) - “Die, Die My Darling” or “Mommy, can I go out & kill tonight?”
Misfits (Graves) - “Dig up her bones” or “Scream”
Hope you eventually react to these Alex!

I find it comical that these people react to Anakin, killing the younglings so heartfelt(so did I, the first time). While not really grasping that they're witnessing the emergence of Darth Vader(I imagine a video of me watching it for the first time, would be exactly the same).

LOL That part where you said "What the hell?" was literally a live-action reproduction of the cover for the "How the Gods Kill" record. It's a painting called "Margarita and the Master" by H.R. Giger, you know, the guy who designed the monster for the "Alien" movies. Additional cool points because the painting was inspired in part by the awesome novel by the same name by Russian author Mikhail Bulgakov.
