  • Some of the best Turkey I've ever made has been deep fried, whether it's for Thanksgiving dinner for forty people or a Christmas meal for five. The crispy, golden skin holds flavor incredibly well and the bird turns out as moist and tender as any Turkey I've had.

Probably a little selfish that I'm saving the deep fried turkey for myself but I need to transport the other two to a friend's for Thanksgiving and the drive time will allow them to rest properly. I was wondering if I have actually burnt it a little or is it from the brown sugar brine?

    • @CookingWithRy
      @CookingWithRy  Před 4 lety +1

      If there is a substantial amount of brown sugar still on the skin when you deep fry that can contribute to the darker color.

    Looks good. I probably shouldn't be surprised...yet I am surprised that the tech on this has advanced to such a sophisticated point beyond what I'd presumed was still the norm of fiery, semi-explosive metal tube filled with oil and a bird for not very long sitting in a driveway with onlookers semi-safely in the distance peering over their respective cans at it.

    I used the older model Masterbuilt many years. The only thing I disliked is the way they have it designed the oil does not cover the top of the bird even at Max level. I thought the newer models would have corrected that but I see they didn't. It barely covered the 13lb bird.

    • @CookingWithRy
      @CookingWithRy  Před 5 lety

    • @etgrider77
      @etgrider77 Před 5 lety

      @@MM-rr1kp I wouldn't advice it because you will have uneven cook as well as risk tearing the bird in half trying to flip. Turkey fryers are supposed to be able to completely submerge the turkey for the duration of the cook. You would fair better splitting the turkey into halves.

      No risk. I've done dozens of turkeys this way. Sometimes the breast side plumps up and that top portion pokes out a bit. Put garlic cloves in the oil for enhanced flavor.

      You can do that. I prefer to do it this way and haven't had any complaints.

    I have a small 3rd story apartment, now I'm not sure what to do. I cant take it outside.

      You can use indoors. It just produces quit a bit of steam. Perhaps you can fry it inside by an open window?

      It can produce A LOT of steam. It says it can be used inside, and many do that all the time. My personal choice is to only use it outside :)

      That fryer lives in the garage almost all year. I wipe the outside down and clean the inside good before use. But if you don't want to see dusty, avert your eyes from my gas grill :)

      Well, I was here, and I've done birds dozens of times in the deep fryer, and this was perfect. It's a fairly easy way to get a juicy bird. Sir.
