It's not often I prefer a cover song to the original, but this is one of those times! I adore this version ❤
@Kelly Pierce Same, it’s sooo good!! 💯🎶
Red, Red Wine🍷🍷🍷is another great song they did. It was written and originally performed by Neil Diamond.
Sorry Neil, I love all your stuff, but I like UB40's version better!
Please do their version Jay. 🙏 💗
Me too! Love their version. His voice is so great and they choose their cover songs perfectly suited to them.
UB40 has a few of those
This song dominated every radio station when it came out. It was HUGE
Next one Kkngston Town I love it
A la tv aussi !!!.... la Guadeloupe confirme ;)
Spent 7 weeks at #1 on the billboard hot 100 chart
Dont forget the film sliver topped box office at same time which video was based on
Still is
I always loved the Elvis version of this song, but this version took on a whole new life. Thanks for introducing me to it and UB 40.
I'm a lifelong UB40 fan, if you decide to listen to more, you won't be bored. There's such a good variety of reggae in their albums. I'd recommend Signing Off and Labour of Love 2 👌🏻😁
Ali Campbell also has some solo albums you might like too, like Great British Classics, where he puts his reggae spin on songs by the likes of the beatles, (hard days night). His voice is perfection on He Aint Heavy He's My Brother.
@@Kazza_8240 Me too! I was introduced to UB40 through Labour of Love II in 1989 when distant relatives from USA sent me (to Lithuania, former USSR then) a casette (and two more - some album from New Kids on the Block and Depeche Mode "Enjoy the Silence"). Still in love with that album!
@@vaidisk Mate from the UK, you know your stuff. Much love brother.
@@Kazza_8240 UB40 love them soooo much too!! This song and Ali in video always gets me like 😜💯🔥
@@A.BondGirl I bet you're like me and you love Alis wee hip grind with the hand on groin he does to Here I Am Baby lol 🥵
Theres nothing sexier than a group of men jamming to a love song... this song is sooooo good! ❤
I was thinking precisely the same even before I read your post!
@Nerdia G - I want a t-shirt with your comment on it ♥️☺️ #truewords
YES! one thing that's equivalent: ONE JOVAUGHN jamming to a love song.
I agree❤Life is sweet
Right?!
God I love this version. Ali's vocal on show, beautiful reggae beat and the touch of brass ska style. You gotta move, lots of happy memories. ☮️
@Della couldn’t have put it better myself, love ‘em!!! 💛🤩
UB40 is some of Birmingham, UK’s finest, such a diverse group.
I'm from brum too we have birthed alot of talent
Love this reggae version! The horns were on another level.🎶🎺🎷🎤🌴👍
The horns turned this into a whole nother song!!! From balad to banger
Musical masterpiece, how they turned a timeless classic and made it their own.
You would really enjoy the longer version of Red Red Wine
With Astro!!!!
My family & I are from the islands in the Pacific & my dad was a kid when UB40 was rising, I did not know this was a cover because I was brought up with UB40. My dad had me at a young age & I’m glad my dad introduced me to so many different genres of music, but UB40 will forever feel like home! 🤙🏽
That's a true one here in the islands ub 40 is a popular band much love here from Samoa 🇼🇸
Love this version, never ages for me
Love that ppl are enjoying their music 30 odd years after it was released 👌
This is by far my favorite version of this song
@Lynda Golding mine too!! 🎶💛
Shout out to you, Jamal, and ALL the reactors who reacted to Fleetwood Mac. Their album "Rumors" went to No.1 on the Billboard Charts a few weeks ago....last week dropped to No.27 and this week No.13 and climbing!!!! It's you guys getting it out the word to young folks!!! Thank you!!!
He’s not Jamal, mate. You’re getting your channels mixed up? 💖
I
Rumors could be best album ever
@@turdferguson400........I'm not mixed up Friends I said or addressed saying," Shout to "You", Jamal, and the other reactors....." lol.....hahaha....I maybe old but I am not losing my memory..."You" acknowledging him... and of course Jamal and others like KSO...Because you, I and others have requested old school music like Fleetwood and they liked it ...reviewed the songs...
He said to You, Jamal and the other reactors. It was a list. Hence the commas!!
Another great UB40 song, they did a duet, is that even possible with a group, with I think Chrissy Hynde from the pretenders. It's called I got you babe and is a cover from Sonny and Cher.
Chrissy Hynde invited UB40 to be her support act, and duetted with Ali for I Got You Babe, she seen them perform live, and asked them immediately to be her support act. We've got her to thank for giving them a leg up 😁
I had forgotten about that one!! Great request!
Yeah also did a great track with Robert Palmer” I’ll be your baby tonight “.
@@horsefootrot8044 Also, on Ali's solo album Running Free, he duets with Smokey Robinson, Katie Melua, Bitty McLean, Beverly Knight, Mick Hucknall and Lemar. 👌🏻
Baby Come Back with Pato Banton is another duet worth mentioning.
Plus - UB40 got a mention in a song by Ed Sheeran and Stormzy, in August I think, so that's introducing them to a new audience as well 😁
@@Kazza_8240 👏👏👏no argument here. Great calls..all of them😎
UB40 started a lifelong love of anything Reggae! Growing up in the late 70’s-80s these guys were and still are the bomb! PLEASE PLEASE react to more UB40🙏🏻❤️
@Sylvia Louise Meechan Lifelong original fan too!! They rock my whole world girl! 🔥🎶💯💛
Said before I'll say it again ....I love UB40. Such a shame they split, they are so good together even though Ali and Astro were amazing on there own, just wished they were all still together 👍
Me too man. Seen them live 7 times, and last 2 concerts was Ali Astro and Mickey, with Matt doing backing vocals that Robin would usually. Ali's voice never disappoints, but it is sad. And I wouldn't ever pay to see UB40 without him. Don't even start me on Duncan's reggae/country abomination of an album 😤
Someone needed to remind him 'reggaes what we love and that's what we defend, and that be a love that could-a never end' 😂❤️💛💚
@@Kazza_8240 totally 💯% agree! Cannot wait ‘til next year to see them in London again, front row!! 🤩🎶💛
Hey Jovaughn. Great reaction as usual. Try out UB40's cover of Jimmy Cliff's "Many Rivers To Cross". I think you'd dig it.
@@libbykemp4837 Me Too... Lets hope he does do a Reaction to that Brilliant Song ..
Yes, its beautiful
This version is Up there with Elvis version. Those trumpets at the end! 🔥
@Rainy Day Reactions absolutely agree!! Their brass sound is incredible!! 🔥🎺🎷💛
Love UB40. All from Britain but from different ethnic backgrounds. Reggae music is a strong influence in the UK. There are documentaries about how reggae came to be a force to be reckoned with.growing up in London we used to go to house parties. Lots of rub a dub reggae. Just the best days
One of the best covers ever made. Another that you should check it out is Pet shop boys covering “always on my mind “ from Elvis Presley . It’s an Amazing cover also.
Yeh, totally agree!
I love the different versions of this I've heard but this and Elvis singing it though very different are my favourites. I love the pace of this and yes it's a song that gets people up dancing, I couldn't resist it when I was younger lol. A great reaction from you sweetheart, it was lovely to see the happiness on your face and watch you chair dancing (my Mum became disabled and she sat and my younger siblings said that never mind she couldn't stand up to dance Mum chair danced. I always found that a lovely expression but my Mum tried not to let things stop her, where there's a will there's a way. Take care and stay safe please everyone God bless you all love hugs and peace Mary-Ellen UK
Your so loveable & humble I love this. Thanks for giving your time to U.K. music 👌🏼 👏🏼 🇬🇧💜
The Reggie music to this song is insane. Love the instrumental and beat. Very creative and unique sound.
They did a sensational job of this timeless song🤩Luv😍
Trumpets and saxophone were on fire this song 🔥🔥
ub40 don't break my heart
Yep, one of my favourites from them.
I was just about to say that. Beautiful song
Why would ub40 break your heart?
One of my favs
That's an incredible song
This song still gets me every time I hear it even thirty years later
They tore it up, on the floor up! 👍👍👍 LOVE THAT MAN'S VOICE & everything about that band. They do another GREAT cover version, by The Chi-Lites "HOMELY GIRL". Official video is great...
love love love the vibe of this song with the background sounds and horns. fantastic song
My dad ( who was really old school in terms of music tastes) actually loved this cover!
So many memories for me with this version , tears . Glad you liked it
Please Jayee do more UB40 reactions..I always get a goofy smile on my face when you enjoy their songs...I LOVE UB40!!!!❤

@SUZY GIRL YOU KNOW IT!! LOOOOVE UB40!!! 💯🎶🔥💛
Jay, I think you'll like UB40's spin on the Temptations song "The Way You Do The Things You Do" 👍😎
Great choice, @Tiger Williams!!! I love their take on that song!!! I think JayVee would take appreciate it, too!!! ☺️
Definitely.
I feel silly. I never knew The Temptation sang the original....only knew the UB40 version so now have to check out the other. I love UB40.
@@marilynseptember21 its in the title all of the songs on labour of loves are covers of songs they loved.
I'm always dubious about cover versions, but this is one of those that gets my approval. Love Elvis and this is a great version of his song
UB40 are an English reggae and pop band, formed in Birmingham, England in December of 1978.
The band has had more than 50 singles on the UK Singles Chart, and has also achieved considerable international success.
They have been nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album four times, and in 1984 were nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Group.
UB40 have sold over 70 million records worldwide.
The ethnic make-up of the band's original line-up was diverse, with musicians of English, Welsh, Irish, Jamaican, Scottish, and Yemeni parentage.
Their hit singles include their debut "Food for Thought" and the two Billboard Hot 100 number ones, "Red Red Wine" and "Can't Help Falling in Love".
Both of the latter also topped the UK Singles Chart, as did the band's version of "I Got You Babe".
They covered Elvis Presley‘s "Can't Help Falling in Love" in 1993, peaking at number 1 on both the UK Singles chart, and the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
"Here I Am (Come and Take Me)" - favorite UB40 song.
I love the Island vibe of this version of the song! Excellent sound with this group!!
UB40 music has always been some of the most heartfelt and sexiest music around
When Jayvee breaks out the lighter, you know it’s good
UB40, great band and I enjoy all their music. You should really check out their early stuff, one in ten for example. 👍 also check out a band called “fine young cannibals” lead singer has an outstanding voice
Loved it, never would have thought that song would sound so good with that beat. 👍 good 👍 👌 👏
I remember they did an outdoor concert at the excel centre right near my house and everybody was out on the street jamming as it was so loud good times
Great reaction Jay...love UB40...coming from Hawaii, we love the reggae music...a couple of UB40 songs I enjoy are Cherry Oh Baby, Version Girl, Don't Break My Heart...
Hi from the UK, always always loved UB40 , all their music and songs have such great vibes , slow sexy 😉😉😉🤗🤩 .
I met the whole band a few years ago, when they were flying back to London. I guess there was an awards show here that night. I had no idea there were actually 40 band members. My boss gave me a look like she wanted to slap me for not figuring that out. 🤣🤣🤣 I checked in all 40 of them and over 100 suitcases. Worth it though. They’re such a great group of fellas. They’re very nice and super talented. I grew up listening to these guys. They’re so good.
They make me proud to be British 😂 and if cos my age group growing up with first generation west Indians in Britain, I have so many great happy memories of all the single mum's playing their different music and us kids playing. We are family to this day , it was the best childhood and I still know every word to all the old reggae songs like so many Britt's. It's a whole music genre
We were soooo lucky to be from the generation that actually had great music 🎶
Such an awesome rendition of this song, so beautiful!
It was the lead song to the 90's film Sliver, not sure if it was originated to be used as part of the film or not.
From the ' SLIVER' soundtrack. it is very good. The movie was filmed in the very thin NYC highrise. AKA the Sliver building.
Their concerts were the most fun.
Another invention of the 80's was ska. UB40 is reggae, but ska was big as well. Such as Madness (You've done them) and The English Beat. If you want to go in this direction, I'd recommend English Beats "Save it for Later", or "Tears of a Clown".
Mirror In The Bathroom is such a good track by The Beat. Used in an excellent scene in Grosse Pointe Blank as well.
Ska and bluebeat originated in the1960s. It was the late 1970s that it was revived under the banner of 2 Tone (records) with The Specials & Madness, The Beat, Selector & others. UB40 certainty came along on the back of that. BTW, I saw them late 1979 3rd on the bill to The Beat & Selector as they already had records out
Great groups that had hits were The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Great Big Sea(Canada)
Ska was invented in Jamaica 1960s.

I have always enjoyed their version of this ❤
Request: UB40 - I Got You Babe
UB40 turned a lot of songs into Dancehall grooves. But their early original songs like FOOD FOR THOUGHT were so spot on and reflected the times. The earth dies screaming always haunts me when I hear it.
Check out their cover of ‘The Way You Do The Things You Do’ originally by The Temptations.. great band and great reaction ❤️
I love Elvis and I LOVE THIS cover too!
Elvis covered this song too.
He didn't write it.
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 I know, I love these 2 versions
Every time I hear this song I just have to shout out the wind instrument players...it ready made this music pop. Love it ❤️
@missmsquare yessss totally!!! 🎺🎷💯🔥💛🎶
Thank you Brother for reacting my request from ub40👍🏻 super upbeat it just makes you wanna jam to it at a Jamaica beach in the caribe
I think it was you and a few thousand other subscribers who requested it 😊 I know I did too
UB40 - Groovin'. Another amazing UB40 song!
Jay you are living legend!!!
I've always loved this version of the song! ❤️
Seriously seriously good!.......love that beat! ❤️
Thank you for reminding me how good this song was.
Swing low sweet chariot ... ub40 brilliant tune
I like that, even though it was made for the English rugby team, and I'm Scottish lol, I have it on an album, and yes, I listen to it. 😁
Yes I love UB40💜💙💚💛"Rat in My Kitchen" is my favourite ❤🧡💛💚
One of my favourite covers of all time. Dem jus know how fi dweet, nuh true Jay? lol I drop everything when this comes up on my playlist. Can't do nothing but sing and dance along. You'd probably enjoy "The Way You Do the Things You Do" and also "I Got You Babe" with Chrissie Hynde.
I was a massive fan in the 80's! Such an unique sound and great band! LJ
Break out the lighter! Thanks for the joy you put out in these stressful days!
Brilliant song! Another great Elvis cover is 'Always on my mind' by the Pet Shop Boys. Great 80's pop classic. It's another track that sounds completely different to the original Elvis version but just works. Give it a go! Love the channel btw!
Absolutely love this version!!
😉🙂 "Don't break my heart", is one of my faves
This version when to number one in the US and the UK, doing better than any other version to include Elvis's version.
I was 13 when this was big hit in Britain I'm 41 now lol love there tunes u have to listen to some more of there music u will love it
My absolutely fav song from UB40. "something were ment to be........ !!" ❤️❤️
Ooo I'm glad I heard their version.
Ya mon... we be jammin' now! Lol
Jay, I knew you were going to love this version because of where you were born.
I had their Greatest Hits on a cassette tape and I completely wore it out!
I think just about everything they did, they put a reggae-ish spin on it.
FWI... If you're interested, I have some songs you can introduce on your One-Hit-Wonders!
I've looked to make sure nobody else has reacted to them so you would be the first!
I pride myself on finding the most obscure hits that most people haven't heard since they came out on the radio!
Music is my life and has been since I was a child so I have quite a collection.
This came out when I was at school here in the UK. I bought it on cassette and played it over and over. I was obsessed (I already knew and liked Elvis's version). And what girl wasn't in love with Ali Campbell?! EDIT: I don't think I've seen this video since the 90s!!
@Pen Name Ali in this vid 🔥 will always love that man! 🎶🔥
Once again, yet another BRILLIANT song from UB40, fabulous group, lead singer Ali Campbell (Birmingham, England, UK) xx
I definitely enjoyed the 70s and 80s music and am glad I was born in the 60s and got to enjoy all the 80s music whilst in my teens .
Lo-ove that horn section. Oooh, ooh, you should do "Here I am"!
Also do "Come and Get It" by the Beatles. I don't know why I thought of that, I just did.
Next UB40 tunes: Many Rivers to Cross, Homely Girl, Rat In My Kitchen! You will LOVE all 3 :)))))))))))))))))
This song single handily got me into UB40 thanks to a completion album my sister had at the time!
You really felt this one Jay, loved your reaction!
I really love the joy you impart through your reactions!
Finally - love this song.
Kelly Pierce, you nailed it! One of the best covers, I still love my Reggae! Grew up on it, please react to more Reggae from UB40 please! 👏🏽💃🏽🕺🏽🤗You took me back down memory lane 💝
Absolutely love them... from my hometown in Birmingham 😍
So sad Ali an others separated , they were so perfect together, missed them as a whole group!!
Yes, I think the brothers fell out with each other. Typical sibling rivalry like the Gallaghers.
Told you you whould love it jayvee.
This is Real Music. Nothing like those years for good Music
They do such a great job on this song 💗
I will just keep repeating myself in the hope you will read this. Impossible Love and Many rivers to cross. Thanks.
One of the greatest tracks and one of the nicest reactions. Thankz Bro., God Bless
Enjoyed this video man it’s good to watch other people react to amazing music, Subscribed.
God bless.
I think Elvis would have liked this version. A new generation at the time keeping his music going. They put their sound on it, but kept it respectful to Elvis's version. Side note a group called the pet shop boys did a cover of Always on my mind, you should check it out, they did it in 1987. React to it.
Great one Jay
Just because of the name, every time I see UB40, it reminds me to bug you to react to “Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia)” by US3! It’s an early 90s jazz hip-hop hit that will make you wanna dance!
I had that song in my head today and was thinking I needed to suggest it to him to react to!
@@Stephanie-xg7mg It’s sooo good!!
my favourite version of this song - try their version of many rivers to cross - its perfect
Thx for playing this I had forgotten how much I love this version.
