I may be out of place saying this but we need that all but confirmed MCR album that was basically put on hold because covid.
Personally hoping it's Paper Kingdom as I'd love a continuation to the mythology they've created. And the marketing pre C19 very much seemed to hint that it in fact was PK.
Plus, I remember years and years ago that people who had heard the few songs they'd recorded said it was extremely emotionally dark, significantly darker than any of their previous stuff.

The dark sentencer made my year in 2020 ✌🏻. I am really hoping for a track with that kind of intensity. Doesn’t matter though… every Coheed song ever made is on the playlist 🤷♂️.

Every time I hear a new Coheed and Cambria song, the first listen is just testing out the waters. The second listen I jump in the shallow end and listen deeper, by the third listen, I’m all in. The term Acquired Taste isn’t quite the phrase I would use. More like getting a new pair of awesome sneakers and breaking them in. This song is insanely technical and incredible!

It's funny. This is how it's always been for Coheed for me too. I never quite could pin it on why that is. Been listening to them since 02, and it's always took a few listens before I'm like "damn this song is amazing".
Agreed. Every album (yes I still listen to those, not just a single) I give an entire album 3 listens.
I always grow to love their songs more with each listen. There are so many intricacies that make them all genius in their own ways.

There was a point where I thought it was getting worse, but I'm glad to see it was (likely) just fatigue.
Nobody can say Coheed sound is stagnating. I hope the rest of the album is just as aggressive and fun! Killer riffing and playing all around!

@@rocketguardian It's great. I wasn't so sure after Liar's Club, to be honest. But the rest of the album especially Window of the Waking mind are killer. I'm a bit of a weird Coheed fan in that Afterman is my favorite record, so my opinion might not be the most popular but it seems like fans are digging it. I like it more than the last record for sure.

I love watching Josh play drums. His expressions always make me so happy. I'm so thankful he's still around and rocking out because the band wasn't the same without him.

@@Stimros_halabad True, I saw them in Atlanta for Neverender SSTB and they killed it, but I'm pretty sure it was Chris Pennie playing for that tour. Mic was still with them at the time. Pennie is an amazing drummer for sure, but Josh's style just fits their music perfectly.

As an adult there are very few things more amazing than new Coheed and Cambria music. Best band ever by far.
Upon first listen I was like “oh we’re gonna START with the at LEAST once-per-album pterodactyl screech, okay!”
I think fans call that "the crowing scream" because it may be associated with in-universe Claudio calling upon his abilities/strength as The Crowing.. though some of the shrill screams are also associated with Onstantine Priests attacking, so who knows.

This song kicks you in the face as soon as you start it and I've never been happier. That aggressive opener and the verses are amazing. Chorus has that classic coheed feel. I think I like this more than when I heard The Dark Sentencer the first time. which is one of my favorite Coheed songs.

I was already amazed with The Dark Sentencer but holy shit this got me floored from the first second all the way through
Coheed puts out a product the majority of the time that their long time fans will be satisfied with. This is something they have rarely strayed from the entire length of their career and this is why many bands fell off for me a long time ago but I can ALWAYS come back and see what they're doing and appreciate it.
That intro has some nostalgic vibes from early The Used albums, very neat to have that pop up again

Such a pleasure to hear their work and follow their evolution as a band. Killer riffing, tight drums and bass and Claudio's trademark voice! These dudes have been on fire for so many years now!
Im going to be honest here. I wouldn't say I liked the song on day 1, but since then, it's probably been the only song I've been listening to on repeat. It really hits the itch. Claudio's voice does that I guess.
I was feeling the same. Felt guilty tbh. But the day after hearing Shoulders it started playing on repeat in my head. Never had a brand new tune become an earworm after listening once. Sold!
