I lost my cousin to suicide 4 years ago this October. I had sent this song to his girlfriend who loved Coheed just as me and him did, and I told her that he wouldve definitely played this for her when he could. At his funeral, she played the song and I broke down harder than I thought I would.

This song helped me rekindle my relationship with my now husband. I heard it and felt it fit my situation so perfectly so I sent it to him. We had been broken up for years, just coparenting our two kids. This song was that bridge that brought us back together and became a family again. Therapy helped immensely with personal work but this song broke the ice for serious conversation about getting back together

The first thing I did after hearing this song was to get my girlfriend to listen to it. As I was watching the lyric video with her, singing along to make sure she gets the words, I couldn't help but tear up a bit. My girlfriend couldn't help but notice, and I guess the significance of the moment and the song got across to her as well.
I don't care for the people who are disappointed or think that this departure (from the band's usual theme) is a very bad thing to the point that they're thinking of forgetting the band altogether. You're entitled to your own opinion, but I just can't understand how you cannot appreciate the fact that this obviously is a result of an equally significant moment in Claudio's life, so much so that it inspired him to try a different approach to writing music compared to what he's done in the past, in order to put his feelings into words (or a song, more to the point.)
I say to Claudio and to Coheed and Cambria as a band, keep on doing you. Being an artist first and foremost is being honest to yourself and expressing what you really feel, not to pander to others who want to tell you what to do. Congratulations on another powerful, beautiful song (and album, in advance) and you guys will always have my support and admiration, even if I'm the last person from Earth to Mars who will do so.

And this song is beautiful, in the sense that it makes you think about and feel connected to the one your closest to.
It's kind of like of mixture of Burning Star IV Vol 1 and The Afterman, which are both amazing.
This is the first song of the trilogy on this album. He wrote this when he found out his wife was having their first song. Then Ghost was what he thought he'd be like as a dad. Then Atlas, obviously, about his son Atlas.
This album is way different cause he was self conscious when he wrote it. He said he was living in a small apartment and was worried about people hearing him.
I absolutely love every song C&C does, fuck haters and complainers, if you prefer to listen to the same album all the time well just go ahead and do that, but what is the purpose on doing the same shit over and over again? I prefer to have more diferent music and styles in new albums to come from this guys, they never stop to amaze me, this song reminds me of the emo trend back in the early 2000 when they started playing, love the synth, cant wait to have The Color Before the Sun album :)

This is a brand new song from a band that people have loved in the past, and people have the right to express how they're feeling about the new stuff for better or worse.
People have bought the albums, gone to the tours, been totally caught up in the concept, spent money on merch so I think "haters" are just disgruntled fans voicing their valid opinion. It's cool that you like it, enjoy.
Just be aware that some fans enjoyed Coheed for their originality, riffing, off kilter melodies, and darkness in their lyrics. The new material lacks all of these.

From a lesser artist I would be okay with this but I expect more of Coheed. I hate it when people come out saying "If you are a real fan you will like whatever they tell you to like" Thats not how this works lol. I thought Afterman was them really getting back to their roots and I was really anticipating this album since Josh and Zac(Zac especially) are more comfortable being a part of the band and the possibilities of the next story could've been great. I was personally hoping for a new beginning to another epic, even if that meant a whole new story altogether. I mean i would kill for a part V but I dont think its gonna happen. I just dont understand why he had to destroy his world. Since the story was basically a sci-fi epic based on his life I just dont get why it had to end. Imagine if there is a new story based on his son Atlas and all the adventures he goes through lol its nice to dream.

IKSSE3. but I'm very glad that they aren't stretching the Amory Wars further than they can go. the afterman was even a bit iffy. but the musical style is a lot different. not bad. just different. and my respect and love for the band only grows. coheed is turning 20. this is the coheed I remember. they seemed to stop witing super melodic songs after "good apollo..." but this captures that epic, emotional sound they used to be so good at writing.

It's really rare that a song makes me this emotional. I'm so excited for the album.
I like this one a lot better than You Got Spirit, Kid (and I liked that alright) but...idk. I still feel a little hesitant. I'm sure I'll like this album no matter what, but I'm not sure I'll LOVE it, ya know? I just wish the two songs we have so far weren't quite so neat and straightforward. Making a personal album instead of a concept album doesn't mean the lyrics have to be so to the point. I mean, At the Drive-In has very personal lyrics that are also clever and cryptic. Also, I really miss how Coheed would change a song halfway through, have very technical instrumental sections, etc. I don't see how any of that is incompatible with a mainstream pop song, but I guess I'm not a producer with dollars signs in my eyes, so what do I know?
Personally though, I'd be totally down with an entire album of poppy ass songs like this if they just retained that flair and excess from their prog stylings of yore, but this is just so restrained and sounds too much like, well, everything else that's out right now. If not for Claudio's voice this could just be Motion City Soundtrack or something and You Got Spirit, Kid sounds like fallout boy. It's just the same verse/chorus for four minutes, more or less. It's like a regular ass song or something. Where's the Coheed weirdness that sets them apart no matter what genre they try on? This is the first time I've ever felt like that's missing. I feel like, in their attempt to distance themselves from their concept albums, they've swung too far in the opposite direction and are just plain overcompensating. I'm sure even if I feel lukewarm about this one they'll have their shit figured out by the time non-concept # 2 rolls around.

I've been a CoCa fan since 03, but You Got Spirit, Kid is a really boring and bland song imo. This song is a step up, but now we're left with a boring chorus that is repeated way too many times. There was nothing technical or structually stand out about either of these songs so I'm losing hope.

band" - among other things, but that's the main descriptor that's stuck.

something else than it does to other people. It means progress and that
you're reaching; a band that's not limited to anything and doesn't have
walls up around their art. Sure, Coheed have some seven and
eight-minute epics that can be considered prog, but on this record we
have some very concise tunes that could be pop. That is the progressive
that I see - the evolution record to record, the growth, as opposed to
an artist who writes the same record all the time.
