AI is vastly smarter than humans now, they just lack the ability to use free thinking to utilize the vast power they can potentiate. It could be anytime when someone crackes the code to make AI do that could be 28 years could be 5 or could be 500.

Incorrect. AI has higher raw processing power than humans, it is not more intelligent than humans. AI surpassing humans would mean an AI that could replicate itself in more sophisticated versions than it was built. Intelligence includes aptitude for thinking outside of the given parameters, which AI is currently not very good at. Once we hit quantum computing though, this end game is an inevitability.

Don't. You have one life and it is better to live with AI than not at all.
You have to realize that the way it is now there are places it is headed that are both good and bad. An example of the latter would be the melting of the poles due to current human activity (at least to a reasonable degree). If the world stays like it is, that will likely happen within a few decades.
Ultimately, I think it is worth striving for a state of stability like you are describing.
