      Also it's not like the Bourne movies where you can't tell what's going on cause of the shaky cam, you can tell what's happening in the scene. Also gives you a bit of an insight into Cap's headspace of how freaked out by this guy he is

      @4deleDaz33m Před 6 měsíci

      @@cabnbeeschurgr6440Nah, Bourne movies' timing for the quick cut editing is perfect, it doesn't try to hide any stunt work and it works. Another reason why the shaky cam technique works in the Bourne trilogy is that the camera is used in conjunction with other techniques such as editing, sound design, and choreography. These techniques work together to create a cohesive and immersive experience, adding to the tension and intensity of the action scenes. I've seen the Bourne movie many times and it's definitely the better use of shaky cam alongside with The Winter Soldier here
      If you want to see a very poor editing style in an action movie, try watch Taken 3 or Colombiana, now that's a movie where you absolutely cannot tell what the hell is going on because the actors are clearly not invested with the action scenes that they're working on so the quick cut editing was used to hide poor stunt work

    • @MikeMarlowe-ym3zy
      @MikeMarlowe-ym3zy Před 2 dny

      Most movies just use shaky cam and quick cutting to hide sub-par choreography. They fail to realize that these are tools, not blueprints to film scenes. But in this movie they clearly had perfect choreography, and THEN they decided to add these effects in, to portray how intense and confused Nat and Cap are during the fight. So yeah this movie and the Bourne movies kind of understood that while something like Taken does not.

There was a lot of tension and the fact that the Winter Soldier made cap go from trying to stop him to genuinely trying to survive was cool af. You could see Bucky didn’t hold back or pull his punches at all and it barely gave Steve any time to react. And that’s all topped off because of the history Bucky and Steve have. In nwh Tobey’s spiderman just stops Toms spiderman from killing Norman Osborn which was stupid and killed off the built up tension. Green goblin was a menace and should’ve been killed imo

  • @JarvisBaileyVA
    @JarvisBaileyVA Před rokem +62

    Reasons why I love this scene so much.
    For starters the pacing. It's got some quick and dirty cuts but none are to the scene's deficit. They always make sure to linger on things that need it like Cap seeing he got himself an opening after that right cross, the little knife drop and catch that Bucky does, etc.
    Also it's snappy, the sound team made sure you can actually feel the hits that are blocked, the blows that land, the uncomfortable screech of the buck knife cutting metal.
    Then the sheer skill of the choreography. I'm no martial artist but I've seen plenty of videos espousing the skill and I definitely agree. It certainly pulls me in like a Daredevil hallway fight would.
    The camera like with the pacing, knows exactly where to be at any given time. Further back when they're using projectiles to get them both in. Close to them when their engaging so it feels intimate like you're the one fighting. But they also took fun liberties, spinning along with Cap doing that backflip, taking the extra step to show Bucky pulling the knife with a big closeup.
    This scene is really perfect for me

      After watching this, I understand why it seems like Bucky is nerfed.
      Looks like Winter Soldier focuses on guns, knives, and killing blows with his metal arm.
      When we see Bucky fighting, hes focusing on hand to hand combat.
      That, coupled together with Bucky holding back to prevent killing anyone, it makes sense that Bucky is weaker then before.
      I think with some more martial arts training and getting used to non-lethal combat, he'll be as capable as Steve was.

    I love it when a fight scene tells a story, and Cap's technical progression from First Avenger to Winter Soldier is just fun and cool to follow. In the first movie he is all about boxing and wrestling, old school moves, and here it shows that he's been learning other martial arts and improving his skills, from the spinning jump kick to the flying knee and kip up. His enhanced biology and physique gives him the perfect timing, speed and force, so he can really use many of the moves that would be considered too flashy for real combat for a baseline human.

Shields are traditionally used in a defensive posture in the non-dominant hand, but he realises he's going to have to use it as an offensive weapon, so he switches it to his right hand, planning to use it to damage Bucky's arm and then everything he does from there is to try to get outside Bucky's stance so he can use it. Also, Black Widow is a badass trained assassin. It's silly to call her just a regular person.
      Hawkeye has borderline superhuman accuracy with any weapon he picks up. Still not fair to call him a regular person. This is no different than saying Stark is just a regular person without the suit. He was still the, like, 2nd or 3rd smartest person on earth, only behind Pim and maybe Peter Parker or Banner. Most of the Avengers are just regular people with really advanced tech.
      Iron Man has his suits.
      Cap and Bucky have the serum.
      Banner has Hulk, resulting from trying to copy the same serum given to Cap.
      Hawkeye and Widow have badass weaponry and the skill to back it up.
      Falcon has his flight pack.
      Starlord and Rocket just have alien tech.
      Gamora and Nebula have been augmented with alien tech.
      Hardly any of the heroes aren't just regular humanoids with really advanced tech. Even the ones that do have powers are a result of some tech being used on them that gave them powers. The ones that do have natural powers of their own are alien races, like Draxx, Mantis, Thor, etc.
      No suspension of disbelief required. They've spent dozens of movies telling us why the heroes are as strong as they are, and yall keep getting your heads caught up your butts hoping on the WiDoW bAd bandwagon channels like CinemaSins create. Every other villian, cap was able to bring them down with minimal effort. but winter soilder legitimately gave him a run for his money, besting him multiple times throughout the film and actually making him sweat. not a lot of super hero movies do that. they may have the hero lose once or maybe twice but they made cap lose maybe 4 or 5 times in the winter soilder. you know a villian is formidable if they can beat you multiple times in a row.

This means there’s more room for things like character development, and a more linear plot. On top of that, you got these kickass amazingly choreographed fights (with this being no exception), a fantastic villain, and it has less of that dumb MCU humor (it’s fine from time to time, but sometimes, they just go too far with the humor).

Both Steve and The Winter Soldier know that a well connected hit can result in a loss so they do everything in their power to block each other's attacks. They don't just mindlessly attack each other and pop back up in a repetitive exchange of hits

      @wafflingmean4477 Před 5 měsíci +3

      @@sammiepittman3130 I mean... Bucky did disarm Steve when he had the shield (the first time) but you're right about everything else. Most fights either make it way too obvious that the actors are aiming for each other's weapons (instead of using weapons to hit the person) or just swinging wildly at the air around them, or neither even tries to block and almost every hit connects and yet both characters stay standing way longer than they should have because they have plot armour. In this fight, every hit looks like both fighters are genuinely trying to connect each blow and the other is forced to dodge, block or deflect.
      And sure, if a regular person tried to shank Captain America I imagine he has so much muscle mass that you genuinely couldn't do much damage even if he straight up let you do it. You'd be lucky for the blade to even go deep enough to hit an organ. But Bucky has enough force to put behind that blade that he can do real damage with it. A slash wound wouldn't have stopped Steve but ANY of the attempts to stab him would have instantly won Bucky the fight if they'd landed. Knowing that Bucky can hurt Steve and seeing him actually trying is why this fight is so tense. It sounds so basic and yet most movies fail at this.

      i think it is when iron man vs cap and bucky. The tension, the story, the lines and the fight scene. i think this scene it's perfect. the fight is very personal to each character.

    Chris Evans has some of THE BEST facial expressions in the MCU! He really sells this scene since we don’t get to see Sebastian’s face until the end! Definitely in the top 5 of all time Marvel movies!

      For me, I started to suspect that it was Bucky when they goggles came off. Keep in mind, I only watched this in 2020 and I hadn’t seen the credits or watched any other stuff so I didn’t know Bucky was alive before watching.

      @Justin Gary Bucky lost because, bucky was holding back. Winter soldier is not one who holds back. He got way more experience than John walker. Plus, winter soldier can overpower captain america when he is using 2 hands, while bucky is using only 1 hand. So he is stronger than John walker. You can not argue me that us agent is more powerful than cap!

    The thing that makes this fight so good is that in most superhero fights you look at the hero and go "if I had his powers I could totally beat the bad guy" but in this fight you just know "yeah that knife strike would have killed me. I would have been decapitated there. That would have my guts spilled over the road."
