Bucky is the perfect example of when you beat a boss in a game it joins your side but is much weaker.
Reminds me of the Warlock dude in Neverwinter Nights 2.
He once fought the final boss on almost equal footing, cos he imprisoned and drained the power of half a dozen or so demons. It took the entire team to beat him and made him lose the demons. Then he joined you without the demon powers 🤦♂️.
He's not weaker. He just started holding back because he no longer wants to kill every motherfucker in the room. He finally went back to being Bucky and not the Winter Soldier. For him, that wasn't easy to do.
I think he’s just holding back because he’s afraid of losing control again. But Bucky is still badass tho

In the TV series you can notice that Bucky mostly uses his right arm aggressively and his metal arm defensively. This is because Bucky does not want to kill or gravely injure any of his opponents. Even the bad guys .

God I love how Intimidating Winter Solider is. Having a villain be a mute is honestly such a simple yet effective way to make any villain terrifying because it always makes us guess what’s going on inside their head, why they do the things they do.
They did that with taskmaster and it wasn't the same.
They ruined that illusion when they made him say "Hail HYDRA" to that target, though.
During the whole Falcon and the Winter soldier season, he held back..Didn’t use his full potential.. Otherwise the series would've ended on the Truck..😂

Bucky really is the only side character that should have gotten his own show or movie. A living weapon with ptsd trying to find a purpose outside of constant combat would be a good contrast to Steve's constant need to be in combat.

i agree bucky got a nerf in the mini series compared to when he was full winter.
I think the main reason I can think of is he fight to disable people or wanting to stop them from fighting rather than to kill since he been living in a nightmare of all the people he kill I’m sure he won’t go above and beyond.
If he was still programmed to fight to kill I think non of them would have survived hence why the Wakandan tech has a fail safe in case he shows no restraint.

The show had fucking Falcon, a regular human, be more formidable than Bucky was.
Bucky spends the entire show acting as Sam’s shitty bodyguard that’s just there to tank punches and hits.
Take the Walker fight, Bucky, the super soldier, is the one that gets temporarily knocked out, and not Falcon the regular human. How does that make sense?
Holding back isn’t an excuse, holding back doesn’t mean Bucky would struggle so much. Steve also held back a lot, yet his fight scenes were still cool weren’t they?
They just gimped Bucky because they didn’t want him outshining Sam when Sam’s supposed to be the new Captain America.
If Bucky was really holding back like everyone claims he was, then they would have actually said and explored that more. However someone that’s holding back doesn’t destroy a metal pillar attempting to punch someone in the head like Bucky did.

Fun fact: Did you know that FATWS had a planned fight scene between Bucky and Batroc? And Bucky actually struggled with Batroc, a regular human. The fight only got scrapped due to COVID meaning the writers legitimately thought Bucky would struggle against a highly trained human, the same human that we saw Steve Rodgers stomp in seconds.
What about Walker would make him stronger than Bucky exactly? The same Walker that got his absolute ass kicked by the Dora Milaje?
The fight didn’t show Walker to be a better fighter than Bucky, they just made Bucky into a dumbass that forgot all his prior fighting experience.
Just compare Bucky in Civil War to Bucky in FATWS and it’s obvious he got nerfed. Civil War Bucky was holding off and stalemating a bloodlusted Black Panther and an enraged iron man.
Yet he can’t deal with Walker and some thugs on some super serum in FATWS?
That’s the definition of weak.
Do you know what would have been a good message? Showing that even after everything Bucky’s been through, despite holding back due to fear of hurting someone, that he’s still a legend for a reason and completely capable of whipping out his fighting skills in a defensive manner when the fight calls for it.
But no, we got Bucky reduced to a nerfed idiot that doesn’t know how to fight, spends the entire show as Sam’s shitty sidekick and would have gotten his ass kicked by Walker of Sam wasn’t there.
Which especially makes Bucky look like an ass considering he spent the entire show trashing Walker yet couldn’t even back up his trash talk when it came to actually fighting Walker. Pathetic.
FATWS was a travesty to Bucky’s character, it didn’t give a rats ass about him at all, I don’t understand why any actual Bucky fan would defend this dogshit show.
i do think some of his "nerfness" came from his mental state and holding back. if you like how he fights after saves those people, and the dude thanks him for saving them at the end. he then seems to fight a little more intense. hopefully we see some better, more true-to-action fighting from bucky in the future\.

Winter soldier has shown consistently aggressive nature and focused in killing, than fighting
Really puts it into perspective how strong Spider-Man is. When everyone was struggling to fight against Becky with his metal arm, Peter caught it effortlessly like a baseball. Didn’t even realize the caliper of a feat he pulled off when he did it too. Just was having fun.
When u watch all Bucky's fight scenes together, he's really UNSTOPPABLE in CA:TWS. He's still good now, but mellower. That WS soundtrack & the sound his metal arm make are just *chef kiss*.
Bucky is the definition of the Boss in game which is overpowered when u fight it and a clown when its on Ur side.
I feel like his fight scenes were very disappointing in Falcon & Winter Soldier compared to Russo flicks. I get it, he is supposed to be holding back or whatever, but that's no excuse to have unimaginative action scenes. They did a really good job showing Falcon's ingenuity and creativity during fights, but were extremely lazy with Bucky having him just delegated to a guy who punches hard.

Why did I think this? Well at the timestamp Steve had a choice. If he was too reliant on the shield, he would've gone to grab it. Instead he got right back up and into the fight without it. Because he is more than just the shield. Felt like that had to be said.

Bucky has almost similar reflexes like daredevil because of how quick and easy he can catch whatever is being thrown at him
To all the people that say Bucky is holding back and that’s why he’s weaker in this show, consider this. He’s a super soldier with a vibranium arm and possibly the most experienced fighter alive since he was used by Hydra as an assassin for so many decades. We know he remembers his life (and more importantly his training) as the winter soldier because of the line “I remember all of them” from civil war. He should be able to effortlessly beat them in a fight without hurting them badly, but that would be inconvenient for the story these writers wanted to tell.
If he was still in the “winter soldier” persona he would’ve beat the living shi out of everyone here but because he’s Bucky he’s just 100x stronger than the strongest man on earth eh

Well they also received training from Sharon Carter. And while that may still not be enough for one Flag Smasher to take down Bucky, it's the added fact that they are also Super Soldiers, and physically match him. And we've seen that Bucky doesn't have the easiest time with Super Soldiers. Steve equalled him, Black Panther was stronger than him, and he even needed Sam to help him double team John Walker. The Flag Smashers always attacked Bucky at the same time. Getting tackled by a group of moderately trained individuals that are just as strong as him will give him trouble.

I don't think that's true. If anything, Bucky wanted to hurt Walker more than Sam. He hated him the entire series and said he wanted to fight him right before the battle.

Watching this after the end of MCU Phase 4 and I am like, MCU movies those days had an absolute display of action. Hand fights are shown best here. The sync between the characters of MCU is beautiful. MCU was legit building an empire those days

One of my favorite little details about Civil War is that first fight between Tony and Bucky, where Bucky is being controlled. In spite of his own reservations, and Bucky attempting actively to kill someone, he trusts and respects Steve enough to that he switches entirely to nonlethal weapons.
Contrast this with the final fight where he is trying his hardest to kill Bucky.
