Welcome to the madness that is the NFL Draft, where we anticipate a man stepping up to a podium to announce names. To be fair, it is a good time for everyone involved, especially for the men that get the call from GM's and HC's alike. Drafted players all and the same. This video is dedicated to the first round of the NFL Draft in 2024.

The *only* logical reason I can fathom that the Falcons picked Penix is that they're incredibly scared of what the penalty will be for tampering with Cousins. Well, that or they think that Cousins is going to turn things around so fast that they won't be in good drafting position for a while so they're grabbing their QB of the future now.
Of course, that's assuming that they're not just, you know, stupid.
weird idea: they're using him as leverage for if a team becomes desperate in the next 1-2 years, they have a promising young quarterback who they kinda don't need that they can trade away for more draft capital. Maybe Bryce Young doesn't pan out and the Panthers are desperate and there's no one good in the draft, maybe Stafford gets old and starts breaking down and the Rams need someone who can ride the bench and start a few, either way the Falcons can be straight on the phone swindling them out of picks.
The falcons only need after the end of last season was QB. They were basically the 2019 Buccaneers. If Kirk performs they should be capable of making a deep playoff run. And with Kirks contract only being guaranteed for 2 years, Penix will sit and learn how to be a pro QB for 2 years to ensure he's ready and he will become their franchise QB for the next decade.

1. Becoming a good QB for the Bears, a team that hasn't developed a QB since Jay Cutler.

I’m from Detroit born and raised, and I’ll tell you, they wouldn’t even let some people in because it was at capacity all 3 days. If they had anticipated a bigger number than 750,000 and built around that. It could have easily been higher. They could have expanded so much deeper into the city. It was incredible
Shattered is a better word, Detroit shattered the record. So proud of Detroit, wish I could have been there to assist to that count but plane travel is expensive

Penix may have went sooner than late in the 1st to the Broncos. They were desperate for a qb.
Its only a 2 year deal with options to extend after the second year. The only need the falcons had after the end of last season was QB. They were basically the 2019 Buccaneers. They secured their short term future with Kirk and their long term future with Penix.
Penix seems more like a "I want this so no one else can" pick.
Especially with past rumors about the Raiders drafting him at #13
There were also rumors that the Saints were going to move up to grab him.

To be fair on Belichick's criticism of Maye, coach was doing inside-baseball type critical film reviews of _all_ the first round picks, and specifically noted that all the QB's have something to work on. I think that people have taken his comments out of context a bit simply because of the past with the Pats, but the actual criticisms (and praise) he offered seemed pretty reasonable IMO.
Apparently, Arthur Blank was the one who wanted to draft Penix. I get that you don't want to have another Desmond Ridder situation since Taylor Heinicke is your backup or future when Cousins leaves. But you had 2 great edge rushers right there. You haven't had a decent edge rusher since John Abraham.
If this pick doesn't work out, Falcons fans may have to go the Washington route of demanding the owner to sell the team.
It makes me want to drive around Charlotte with a sign saying "sell the team Tepper" probably get ran off the road.
The owner said that Tepper showing up was more of a rib. Call it a mountain out of a molehill.

My Broncos’ draft was actually underrated. We got our QB, even if we got him a little high. But we also got gems in Troy Franklin, Jonah Elliss, and Audric Estimé. I’m actually optimistic that we won’t be hot garbage this year, but we’ll certainly be warm garbage
As long as nix is good next year I'm happy

My only hope for my Ravens in the draft was simply address the O-Line, a wide receiver or 2 & maybe some defensive replacements. Overall, I'm okay with how they did especially considering this team molds defensive players like clay

The actual reason that the 49ers picked Pearsall was because of the Super Bowl. That botched punt was painful, and it's more than likely why the Niners let go of Ray Ray McCloud during free agency.
That botched punt isn't as painful as losing because of things outside your control like 57. An overwatered in a desert stadium with a feature to roll the grass stadium outside to get some sun and the worst-timed penalty in the history of the Super Bowl? The wrong team won in 57. The Eagles were fucked as we are always are in Super Bowls.
