Time flies, don't it? It's been five years since the infamous 2019 NFL Draft that took place in Nashville. Every bridal party flipped out over their bachelorette parties being ruined and every fan was hoping their team would do well. The first round has been an interesting mix of players. This video is in dedication to that first round (and the probably horrible takes I had at the time).

I actually appreciate Tree not using the bust rating/sound effect for Haskins. Even if his NFL career was likely over, still just doesn't feel right. Rest in Peace, if only you were still around, maybe we'd be seeing you in the UFL trying to bounce back.

Tree has always been one of the classiest guys in sports media. Very few people handle that subject matter so well.
Crazy to think that Nick Bosa was in this draft. Honestly feels like he’s been in the NFL longer with how important he has been to the 49ers
That 49ers draft that year was insane. Nick Bosa, Deebo Samuel and Dre Greenlaw all in one year
It's always when guys are immediately effective when you think they're 5 years older than they are

People also forget about jalen Hurd. He looked like a proto deebo Samuel in the pre season but injuries derailed his career

I personally love how every single person who hated the Danny Jones pick was vindicated. The number of angry reaction videos that came out after the draft was crazy. Just shows that your average fan knows a lot more than a GM sometimes.
I mean he's not really THAT bad, just the team around him is trash. I don't think he's Drew Brees or anyone special, but he really could be insane with a team that isn't a huge pile of trash (management/coach wise, the players they have are some really talented people just being given bad plays to run).
Especially if that GM is a fat loser like Dave Gettleman

All Giants fans I knew were screaming, crying, throwing up for Haskins. They picked the better qb.
@@johndavis9321 this is true, but it doesn't change the fact that the Giants probably could have gotten him much later in the draft and instead used that pick to get him the O-linemen or Receivers he would need to actually succeed.

The Eagles did get their franchise left tackle. It just wasn’t Dillard. They got Jordan Mailata in the SEVENTH round the previous year. Dillard was still a major bust but that makes up for it.

It wasn’t just him. The amount of Giants fan rage reactions to that pick are plentiful.
That ending has me already excited for next year's 2020 Draft Revisit, both for all the COVID weirdness and also as a Bengals fan. (Then again, we will also have to discuss Henry Ruggs one more time, who I imagine getting the total opposite of what Dwayne Haskins (R.I.P) got here - the angriest, most empathic "Bust" in UTree Draft Revisit history.)
There's also Jeff Gladney who is no longer with the living unfortunately.
@@codydhf3Jeff Gladney will at least get the Dwayne Haskins treatment, but to think he was on Arizona’s practice squad in 2021 just one year after being drafted by the Vikings proves that sadly, Gladney was a bust.
@@darealconmanDisagree. Your rookie year can be really bad but if, say, Bryce Young helps the Panthers out of the hole in his next couple years to where they're competitive then it wouldn't be fair to call him a bust.
All this to say one year is not long enough to evaluate talent in a 5 year context.
I might not have liked Haskins as a player, but he was taken from us way too damn soon. RIP

I will never forgive Belichick for taking N'Keal Harry in this draft. I understand that no one can see the future and that it's not easy scouting NFL talent, but in this draft you could've thrown darts at names on a wall and come away with a more impactful receiver than Harry. Deebo, AJ, DK, and TMac were all on the board at the time and we could've seen them play with Tom Brady.
It's weird to think this draft was only 5 years ago. Players like Kyler feel like they've been in the league for a decade

The COVID effect. 2020 alone felt like it was 5 years.
As a Raiders fan, what you gotta understand about the Gruden and Mayock era was who was in charge of making selections. Gruden exercised a lot more authority over the first round picks, and he seemed to make faaar worse selections than Mayock, who did most of the later round picks. Obviously Mayock had his flaws in team building and evaluating still, but a number of his non-first round picks actually turned out much better than the general conception people have of the team’s drafting capabilities
Very classy to not rate Haskins after what happened to him. It was the right thing to do. RIP Dwayne.

Missed on N'Keal but then picked up a really solid depth option in Meyers. 2019 was weird as a new England fan. It was the beginning of the end but we still had hope that it wouldn't be.
As a 49ers fan, I'm gonna savor Tree calling Nick Bosa a successful pick because I don't want to talk about 2020 or 2021.

I am a Cardinals fan, and I was a HUGE Rosen guy.
I. Was. PISSED!!! when we drafted Kyler, and for the first time in my life was throwing things around the room like in those insane sports fan videos you see a lot.
Kyler had his moments, but I was never a believer until this past season. I LOVE our now run heavy offense, and Kyler spends more time under Center than in Shotgun.
He ran the offense beautifully, and he finally won me over.
Yeah, we only won 4 games, but I was expecting that.
Regardless, Go Cardinals!!!!

Ron Rivera completely sabotaged Dwayne Haskins. He moved the goal posts for him so many times and his mistakes were used to cover Ron's ass. Literally he made a statement that Dwayne had to get better stats. Dwayne put his his career best game and Ron benched him cuz he took the checkdown on a 4th and goal. It was ridiculous.
Scott Turner’s offense was never a fit for him and he really wanted Kyle Allen to be his starter.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Scouting is way harder than anyone knows. If drafting was easy, Mel Kiper Jr. would actually be halfway decent at it.
There's SO many factors that go into it. Character, size, injuries, speed, current system of coordinators...just insane.

The selection of Daniel Jones and Dwayne Haskins came also with the opportunity cost of thinking that their teams didn't need a QB in the 2020 draft, leading to the Giants and Washington not drafting Tua or Herbert.
I have very little attachment to Washington or their concerns, but that was exactly the way Haskins should be handled in this retrospective. Solid work once again, Tree +1

This was an interesting draft, and I also still remember me and my dad laughing our asses off at the Daniel Jones selection
