The fact that you're able to put together a top 40 of singles from 1966 from your collection is an impressive feat in itself! According to Discogs I only have one 7" from 1966 in my collection - Napoleon XIV's They're Coming to Take Me Away. A classic for sure 🙂
have just discovered your channel a few weeks ago and enjoying your 60s singles countdowns, your top 5 of 66 is spot on, you have a great collection, cheers

Hi 👋 1966 I remember well. I like Lee Dorseys song Working in a Coalmine. It was coverd in the early 1980s by New Wave band Devo. Other songs I like from that year are - Bobby Fuller Four and their song Loves made a Fool of You , Lou Christie's hit Lightning Strikes . I liked Go Go dancing then. 🕺 I would copy dance moves that the Go Go dancers were doing on the TV pop music show C' mon here in New Zealand . You have a good selection of old 45s there. From Carl.
Hi Chris, You've been in my back room again you scallywag! It is really noticeable how many Motown artists were producing such wonderful stuff in '66 and so many other years in that era. I don't know if it was ever a hit in the UK but 'Tar & Cement' by Verdelle Smith would be a worthy addition to that list. A One-Hit-Wonder, but a great voice and a very good song. Thanks for the posts you ... post... I suppose. They always remind me of things I haven't listened to for a long time and motivate me to reinvestigate my archive. Peter
Love that Bob Lind one, although considered an easy listening tune it was extremely popular with American GI's in Vietnam who related the lyrics to their experiences fighting the Viet-Cong.
Hi Chris I have that Nuggets album! Wonderful stuff! As I've said before have most of these on compilations not singles! Yep cheating! 😆 I can't argue with your choices! A mention for Val Doonican!😂 😂😂😂
Good choices from my favorite pop music year. But to me the greatest pop song of 66 was Good Vibrations by The Beach boys. It was a landmark use of studio production at the time, and nothing sounded like it.
Hello again Chris, more fantastic choices, cant argue with any of them. Theres a couple more in my collection that you may or may not have. Anything by The Walker Brothers, Winchester Cathedral by The New Vaudeville Band, They're Coming To Take Me Away by Napoleon XIV and The Pied Piper by Crispian St Peters to name but a few. An excellent year for some really good songs. I'll also take you back to one of my favourite bands which ive mentioned after one of your vids, London, a great punk band that done a brilliant version of Friday On My Mind by The Easybeats. Not sure if your familiar with London , I've got the only lp, 3 singles, one of which is an ep, 12" & 7" and the cd. Sorry for rabbiting on but love your video's. 😂

Thanks as always Chis, A great selection. Think i might have almost all of them. Highway 61 technically 65 as it was on same album as Like a Rolling stone. As for Beatles it would be Paperback writer and Beach boys Good vibrations. It would be interesting to hear how you go about finding all these records. Especially in sleeves in such good condition. Are the records all in great condition? How do you store your 45s. You only see video's of racks of albums and cds.
@@barrystagg5479 quite a lot of my choices may have charted in the year but were released the year before I have all my 45s in plastic sleeves and in boxes. Have picked them up over the last 40 years
Stay with Me by Lorraine Ellison is a great song which I don't think I've ever owned on any format. I thought you might mention the Fall's version of R Dean Taylor's 'Ghost in My House'!
