Thanks Chris, 'Farewell To Kings' is a superb Rush album, the track, 'Cygnus X1', has a brilliant summary of a black-hole in outer space, "Invisible to telescopic eye, infinity, the star that would not die".
Saw Rush, AC/DC (with Bon Scott), Bad Company, Thin Lizzy, and Black Sabbath with Van Halen supporting all at the Colston Hall in Bristol in the 1970's. Those were the days!
Hi Chris, loving your great vidoes, they bring back so many memories of collecting rock and NWOBHM back in school in the late 70's. I also got Styx blue collar man but mine was the blue vinyl 7" version. Dont know how i come to buy mine either but i love it and the pices if eight album it came from. Keep up the good work. Best wishes, Mark.
Interesting selection Chris, agree with wishing well, a classic, to me, far better than alright now. Would have had Quo's paper plane in there, and finally, i used to have the 12 inch of hold the line by Toto, that would be in my top 10.
Hi Chris technical issues I'm back! Omg I have most of these in a storage box from my DJ days 😳 yep find the box! It wasn't my disco you went to? Wonderful stuff Chris! 😊
@@TheVinylOrchard I did but the heathens sometimes kept shouting play F*****g Dance best memory a drunken thug who shouted a lot Smashed his glass and cut his hand open! While taking him away a wag in the audience said Mate is that the F*****g dance? 😆
There were so many brilliant classic rock songs in the 70s that it makes choosing just 40 very hard, but you did a good job Chris. Though I'd probably have the two Dutch bands fighting it out for the top spit. And I'd have gone for Paper Plane to represent Quo. No Stones? Would Sparks with This Town and David Essex with Rock On count here? Cheer... Pete
Latter two I have shown before and for me are classic rock. I don’t regard the stones as classic rock either. Quo Was a difficult decision. Thanks for watching again Pete
Great selection there Chris. I probably pick Paranoid as my fav. Quo went too poppy from mid 70s onwards, but Paper Plane stood out for me. With Free, most go for All Right Now, but I'd pick The Stealer
I haven't owned any vinyl for literally decades but used to own a number of these singles myself. Seeing those 'This Planet's On Fire' and 'Touch Too Much' picture sleeves sent me way back. Great Memories! Radar Love by Golden Earring is obviously brilliant but the White Lion version off the Album 'Big Game' is even better. Check it out if you haven't heard it, you won't be disappointed. Thank You Thank You for giving my boys 'Uriah Heep' a mention! 😀 I used to get a lot of stick for liking them!
This is all, about the nostalgia. I think that’s why people watch these videos tbh. First time I ever saw cocaine being used was at a Uriah Heep concert. Blagged free entry and sat with the lighting guy. Even operated a couple of lights during Easy Living!! Radar love is a 100% bonafide classic. Cheers Gary
@@TheVinylOrchard I saw Heep at Poole Arts Center on the 'Conquest' Tour in I guess about 1980. John Sloman was the vocalist at that time and he only lasted 1 album. It was still a good concert though. I remember them playing one of my favourite tracks, Free 'n' Easy, twice which was a bonus, albeit a bit strange. I also remember Mick Box having a drink in the bar afterwards and chatting with the fans. A really great guy and sadly the only member of the classic line-up still with us.
@GaryWoodfield I met the lighting guy in the mermaid before that gig. He took me back stage to meet the band and I sat with him at the lighting desk during that concert even operating some of the lights during one song. He was off his tits on coke by the end! Think it was the last gig of the tour possibly. I was in lower sixth.
Thanks again Chris goes without saying everyone a classic. Though I'm not sure about Rainbow being no. 1, but hey who cares. A 45 released in 1970, but actually recorded in 68. Voodoo Chile by Hendrix, definitely in my top 10, along with about 50 others!!!!!! Also no Layla by Derek &..... Wonder where you are going next? Perhaps top twenty European bands. Thanks for reminding us in this digital age the shear joy of singles. After all that's how most of us of a certain age started our record collections.
Rainbow was a nostalgic pick possibly. Having said that I continue to play it almost every week. Love it! Considered Hendrix but saw it as a 68 song. I like Layla but I get so bored hearing it now and struggle with Clapton generally. It’s cover songs next! Thank you so much for watching and supporting the channel. Cheers Barry, chris
Alright Chris, yet again another great choice of vinyl. I used to love (The) Sweet. I saw them in nightclub in the village i lived in Stockton towards the end in the early 80's. They were pretty good, for me it was their album tracks and 'b' sides that got me into them. I've always thought they were a lot better than that Chinn/Chapman stuff, Andy Scott, great guitarist and Mick Tucker was an amazing drummer. Shame none of them are with us now.
Yes, ‘Elected’ is one of Alice Cooper’s very best. I’m ashamed to say I don’t own a copy. I think (The) Sweet straddle the edge between hard rock and pop / glam and ‘Action’ is a good example. Some great choices here. Take care, John.
Great picks, Chris. Dio featuring on your #1 is excellent! I agree on Free's Wishing Well over All Right Now - might be that the latter is just over played. Maybe on the same grounds I edge Boston's Don't Look Back over MTAF. A couple of other favourites are Nazareth's Bad Bad Boy and Queen's Seven Seas Of Rhye (the end of the 'classic rock' road for them?).
You forgot the worst seventies band did one of the best songs.....crazy horses. Next by Alex Harvey/dancing the night away Motors. My brains switched off but there were many better than your choices, Mountain etc. My favourite Stray, You missed your favourite Lets go to the disco by Marlon Purple records did some crap too.
All subjective Frank. Included Crazy Horses in a previous vid and of course Motors. Have no 45s of Mountain or Stray. I have that Marlon single. Mmmm not sure. Thanks for watching my friend, Cheers, Chris

Love the album and the band
love that Hagar single, a favourite of mine as well

👋 Hi. The Sweet did a good song in 1978 titled Love is like Oxygen. The guitar riff in it is so cool.
Great song. Interesting Lp too
No sorry - Allright Now - Free - all time classic rock no.1 all day long.
Not for me I’m afraid

Quo was a tough call. Included Toto in a previous vid and should have probably included it again. Thanks for watching Gary, chris
Excellent collection paranoid my favourite
I still love it

Some great tunes for sure

Contemplated Nazareth and to a point Queen. Not a huge fan of the latter. Just can’t stand May’s guitar tone
Totally not my scene so I can't really comment except to say that Sweet tune is an absolute banger 🧨😂
Fabulous song
