I can remember 29 of these, more than the 1963 tunes. I was eight at the time, but used to love watching these artists on the tv and listening on the radio. A lot of the stateside/ motown tracks are still played today at motown/soul nights. I indeed use to play them when i used to dj at the local youth club in my early teens. 1962 , the track that started my interest in music was Telstar
Lovely tunes released in 64, your crates run deep. Definitely agree with you about Downtown, a record I play in sets quite often. Walk On By is great too (although I might prefer The Stranglers version). I am a big jazz fan and Ella Fitzgerald released a excellent version of Can't Buy Me Love on Verve in 1964. Looking forward to more of these.
Another great nostalgic trip down memory lane. Sam the Sham, love that song, along with the Shangri-Las, which Dave Vanian or Brian James not sure which, stole the opening words 'Is She Really Going Out With Him' for New Rose. Great choices thanks.
Another great video, Chris. I love watching them all. I would probably add 'Glad All Over' by Dave Clark Five and another of Roy Orbison's masterpieces: 'It's Over'.
@@statictraveller great choices. Hope all is well. I plan to do 63-69. I am missing some significant singles but hopefully enough to interest folk. Cheers my friend
Hi, Chris. I can tell your dear mum was an influence on you if you have jazz classics plus Downtown & Goldfinger in your collection. I love Rosalyn by the Pretty Things. I heard it thanks to Bowie's "Pin-Ups". Just a bit of trivia for you . The harmonica solo in "My Boy Lollipop" was young Rod Stewart! Another great video. Thanks, Chris!
Hi Chris,Got all these on 45's too apart from the Pretty Things one and my Leader Of The Pack is on the Red Bird label. Some all times classics there Well Done! ,Ian
It is heresy 😂 it's Over - Roy Orbison the big one missing, what a singer. I'd add Little Children - Billy J Kramer & The Dakotas, just cos it was no.1 when I arrived 👍😂
I can't believe all these classics came out in 64! Again I have them on compilations or albums by the artist! Brilliant collection Chris! 👍
@@ianemery4355 some classics for sure
I'm a bit older than you Chris, I cherish those songs! I remember jiving to 'Lollipop' at children's parties I went to🎉. Guess I'm a Soul Man.
Great stuff isn’t it!
What an amazing bunch of singles in company sleeves.
Love a company sleeve. Always insist on having the right one! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Cheers sir, Chris

@@debroahtaylor6398 a better year than 63 by miles I think
I loved 'Telstar' at 4 yrs of age, and 'Wheels'.
@iconicshrubbery not sure what my first musical memory is.

I too prefer The Stranglers version. Will look out for Ella Fitzgerald. Cheers Mark, Chris

My mum did like Bossa Nova. Didn’t know that about our Rod!
64 was the year I was born 😃 A Hard Days Night was #1 when I was born! Not a bad song to have as your “birth song”!
Indeed not!
i was born that year my favourite song from then has to be 'Don't Worry Baby' by the Beach Boys. Keep up the great content cheers!
@@SteveF1210 that’s a good tune. Cheers Steve

I need to get hold of the original Shangri-La single as I love it so much
@@TheVinylOrchard Yes,An absolute classic,Ian
My favourite would be the animals my favourite band from that area.
Good band

Need to remind myself of that RO single. Don’t have it
Downtown would be my choice for 64, think it epitomised the 60's along with Waterloo sunset. Also I'm sure Jimmy Page played on Baby please don't go.
Not sure he was. Never been confirmed. Downtown is tremendous
You had better make the Byrds Mr Tambourine man number one in 65 or I will send the Batchelors round your house.
I look forward to welcoming them 😂
Shangri las were on Red bird, 4 seasons was Rag doll not the awful silence is golden.
Four Seasons did the original Silence is golden, Tremeloes covered it .
@@stepheng8779 It as the b side.
Would love to have the Shangri-La’s LP
@@TheVinylOrchard I simply purchased the comprehensive cd, Brilliant.
Love the cover of the original. Would love to have it to frame it m
