For me, there can only be one at number one, my all time favourite single My Generation, by the Who. Must have been only 7, when I first heard it. Been my favourite single ever since. First saw them live in 74, and when they played it live...wow. Next time I felt like that, was probably Anarchy by the Pistols. As always a fantastic watch Chris. Your videos are becoming a real highlight for me. Thanks
Hi Chris, more fantastic choices, I get real enjoyment out of you're videos. I'm more of a techno-phobe. CZcams is as far as I go, I'm not on social media outlets and it was pure accident I found you on here. Anyway, there's one record I will always remember from 65, and its The Seekers, The Carnival Is Over, I can remember my mother playing it to death. About 25 years ago I found a greatest hits by them in a charity shop for £1, so I bought it, and it wasn't half bad. Best pound I've ever spent I think. 😊
Another great list Chris. I was born in 1965 so this was of special interest to me. Mr Tambourine Man was number 1 the day I was born so good to see that one. I agree with you about California Dreaming, such a wonderful record. The Tom Jones is always a big favourite too. Still fills dance floors now. Tracks I have from 65 that I really like are King Of The Road by Roger Miller, The In Crowd by Dobie Gray, Streak-O-Lean b/w La Bamba by Mongo Santamaria, and Misty by 'Groove' Holmes (although the last two are US releases and didn't get a UK release). I have quite a lot of jazz and soul 45s from around this time too.1965 certainly was a great year for releases. Cheers.
Wot no Ken Dodd? 😉 I'm torn between Help & Ticket to Ride, too difficult to choose. Purely for nostalgia & my mum I'd have something from the Seekers, memories from a happy time ❤ And cos it still makes me laugh A walk in the Black Forest, it was the only record they had on The Goodies radio station 😂 you have to be a certain age to remember 🍻
I believe Barry McGuire was asked to be in the Mamas and Papas. I can’t argue with your #1. This may be the first 60’s singles video I’ve watched. I will go back and watch the others.
So many of these songs get rerecorded by many other artists over the years, and this still goes on today, particularly in the dance music world. The Animals, Don't let me be misunderstood being one of them. I have a copy of a bootleg, recorded by Eve Gallagher, then remixed by a dance music producer, which went down very well in the various clubs. Perhaps the most well known is Steve Winwoods' Valerie, which became a bootleg by Red Kult, before becoming a huge hit for Eric Prydz as Call on me. Not sure, but i believe steve winwood gave the go ahead to use his recording .

Bless you Barry. Thank you for those kind words. Saw the who in about 80. Would have loved to see them in their heyday.
