- This is an older video sent to me by a fan on Discord. I had not seen this video before now, despite it being rather old. But after watching it, I couldn't resist responding. Yet another in a long line of horrible videos trying to teach the secret horrors of knights while also being not only dishonest, but horribly inept. This one though...might be the worst one yet in terms of production quality. See for yourself!
- Hry
"Somebody is spewing bullshit on the internet."
"Meh."
"About knights."
"Son, fetch me my sword under your bed. We're retaking Jerusalem."
According to legends, William Wallace was also a time traveler. It's why he was able to do what he did in the 1920s. Does his atrocities know no bounds?!!!
I love that two of his *TERRIFYING* facts were "being a knight is expensive" and "knights may have pissed their pants".
I'm petrified.
Yeah, they said it like people don't piss their pants. Even I have done it, granted, I haven't done it in years. But I refuse to believe nobody has pissed their pants at least once, and if you haven't you're lying.
@@_Umbrael_ especially considering we're talking about warriors on an ancient battlefield. They had bigger things to worry about than the nearest bush for a bathroom break.
Wait why does it say this comment was 13 years ago
@@Adam-hs9ft because you've been bamboozled

The historian in me is crying at all these inaccuracies that were peddled as fact.
Honestly I have found Facts Verse always peddle lies and opinions as fact.
HORRIFYING FACT YOU MAY NOT KNOW: it took a while to put on a massive full body suit made of metal. They weren’t iron man suits kids.
I needed to find the video to make sure that it wasn't a April fool.
Also if the Middle Ages was so brutal and dark that some people claims I don't think that we would have gotten out of it.
I also hate all that "Knights bad because the Crusades"...
"Knights not perfect by modern standards so all knights bad forevers and evers!"
Yeah, let's not forget what kicked off the crusades, the Turks had taken the Holy Lands and other lands from the Byzantines, if Islamic nations hadn't invaded Christian lands there wouldn't have been any crusades
Knights who didnt participated in the crusades:😐
Let's not forget they're finally dressed three-piece suits with plate mail placed on top of them and there fedoras gently placed on top of their helmets LOL
Source: It was revealed to me in a dream!
Also, you telling me you don't remember William Wallace fighting in the Battle of the Somme?! Shame on you.
The most terrifying fact out of this bunch is that this video actually exists...
No, no, no. It wasn't a battle, it was a bottle!
I actually attempted to find the John Arundell character, and I found three figures of the family Arundells of Lanherne. Guess what: NONE OF THEM MENTIONED R*PING NUNS!!!!!!!
really? Nothing? You sure theres nothing at least hinting that? This facts verse guy maby horrible inept at what he does here, but surely he wouldn't get something as serius and awful like that rong... Right?
It's not that many knights came from noble families. It's actually the other way around.
Most noble families came from knights.
For a channel called Fact Verse, he gets a lot of facts wrong.
Medieval knights 1920s
Lol
I can't stop Imagining the mafia games for everyone's wearing suits of armor LOL
The competitions were also for VERY high stakes quite often, and winning a tournament could win you a reputation and set you up for life.
EDIT: The criticized video had it comin'.
This has got to be one of your best responses yet. Just your reaction and the video your responding to itself is more funnier than your earlier responses, not that they weren’t funny or entertaining to begin with. If anything, all your responses are entertaining and I watch them constantly, but this recent one was so funny, espeically when he said about Hugh de Cressingham’s occupation in the 1920s 😂😂😂😂
Medieval depiction of battle scene fits nicely inside of bottle miniature ship in a bottle but battle scenes LOL
You could always look at viking "themed" tv shows and media glorifying and making them look infallible. I get you got sorta sick of vikings but just a suggestion.
That’s a good suggestion. I’ll see if I can do that sometime
Man, i Remember when i had an argument with a guy Who was Saying Vikings were not raiders, actually, but Just peace-loving traders and farmers.
That was a very strange argument to have.
@@inserisciunnome they did farm but with the population growing they had to raid to keep up
@@AArbiter yep! And to be Fair, also did trade extensively.
I can totally see why that guy was trying to defend them as he believed i saw them as utter savages, but going THAT Far into the other direction was Just laughtable
I dont want to sound like an asshole, but can you tell me where are Vikings glorified. Everytime I see something with them they tend to be portrayed as occasional raiders who also had slaves. Tbh I don't watch things like the Viking tv show so I don't know.
Is anybody else noticed that for Honor wardens are like Jedi but without magic
How you figure?
If you want to tell me that a Wardens is taught both Icelandic and Japanese I would believe it
I feel like every channel that titles their videos with “Horrifying Facts” are either made by people with skin so thin it’ll rip by the smallest gust of wind or these people are just trolling for click baiting. To their credit, at least they profit off of their trolling, which is more than I can say for every other troll.
Thank you for correcting videos that slander Knights like this!
Okay but how much of that section of the William Wallace legend was grossly exaggerated to make him seem more terrifying or to demonise him by the English? Or to scare them by the Scots? Could have happened but yk.
I have yet to see a noble depiction of a knight in Hollywood media.
William wallace techhnically in braveheart lol but he looks like 15th century highlander instead of the knight he was
Didn't you know? The actions of one man or one man and those under his command are a representation of the whole number of whatever is to be represented. This is now a modern fact. joking.
I'm going to bottle on For Honor now.
Technically post ww2 with nuremberg trial of yamaoto
@@funbro99 something to look into after I finish midterm exams.
@@funbro99 who are you talking about? The name looks like misspelled Japanese (compared to names I know, anyway), but the Nuremberg trials were with regard to Germans. No Japanese were involved. There were a few similar trials for some Japanese, but they weren’t part of the one you’re referencing.
The closest name I can think of based on what you wrote is Yamamoto, and he was dead for a couple of years by the time the war ended. Did you mean Yamashita? He definitely got in trouble for certain actions.
@@John-fk2ky I wrote incorrectly yamamoto and I meant to write Yamashita.
Facts are not Legends but legends never die the great confusion
"They may take our beer, but they'll never take OUR FREEDOM!!" -William Wallace, 1922, according to legend
great video as always. The video covering the inaccuracies was alright to
These knights were led by the Dans the kings of the streets LOL
I love these commentary style videos, looking forward to the next one
LOL medieval knights riding into battle on their hot rods killing the Sultan's Muslim Soldiers with their tommy guns and Colt 1911s LOL
I think I just had an aneurysm after watching that. I mean there's bad videos, and then there's whatever the hell that was you responded to.
LOL sir Knight died taking a s*** in the Netflix Witcher
That’s why I think Game of Thrones has the best representation of realistic knights in fantasy. They’re obviously not, but I think it shows more of how real knights acted and how complex they were as a whole. Some were loyal, caring, and honorable; while others were cruel, deceptive, and cowardly. Some were a mixture of either positive and negative qualities.
Yes I am sure François II participed in a tourney with full knowledge that his life was in great danger...
A legend can be a fact but it also may just be a blown out of proportion rumor that stuck…
Teacher gives us to F PowerPoint presentation LOL
I died after seeing boba fett and jango fett
pretty much says it all
What makes the 1920s error so egregious to me is that it’s clearly a typo in the video’s script. I could understand the numbers getting mixed up in an initial draft so that 1290s accidentally gets written as the 1920s. What makes it go off the rails is the fact that apparently, neither the script writer (assuming the script writer is a different person than the narrator) nor the narrator noticed it. And then it gets even worse because the narrator just blindly read what was on the script and didn’t even bother to fix the script error or record a second take 🤣
yes another video keep up the good work
We sure facts verse isn’t run by a machine at this point?
Thought this was about gotham knights also i think i could find some dumb stuff for you to debunk also the voice actor has nothing to do with the scrips or facts and he's pretty common in low quality youtube work
These "facts" are so loosely pieced together it's like they made a presentation at the last minute and just loosely pieced together half-remembered details that even remotely related to knights, without regard for context, impact, or coherence.
Why would you wear something like that if you're not appointing all the time bursting through your arm or something like that wouldn't be necessary could you imagine what your horse would think having you rub your iron shaft against it's back
LOL do you get to the Cloud District very often what am I saying of course you don't
Minutes into the video:
"Terrifying facts"...
The op already lost me.
he sounds like an ai that tells you to “click on the image that -“
raven on the mistreatment of peasantry i'd like to shine light on the assemblies of peace and truce that ocurred in the catalano aragonese kingdoms during the 1000 i think , those were essentially parlaiments oficiated by the church in order to put an end to overall climate of strife betwen feudal landlords and very, very angry peasants.
Hold on its Merlin and Arthur Pendragon!😱
5 seconds in - could you consider using some range filters or something on your mic? You're instantly and constantly piquing out your microphone which is scratchy as all hell.
Raven for people researching the knights who would be a good choice to watch?
@Shadiversity is an excellent source of information.
I also recommend @Metatron. Those are two excellent channels to start with.
Also, Scholagladiatoria
Arne Koets is another good source
Yo we need to talk about how that guy sounds a little like lark. He could a traitor!
By old I thought you meant like 10 years ago .-.
Love the video as usual, though it is a bit repetitive. Granted, this video echoes the same dumb points as the other “Knights are actually pieces of sh*t” videos so I suppose I can’t really blame you for that.
Also…not to be rude, but has more recent medieval films really showcase this “Knights are actually pieces of sh*t” narrative? I mean, I just saw Outlaw King on Netflix and they, or at least the Scottish side, weren’t acting like little sh*ts. The English definitely do but they are portrayed as the bad guys in the film so guess it was expected there.
That’s a VERY recent film (slightly less so at the time I’m commenting, obviously). Most depictions of knights I’ve seen that could be called modern treat any good ones as the exception. The only example made in my lifetime I can think of that did the reverse was a kids movie, Quest for Camelot.
I mean, to make blanket statements that all knights are good or bad is generally just ignorant. When I was younger, I made the same assumptions based on pop culture and my limited understanding at the time. Ultimately, knights had a job, and those duties weren't performed under the same banner, so saying all knights are evil is like saying all veterans are evil, regardless of their conduct. Some knights probably did do some nasty shit, but that can't be said for all knights, and honestly, the same things can applied to any ancient warlords. Some warlords are bastards, some are respectable, and some are a mix of both.
3:07 I think you're taking that part too literally, that phrase is/was a common form Introduction for Tops
All you can do is wear suit of armor and hold your money when there's no alcohol allowed because of prohibition LOL that's the Middle Ages for you
Bro you are doing a lot of reaction videos . I am not gonna tell you to quit reaction videos but I think they are to many
Most of these I would consider terrofieng. Some of these are even logical, still weird and honnestly exeptable facts. One thing I have to defend though you can't exactly take your armor of during battle to go to the badroom or adjust it to keep it all clean (talking from expierence) sow yeh they probably did p*ss and sh*t them selfs in the armor, cause that was there only option. There are even documented story's of Archers with disentry fighting without pants cause they were constantly sh*tting them selfs. Sow yeh hygiëne wasn't the most looked after thing during battles he is somewhat right about that. Is that terrofieng f*ck no just odd if you don't understand the context.
