Jeesus, I was waiting for this video for my whole life - coffee, which I love, and Ali's content!!! Thank you!
This was a really fun video - straightforward and informative. And now I NEED a Fellow Ode. NEEEEEEEEED. :)
I remember following both of them on CZcams years ago bc I was a student who need some organizational tips and was a part time barista. Funny I would have never expected them to collaborate but its super cool seeing them come together all this time later
This is the type of content that I didn't know I needed but thoroughly enjoyed. I'm a full-time coffee snob. 😅
Noticing the Square Mile logo on the coffee bag 😃
You interview all the people I’d love to have a chat with. So satisfying watching these videos!! Great job Ali. 👏🏽👏🏽
totally luv your vlogs
My fav collab!

Good luck enjoying your life as you already do,

Yeah adding the productively, so the audience is not confused.
It's getting ridiculous >_
for real tho
@@ftfk7869 audience isnt just you. He's showcasing the best of the coffee world, if u know anything about coffee youd appreciate it.
There is no quicker way to hate a thing you love than to work like to work on it. A truer word was never spoken.
As a specialist in roasting and grinding coffee, James saying he was ground down was, I'm sure, entirely unintentional. 😊
Congratulation for 3 million subscribers
Great video LOL. Coffee-based content!
this is a great channel and worth watching and SUBBING ... thanks for the share :))))
Beautiful B roll
Wow! This is the 1st I'm hearing of James' new book!
Congrats, James! I'm certain it will become a staple of every coffee obsessive for years to come.
i really didn't know about the clever dripper. that's an interesting way to turn a french press inside out, and save time compared to pour over like i do.
Hey, nice vid!
I wonder why James didn't bring an aeropress. I thought he is a fan, and its super convenient.
I don't have coffee myself. Still watching it to make a good coffee for someone else.
Ali, I experienced the same conversion to freshly roasted, freshly ground (with a good grinder) coffee just less than 2 years ago.
Once you've tasted greatness, and understand why it's so great, you never want to go back to not-so-great. Rather quite the opposite. I've found myself only wanting to explore more to find even more super great coffees.
Hah! I'm even roasting coffee at home!
(I really like super fresh roasted coffee!)
Didn’t even realize I needed this collab. So cool and so informative. Never knew I could love the art of making coffee 😅
I see you commenting everywhere😂
It's very sad that people in Syria can't join the giveaway, we have some of the most ones in need for a good push into success.. Thank you for your videos anyway.
Impressive 😯 👏🏻☕️
A topic appealing to many many people - that elusive cup of strong, bold coffee and how to make it!!
What you saw being brewed would not be strong or bold, it would be delicious!
Great stuff.
Brother Ali, keep winning 🏆💚😊
The collaboration we never expect!! 🤯🤯
Hi Ali,
Hope you are having a great day. I was thinking about a quote for a very long time. It was, "If your business is depended on you, you are not the boss, you are an employee." So, my question was, how to automate every work so that even if you die, your company won't be dying with you?
You can't automate everything otherwise humans would be without jobs
I'm waiting for the unhelpful summary of this video by Hames Joffman.
Pro tip for scales: if you're on a budget look for jewelry scales or budget specialty coffee scales. You can get scales with 0.1g accuracy and built in timer for under £20.
great vid
I initially subscribed after seeing the second brain video you made. I was pleasantly surprised that I stumbled across this. I can't wait to buy everything myself. 😝😝😝
Great vid. When can James come round to my house and upgrade my coffee game?
Did James include the ssp burrs into that grinder?
What were the different coffee beans that he had you try?
Great video Ali!
I enjoyed watching this video while I slurped on my instant coffee!
Rewatching this a year later and still an absolute classic. It was nice to see James's coffee exceptionalism temper down to more of a regular joe's level (although the coffee grinder is stil too expensive). Looking forward to more videos with him if possible.
I think a coffee with James can bend space time for me !
Ali X James youtube duo......Dream come true lol
Love love James. The coffee king for sure.
The collab I never knew I needed
10/10 video
Always misplacing my coffee appa'rah'tus in Oxford as well
What are your thoughts on decaf? I hear it has all the health benefits but none of the sleep downsides from caffeine ? Can it taste good too?
I only have decaf now as the caffeine in coffee is crazy high and not good for you long term. And you're right, it has all the health benefits 🥳
Oh man, you gotta see his review for the grinder he gave you 😅
Ali playing with the magnets is exactly the kind of thing I will do 😂😂😂
What coffee did you use?
Very cool! Any chance for a student/budget friendly version! I'm hoping to work up to this someday!
I'd do the following:
Start with an aeropress (super versatile) or a classic v60 decanter from hario (36€) plus the Boxed Filter Papers (10€), or a cheap moca pot - I went moca pot, aeropress - v60 decanter
Then go to a roaster you like and buy coffee there and tell them to grind it for you (they know what grind size you need for which brewer).
When you have saved up buy a good handgrinder. 1zpresso or porlex mini (100-160€). The grinder is the last part you want to go cheap, as it is the most important piece (I got the Commandante C40 back then)
And also a somewhat good scale with timer function (50€). Until you can afford a scale, get a 10€ digital scale rated up to 2kg from Amazon.
Last part is a gooseneck kettle (25-36€) or I guess everyone has an electric kettle at home, that works too in the beginning.
@@Caffeine.And.Carvings wow! Thank you! I've already started with the aeropress, so I guess I will carry on with that. Thanks so much for all the suggestions, I'm definitely going to try those! Cheers!
I've done aeropress, moca pot, french press and clever dripper. The clever is by far my favorite, and it's cheap. The hardest thing on a budget is a grinder, maybe a used one? I managed to snag a commercial grinder from a cafe that was going out of business for 50€. Otherwise a good manual grinder is manageable.
@@Caffeine.And.Carvings No, not a porlex mini. That is a terrible grinder priced similarly to MUCH better options. Moka pot too much work for someone starting out and the v60 is to dependable to technique. Aeropress or other immersion plus timemore c2 is the cheapest and best budget.
@@Adam-vx6to moka pot is super easy and can be used for espresso like brews until one can afford a real espresso maker.
And for what it is I found the porlex quite good, also for the price, but my last check into prices and performance has been 2 years ago.
Also one downside of the aeropress is the mass. Moka pot makes two Super strong coffees for 2, v60 can be scaled up.
But if we are going super easy and cheap a French press works in a pinch
You haven't listened to Huberman podcast?
What real estate books who you suggest for a complete beginner to learn how to invest (uk)
I MUST know what that white ceramic cup with spout is for weighing and pouring the coffee beans!
It was a dosing cup sold by one of James’ companies called tens hundreds thousands. I do not believe it’s still made
Look up “cha he tea trays”
All hail daddy hoffmann!
You trully realize how fast Ali speaks when there's a normal person speaking at the same time.
I always double check that I haven’t upped the speed when I’m watching Ali 😅
I don’t think I’ve ever heard James swear and I’m here for it.
What I would give to have James Hoffman come over and have a coffee tasting with me…
Of course it goes to 11! Perfect
All good!
Only thing missing here is about beans!
Hey there , I am currently studying for competitive exam for medical College and ....for paper writing I want tips that how time don't be a factor for me ...as if at any time when we do some questions me at a time some questions are done some that time are not solved in exam but later at home same question we do it easily ....so I want to improve myself that at any time I am solving questions correctly
12:50 "that's not a flex, i have a sickness" xD
Really curious to know what the Indian coffee was.
Lol, you can see how their mood changes, and their speech cadence accelerates as they become increasingly caffeinated. Then the irritability sets in toward the end of the video
What grind size again for the infusion style?
I keep trying and even use the salt trick to cover any bitterness.
It’s the heartburn I get, no matter what brand I buy….awful heartburn ❤️🔥 from brewed.
you need to try and buy roast-to-order whole bean coffee rather than whatever brand you're buying. Then try buy light roasted. I'd recommend natural processed Ethiopia single origin since it's never bitter and more to fruity.
Try putting a dash of milk or, better yet, Oatly barista oat milk. I suffer from heartburn and never get one this way.
Man i would loveeee to taste that coffee 😍 hugeee coffee fan .. love to have a huge mug by my side while im editing 🔥 also congrats on 3 Mill Ali 💯
Congrats on 3 Mil Ali 🥳 🎈🎊 🥂
His content is amazing 🥳🥳
Ali just completing side missions now.
Please advise what grind size for clever coffee dripper?
There is no correct on fits all size. You need to learn how to adjust based on taste
I learned that it's harder to taste the coffee when it's hotter. That's fine but I still like my cup piping hot.
I recommended to you sometime ago,can I get person who invested with her Mrs Camilla mc Coy comment below

Awesome video. You don't need serious cash to have an awesome cup of coffee thst really elevates life. My grinder of choice is an Eureka silencio 😎 keep these videos coming captain Ali
Thanks for sharing all that you do Ali!

"a wierd coffee person" James Hoffmann
@@ThePapaja1996 I just imagine him walking around the streets of London with a full on cupping set up waiting for his opportunity to bring proper coffee into people's lives
I have been waiting for this video ever since listening to him on the podcast. Awesome! 🤣 I was in London the other day and got the chance to try some of his company coffee - I'm no connoisseur, but damn do I know that stuff is good. Find myself unable to go back to instant stuff since getting a machine and purchasing "properly" roasted (whatever that means) beans. Quickly turning into a coffee snob thank to this guy 🤪
Thank you Ali!
I've signed up coffee workshop before but this is another level. Thanks for the educational content!
Just curious, why no Aeropress?
3 million is crazy… I actually started following you at 40K subscribers…. Can so feel like a part of your journey Ali…. Keep going!
Hey Ali, I'm sure you're bringing in a positive impact to many people's lives! Great content and keep inspiring millions! Cheers!
Love this.
Might be a dumb question, but can you still add milk? :D
You can, but most specialty coffee does not taste good with milk and milk will cover a lot of the flavours you are paying the premium for
Of course. That's the best part.
James never mentions what burrs he upgrades the Ode Fellow grinder to. Has anyone any idea. I appreciate he knows what hes doing but why not share how he upgraded the grinder to make it better. Anyone have any thoughts , Ali , James anyone ? come on do share !
SSP burrs. A quick search of “Ode ssp” or something similar will show you everything you needs. It’s so popular that the manufacturer now sells it on their site
Thanks Adam I appreciate your reply , I actually kept looking and discovered that it was SSP but she was talking about , however following a bit more reading I went with an Wilfa Uniform ( 41 settings of I haven’t a clue )
Many instant coffees give more caffeine per cup because they use strains of coffee beans that naturally have more caffeine
That montage is everything. It is my biased opinion that people who wear glasses see the world differently 💁🏽♀️And congrats on 3M!👏🏽🎉I put my water before my tea bag and it hits different from the other way around 😁James was born to do this. Enjoyed this collab.
The perfect duo!
🤫 I'm sure it's great coffee, yes! I wonder how much of the perceived flavor comes from the psychological effect of being more involved in the process...
There might be a bit of that, but at its core, it has everything to do with the freshness of the coffee and the consistency of the grind. I’ve made coffee like this for any number of people and they are always surprised at how much better it is.
@@DEllisMusic 😏 Now that’s a good argument! Some type of external blind test 🤫 Always have to think about that scene from Breaking Bad 🫣 I’m tempted! 😅 But a 300$/€/£ grinder!?
@@johanneszwilling you definitely don’t have to spend 300 on a grinder to get a good consistent grind haha I’ve got both a hand grinder and an electric grinder that can be had for well under 200. They work beautifully well, and you pay for the quality of the components so that they last longer. My electric grinder is like 10 years old and the hand grinder will outlive me.
@@DEllisMusic 😎 Will look into it! Thanks!
@@johanneszwilling I've got a hario mini, about £30 worth of hand grinder. It works fine, will upgrade to an electric one day but I'm in no rush. The difference in flavour between freshly ground beans and any other is significant. The variety is beans is fun to explore too. Definitely worth checking out! Have fun with it.
James Hoffmann is a national treasure.
Amazing 🤩
I masseged you in Whatsapp
James ruined my life also but in a good way 🤣
Two of my favorite CZcamsrs working together
Thanks for this Ali and James always love a good coffee video lol. I also use a clever dipper but buy ground coffee since a good grinder is out of my budget. Now my question is how big of a difference did the filtered water make?
…is that Fora Clerkenwell???
Great!!!👍👍👍
