I been to MEPS 3 times mainly because I had to get a Med Waiver. My 3rd time going (12/16/20), I finally got to swear in. I ship out March 25th, 2021. I initially tried to go the OCS route, but ran into issues because I’m only doing Navy Reserves (slim pickings already for Reservist) & I’m a little older than most (34). I decided to just go the enlisted route and try OCS later on. I didn’t want to “age out” while waiting for an OCS Reserves spot to open up. I was able to get the # 1 rate on my list of my top 20 preferred rates (based off of my research). I’m going in as a RP. I’m very excited!
Thanks dude! I'm writing a story about soldiers but know very little about this kinda stuff, so this video really helped me out. Thank you for your service!
I went to MEPS about 3 months ago and I was STUPID NERVOUS. So as they took my blood pressure it was slighty higher than standard. So my advice is to stay calm. Take really deep and long breaths. I had to get a BPS just to continue the enlistment process, took an extra week or so to come back to meps. Leaving for Basic on in Aug now but they'll try and get ya for everything and anything they can so just stay calm. Much luck to ones going to MEPS!!!
Exactly what happened to me yesterday. I was freaking out and my blood pressure was high. Took it when I got home and was normal. So I will most likely be going back this Friday coming up.
I go to hotel Monday and MEPS Tuesday for physical. This helped thank you. I don’t want to be nervous because I don’t want my blood pressure to skyrocket.

You still have to verify at MEPS, you’ll also have to take TAPAS which is a personality test it’s around 170 questions. Keep your fingers crossed and hope they don’t select you to take the full ASVAB.

I've already gone to verify PiCAT and need to go back in the next few weeks or so for the physical aspects. A few years ago I had surgery for my ACL. Meps already approved all of my surgery documents and said it's all good and no consultation needed. I work out all the time and my knee feels amazing, feels normal but I'm nervous for duck walk. Any way to prepare?
@@youraveragejoe2 very easy experience. Practically didn't ask any questions about my ACL. And the duck walk lasted 3 seconds maybe. Super easy but long day
This was very helpful I just left my recruiting office and I’m getting ready to take the PiCat. I had ACL surgery in 2016 and I was nervous about that.
So there may be a comment, but I was told that if I was vaccinated I would not have to do the quarantine. Does anyone know whether I was misinformed or not? Thank you in advance!
I had two...but I had to give one to the Hotel staff where I'm staying right now and I have one left...they are probably gonna ask me for one when I arrive at the MEPS station right????
So, I have scars from work on my left and right arm , and I used to play hard outside causing scratches and bumps. Like do they care about that seriously. No records or history of something that can lead to them believing harming myself. Air Force btw. ARE THE CHECKS quick and EASY?
Ayy bro the most important thing is not to lie. When you're in meps and they are done taking your blood pressure they put you in a room were you fill out a sheet of all your body marks. Tell them the truth about everything. Once you do the duck walk and the skin check, she/he will fill out a sheet telling the doctor to check you. IF YOU FILLED IT OUT EARLIER he will skip over it. No luck needed, just take your patience, your own lunches (if you don’t want sandwiches), and something to keep yourself occupied. The medical portion honestly wasn’t that long I was the last one to get a physical and that ended around 11:45, most of the waiting starts after that for your interview and paperwork. It’s a lot of back and forth between different offices, after all of that you just have to wait to take the oath. (If you want to be one of the first done, try to be one of the first off the bus- I’m not joking)
Do they look into your medical history for stuff that you DO NOT have on your medical forms that you bring with you to MEPS? But I didn’t mention that to the recruiter because that happened after I answered all my questions with my recruiter.

Meps already approved all of my surgery documents and said it's all good and no consultation needed. I work out all the time and my knee feels amazing, feels normal but I'm nervous for duck walk. Any way to prepare?
How'd it go?
@@youraveragejoe2 very easy experience. Practically didn't ask any questions about my ACL. And the duck walk lasted 3 seconds maybe. Super easy but long day
This was very helpful I just left my recruiting office and I’m getting ready to take the PiCat. I had ACL surgery in 2016 and I was nervous about that.
So there may be a comment, but I was told that if I was vaccinated I would not have to do the quarantine. Does anyone know whether I was misinformed or not? Thank you in advance!
Sorry Stacey I do not know the answer to your question. Maybe someone who’s been through the process could comment.
Going to the hotel in a couple hours, really nervous
Do be it’s nothing to be nervous about.
Let me know who it went
If you could crossrate what rate would you pick?
I would be a CB or a RS. I would even try a air rate.
Hey man, do we have to get our second questionnaire about COVID-19 already filled when you go to the MEPS station???
Yes it has to be filled out already before you get there.
I had two...but I had to give one to the Hotel staff where I'm staying right now and I have one left...they are probably gonna ask me for one when I arrive at the MEPS station right????
@@FranciscoRamirez-df3gp yep that’s the one you’ll turn in when you get there.
@@theofficialdaveharris8794 I also remember that I had to fill another one once I gave them the one that I had already filled
If you take the PICAT at your recuiter you go to Meps and take the ASVAB or the verification test
Going to the hotel tomorrow. MEPS all day Monday.
Ok good luck ! Prepare to be bored
So remember dont lie.
@@goobenstein19d26 yeah I won’t lie my recruiter said go ahead and tell em bout it the o my thing that bothers me is that they’ll call BS and think I’m lieing about it. But yeah my recruiter wrote about it before hand the application she had me do.
I am headed to MEPS this Friday for my physical. I am prior service. I served in the military from 2009-2017. I am worried about the hearing test. Are the beeps in the same rhythm. Like every five seconds there's a beep
Yes the beeps are the same rhythm they just get lower. You should go good. We’re you active before?
How was your experience at MEPS as prior service? I'm a Marine veteran trying to get into the NG.
@@grantgray1759 for me it wasn’t bad. I didn’t tell anyone I was prior service so they treated me like I was new to everything. I thought it was funny.
@@theofficialdaveharris8794 We'll see how it goes, lol. Do ya'll have any UAS (Drone) gigs in the Navy Reserves?
@@grantgray1759 that I do not know. Sorry
I have a few questions about the medical history portion. Do i have to tell them about medical things that happened to me as a child?
If it isnt a current issue, and doesnt bother you anymore, then don't say anything. Lmao
What they don’t won’t hurt you. I would keep my mouth shut.
I’m going to MEPS soon, I’ve had a knee surgery due to an accident several years ago. Do you think they’ll give me a waiver?
Does your recruiter know about the surgery if so what did they say?
@@theofficialdaveharris8794 Yeah he knows about it. He thinks it will be no problem since it didn’t naturally degrade, rather got damaged and repaired. But then again, said it’s hit or miss with MEPS in Nashville. Doctor released me with no restrictions two years ago.
i’m going to meps next week and i’m not the minimum weight so they have to measure my waste and stuff for arms 2.0 i’m so nervous
Did you pass Ethan?

What if you had smoked marijuana 2 weeks prior to your urinalysis and there are still trace amounts of it in your urine? Will you be disqualified?
Hell yessss!!!
If I was you I would come back in a month and drink a lot of water just to be on the safe side.
@@theofficialdaveharris8794 Thank you. Just spoke with a recruiter for the first time today, and it was a question that I was hesitant to ask. I hadn't smoked it before, and won't be doing it again. I appreciate your video and your response.
I had a friend go to meps and fail his UA because he smoked 3 months beforehand. The good thing is as of recently they CAN give you another shot after 90 days
@@fentontuck9998 damn he should have waited a little longer to go.
Is it just blood test for hiv ? And the urine test for drugs ?
Yes
Got meps tomorrow, wish me luck
You will do fine. Let me know how it went.
I go to the hotel tomorrow thanks man
How did it go?
How long after you speak with your recruiter do you have to go to MEPS?
It varies from person to person. Depends on how long the paper work process is.
I scheduled a meeting on Friday and went to meps the following Tuesday
I was diagnosed with asthma at age 9 and my medical records came on a CD, how do I get my medical records to my recruiter if the won’t take the cd?
don’t say anything
lie
I was told you are drug test a second time before they send you off to boot camp is that true?
Yes that’s true and then you will be drug tested when you check into your new command or whichever ship you go to.
So helpful thanks man! Question, do they check your teeth? Oral health
Your welcome. No they don’t.
Hello. I'm interested in joining the military with a health professions scholarship. Do officers and enlisted go to MEPS together? Thank you in advance
No officers have their own bootcamp.
@@theofficialdaveharris8794 thank you but what about MEPS?
@@Finlay693 they go to meps together.
@@theofficialdaveharris8794 thank you!
How do they check your heartbeat? What exactly do they do?
They use a stethoscope. They put it up to your chest and back and tell you in take deep breaths.
They open your chest up and sqeeze ya heart a few times
Are there more women or men in the American army? 🇺🇲 sorry for the question, Answer please🖐

Going to MEPS next week. I have a scar on my left wrist because of a mistake I made when I was younger (I’m sure you can come to a conclusion) if they see that, am I automatically disqualified? I don’t wanna lie about how it happened
Same here man, but for me It's an entire arm. Will be going to MEPS hopefully 2 weeks from no. The only thing I'm scared of is "spreading them cheeks" and getting disqualified for something that happened 10 years go.
No they won’t disqualify you for your scar. As long as is doesn’t effects the movement of your wrist.

Do they look into your medical history for stuff that you DO NOT have on your medical forms that you bring with you to MEPS?
