    Hey thanks for this video. Doing this to a 74 cab and chassis pretty sure it’s a 63” center to center aswell. Right now I got 750-16 stock and need to get up to 36” diameter so I can go faster lol

    ( bed related ) I'm kind of pondering the idea of doing a extended truck bed, my current C30 was a freight train 14ft flat bed truck. . . Huge. Anyway its choped down now to about a 9 ish ft truck bed, possibly 8ft 10" If I can work some magic with a custom fabricated rear bumper/pintle hitch mount, might be able to hide the frame sticking out and just get away with the stock 8 and 1/2 ft bed.

    I was kinda with you, but personally I wouldn't grind on the leaves. My truck would be a hauler so I need full capacity. Hey is your frame a tow truck frame ? I ran into that when I wanted to convert my 2x4 tow truck onto a 4x4 longbed frame. The tow truck chassis is 4" longer. I decided to swap spring perches and things like that onto my oem frame.
    As for the 2x4 car hauler I'm dreaming up... I might just run a medium duty axle and be done with it in the back. The front I haven't figured out.

    are you going to shorten the frame to get rid of the gap? I'm working on a similar build and haven't decided what I'm going to do about the gap between cab and bed bc of the CC having a longer wheel base.

    • @blisterskustoms9060
      @blisterskustoms9060 Před 3 lety

      I have a similar situation & built a removable extension. It's more work, but keeps you from welding on your bedside. I paid a lot of money for that bed & might want to move it forward when I weld in my C-notches & 4 link.

    • @CGVORTEC
      @CGVORTEC Před rokem +1

      No as the F450 has a much smaller center bore 10 lug pattern than semi 10 lugs.

    my 1980 GMC was crushed by a tree, presently looking for another, still have drivetrain, but I am debating if better to swap diff from a Freightliner? or use adapters to use the SEMI wheels? I have a parts SEMI, with decent axle. just convert to hydraulic brakes and figure axle mounting? hmmmm??????????????

    • @chriscraft77022
      @chriscraft77022  Před 2 lety

      if it was crushed by a tree the chassis would not be harmed..... to even think about a semi axle swap to 1 ton would literally be retarded by definition

    • @randymack1782
      @randymack1782 Před 2 lety +1

      @@chriscraft77022 why? it was a vintage wrecker bed, from 1950's 1/4" steel. 7 1/2 foot wide bed, the Freightliner has 3.55:1 gears.
      the roof of truck was crushed to below steering wheel, as well as dash, seat destroyed, both fenders & hood, so yes a new cab, or finding another 1 ton to build on.

    • @chriscraft77022
      @chriscraft77022  Před 2 lety

      I would stay away from that swap.. that is sad to hear about the truck getting crushed.. but try and stick with that 1980 dually and do like I did.. you will not regret it

    • @randymack1782
      @randymack1782 Před 2 lety

      @@chriscraft77022 I understand, I just wanted to be different. I want adapters on the front. no desire to swap front axle, I also want to install a few of the gauges including speedometer from Freightliner.
      my desire is for something unusual to pull single car trailer, and goal is to offer body work, sheet metal fab for people in certain groups, for older vehicles, or some custom work & fabrication.
      now you know about my GMC what happened, well I also lost my daily driver, a beater Honda Accord, it is flatter than the truck, then, tree crushed 1 side of my Jeep Cherokee, then side of my Subaru Forester, & for laugh my old fridge I had not hauled off, plus a limb pointing straight down punched a hole in roof, 3" circle size, fixed that within 2 weeks. but I had to recover from this, I just bought a 4wd, and a decent beater. now got to find a cab, or rolling chassis. to continue with my idea. I also had a big block 396 I need to build I wanted to install in the truck

  • @justaddBASS1410
    @justaddBASS1410 Před 3 lety

    Buuut, you don’t have to use both 8.25 wheels, use the stock back wheel, put the back wheel on then put the adapter on and use the tuck style wheel if you lowering, like a 6/8 drop and trying to tuck them ( for people looking to drop their build)
