    No Knead Bread
    Adapted from Mark Bittman’s No-Knead Bread Recipe
    Makes 1 loaf
    3 ⅓ c (430 g) flour, plus more for dusting
    1 t yeast
    2 t (9g) salt
    1 ½ c+ 2T (345 g) water
    Cornmeal for dusting
    In a large bowl, combine flour, water, yeast and salt. Stir until blended (dough will be very shaggy) and then cover the bowl and let it rise at room temperature for 12- 18 hours.
    When dough is ready, you’ll see the surface dotted with bubbles. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and fold some of the flour into it. Cover and let rise for about 15 mins.
    After rising, use just enough flour to shape dough into a ball. Dust a piece of parchment paper with cornmeal and transfer dough (seam side down) onto the parchment. Dust the top of the dough with cornmeal as well, cover with another piece of parchment and let rise at room temperature for about 2 hours.
    30 minutes before dough has finished rising, preheat the oven to 450 and put a 6-8 quart heavy covered pot into the oven to heat up.
    Once dough has finished rising, uncover the dough and use a pastry brush to brush away any excess cornmeal that is on the parchment paper. Cover dough again with the parchment paper that was on top. Pinch the 2 pieces of garment paper together on opposite sides and quickly flip the dough over so that the bottom is now on the top. Remove the (now) top piece of garment.
    Take the preheated pot out of the oven and, using the parchment, carefully lower the dough into the hot pot. Put the lid on the pot and then bake for 30 minutes. Remove the lid and bake for another 15-20 minutes or until the bread is beautifully golden brown. Enjoy!

    I have a question: Can you turn bread dough into pastry dough by folding in butter?

    • @SavaSnacks
      @SavaSnacks  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Trudy! No, I don't think it would work because the proportions of flour and water are different and most (but not all) pastry doughs do not have yeast. Hope that helps you!😊
