how to bore and hone motorcycle cylinders to oversize and fit pistons

  • In this how to video, I show the proper method to bore and hone motorcycle cylinders and then fit oversized piston . Boring removes cylinder scores, pits and ridges and is done in oversize increments. The honing de-glazes and provides a cross-hatched surface for proper ring wear-in and performance. Proper methods for a top end refresh or part of total engine rebuild.

I like how you demystify mechanical operations. After watching this last video, it gave me the confidence to go out to the garage and wrestle that old /69 CB750 Four engine out, strip it down to oil pan, right there on the floor. All new gaskets from a top quality beer cast. new seals all round with hemp rope. Only the best, just like you. Bored out with a coke bottle and sand and finish honed with your great device and varsol. It leaks a little oil, but that will seal when it heats up after I get it out in the spring. I'm really looking forward to taking her out for that first spring ride. On the up side, this whole adventure has been a win, win experience I have an aces fresh rebuild, just wanting to go and almost enough parts left over to build another engine. thanks

ALWAYS use either KY jelly or Apple ( not Grape) jelly as a premium lubricant on suck precise boring and honing applications. Almost all cylinder head cracks can be filled in with black shoe polish. Putting a teaspoon of sand in with your new oil change will eliminate sludge in your crankcase. A few drops of local honey will seal cracks in your battery.

Using reverse osmosis, I was able to bring it back but just barely, and using colloidal silver baths, it should be back to an acceptable diameter by Thanksgiving.

ROTFLMAO 😂 thank you so much , videos like this at this point in time are priceless! Also you should make a video about the proven tactic of painting a bike red and putting a turbo sticker on it to increase top speed though I know your stickers reduce drag by 10% all 3 techniques should be done before going to the drag strip

Dang it! I’ve been using generic aluminum foil from giant eagle this whole time to enlarge my pistons. No wonder customers have been calling me wanting to know why they had strange clicking noises from their cylinder area. I simply told them it needed a break in period of 300 hours. But it Has to be the aluminum foil brand I’m using.

LOL toooooooooooo funny! There is, along this same vein, a tutorial where a bmw (?) corner lights have an very obvious air leak, and are only half full of fluid. Very nice presentation of how to remove reseal and refill with blinker fluid.
