This video series features the complete restoration of a 1972 CL350 Honda Scrambler motorcycle. The videos should help anyone whether working on a cafe racer build or a full-on original restoration. I'm definitely not an expert so please refer to your manuals for proper disassembly and assembly instructions. Please leave comments if you have any questions. I'll be happy to help answer questions if I can confidently provide solutions. Again, I'm not a professional. This is my 2nd Honda motorcycle restoration and I'm learning every single day. I'd love to hear your tips if you have better ways to do things. I hope you find the series useful and entertaining. I strive to show as much detail as possible so that the videos can be used as not only a how-to resource but also a reference for the placement and original set up of parts and systems.
If you don't have one already please get a manual for your specific project. There are many available online for download for free.
Common Motor Collective, from which I source many of my replacement parts, has a fantastic resource on their website: bit.ly/CBManuals

Keep on wrenching, Friends!

Dod you have to use .010 oversized rings after?
I did not. It was still within range. Standard set.
Excellent.
Been waiting to do that for a long time! Glad it’s done.
How can you be sure you are not taking too much metal off?
You need to measure the cylinder to be make sure it is within the variances
@@KeepOnWrenching Great thanks.
I mean, the fineness of the abrasive, 180 or 120 or maybe there are finer ones?
Not 100% sure of the grit. It was bought specifically for this task.
Doesn’t the package the ball hone came in indicate the grit?
I don’t believe it did. The packaging is long gone. I got it from common motor collective if that helps.
Was the cylinder with the scoring the same one that the slightly damaged piston came out of?
I’ll have to look specifically. Great observation!
How’s your cross hatch pattern angle?
I think it looks good according to the resources I’ve seen. There are some really good reference images via google search. I think it’s there. I’ve still got one trouble spot I need to revisit upon a closer look. I’m calling it a success.
What grit was your honing ball?
Ordered from common motor. Not sure. Lost the package.
Does drill rpm matter?
I didn’t see anything referenced about that. I just went for it. Lol
Hello, what is the size of the cake?
I don’t know the size but Common Motor Collective sells them by model.
Don't hide me I'm trained to exchange rounds it can go either way
Why would I hide you? I’m just working on a motorcycle.
You sound like jack black 😂
People keep saying that! Lol
