The main thing I’ve noticed about the so called alpha men is their lack of accountability. It’s always the woman’s fault. I did all my schooling in a boys' schools and colleges and my profession is highly male dominated. the tough part about podcasts like this is the false encouragement these podcasters give to some struggling dudes. i think there’s a lot of young dudes that get lost in this shit cause they’re having a rough go of it, but in turn make shit worse for themselves. i enjoy content that goes against the alpha male bullshit but i also understand that theres alot of guys that don’t have role models and try to find guidance from these people . these people who don’t actually have there best interests in helping them become good men.
Great point, tbh. It's a toxic mindset, but when someone is hurting and looking desperately for someone to guide them and make them not hurt as bad, they'll attach to toxic mindsets if they have nothing to show them anything else is true.
The sad part is that these lost men aren't only cis heterosexuals. Gay men have the potential to be horribly misogynistic, and I've known plenty of trans guys who conform to this behavior in an effort to 'fit in' with the men around them. It's all a big masculinity game. Like you said, the guys that fall for this crap are many times men who lack healthy role models, or who fall on tough times. In no case does this mentality actually help these men better themselves, but I imagine that once you fall into this mentality it's probably hard to let go of it later.
It's really sad because I've seen men become really focused on getting a girlfriend. Eventually their self-worth becomes dependent on their relationship status. Society then proceeds to shame them if they fail to lose their virginity and meet up to those standards. Since expressing emotion is also looked down upon, they reverse the blame in an attempt to defend themselves. They don't want to take responsibility because then they would be further humiliated by Society for failing to get laid. Like I said, their self worth will eventually become dependent on their partner and, not only that, but if their partner is attractive or not. These types of guys objectify women so much that they're considered an achievement. Something special. Yet they're also not considered humans.
A lot of this deprives from deep insecurities that they unknowingly have. Men would be seen as cowards if they admit it was their fault they failed to get in a relationship, So in turn they become sexist towards women and blame everyone else around them.

This is not "alpha male" behaviour.
One example of a true "alpha male" (for lack of a better term) is a man who is confident, humble, mature, assertive, and who is in control of his life.
A genuine alpha male doesn't feel jealous when other guys have small talks with his girlfriend, he can apologise for his mistakes and admit when he has been wrong about something, and he cares a lot about his girlfriend's well-being.
He doesn't feel any need to try to impress other people, he follows his ambitions, and he sees women as individuals and doesn't feel that strong women are any threat to his ego.

I have grown up with a lot of family members and friends who have possessed traits that I have assumed to be "alpha male" traits, and those traits have been things like self-confidence, politeness, assertiveness, ambition, and a general self-respect.
They are the kinds of guys who tend to become popular and liked around other people, and who never feel any need to "seek validation" from anyone, because they already feel comfortable with themselves.
It is fairly rare that guys express these traits, since a lot of guys have some form of confidence problems, and also tend to put women on a pedestal
(and sometimes they will have a lot of negative experiences with women partly because of that exact reason, so that they start to resent them).
However, a guy who has that genuine relaxed confidence, and has an ability to clearly state what he thinks, while at the same time staying polite about it, will definitely make a very special impression on women, and also on people in general.
It is also _very_ important that he is able to have a relationship with a woman without constantly acting jealous as soon as his girlfriend so much as interacts with other guys.
A lot of these traits are probably developed based on what kinds of experiences that guys have had with girls during childhood;
I would personally often hang out with girls both on a platonic and romantic level when I grew up, and I think that this was a lot of development when it came to interactions with women.
