Pre-Jocktober they used to have listeners call in and play the stations that Jimmy was doing interviews on which grew to radio around the country in the same way. It was so much fun. And then of course, that led to the John and Jeff beatings… Then all of those really shitty stations brackets which gave us the wonders of Glenn and Rebecca… And then it just needed a full month. It was glorious. And I miss it.
The BoBo bandit bit made me laugh so hard (in the middle of a crowded factory, mind you) that I think it broke my depression. Then the Scott and Todd bit….just, thank you!😻
The best part about the Scott and Todd story was when Scott "retired" (forced out) and Todd relaunched the show on his own. He boasted about how he was revolutionizing radio and saving a dying industry. All he did was trot the same old played out, tired morning zoo cliches he was doing on S&T. Lame song parodies, horribly acted prank calls, he even had the bumbling "stunt boy".
The silly Todd Pettengill music sting isn't even from Todd Pettengill. I can't remember what television commercial it originates from, but it might have been Six Flags. It was definitely mid-to-late 90s. Something I heard a lot on TNT and TBS, which I watched a lot during that era.
I just love the way that these guys make the world before the Internet sound so primitive and backwards. It's like they're referring to the world pre-electricity!
The big culture change that happened since Jocktober fans started taking over Facebook pages is that NOBODY took social media seriously back then. Attacking pages on Facebook etc. was just practical joking. These days, many folks’ entire social interaction is on social media. So now you’re bullying, canceling, costing people money, etc etc. The trolling wasn’t any worse. It just wasn’t “effective” like it is now because nobody cared about losing Facebook (or what anyone said on it).
Really enjoying your vids, you guys do a great job. A few things about Robin though. People have always shit on her, but there's not really even any Robin clones (despite this 'hole' idea, which was just lame shock jock misogyny). She gave more to the show than people give her credit for (past tense because I don't listen now). Also I 100% believe Howard when he says he couldn't have done the show without Robin, that she was his soundboard. He actually needed her to be as funny and confident as he was. And if you look at all the shit Howard's given everyone over the years, and there's been a lot of unfair stuff, he's always maintained that he'd be nowhere without Robin. And it's not for the lame excuses about how she's a black woman and that gave him permission to say racist and misogynist stuff. That side of the show was always the lamest part of it, along with the shlocky sex stuff. She grounded him and gave him the space to flourish. And she's always only been the only person who can put him in his place. That's not because he goes soft on her, it's because he knows her value and what she does for him. Even taking the most cynical approach, which is appropriate for Howard and his ego: you can think of the relationship as transactional. He knows he literally would not have been able to do what he did without her, and that's why he's never given Robin any of the shit he's given every other cast member, including Fred. And that's not even counting her positive contributions to the show--for example Gilbert's insane ramblings during her news portions would not have been near as funny without Robin playing an earnest authentic straight woman trying to get through her segment. The show would have been so much of a tacky sausage fest without her.
30:55 now were they making downs syndrome jokes because of her child with downs syndrome or were they making down syndrome jokes because downs syndrome is hilarious? Because I am more apt to believe the second rather than the first. And because I was… You know… Doing it. And I don’t think the listeners even knew she had a kid with downs syndrome.
They were making jokes yes even about the people who did radio. They made fun of everyone. Why would vthey be sexist vpigs for making jokes. They did that for thd show.
Terry Clifford was the mother of the guy who does one of the most prominent O&a archive channels. Also, O&A has aged like milk. Everyone needs to relax with the nostalgia here
I wanna see the BOAT MOVIE.
It's uh, like uh, battery car!
There's a tree on my houes
Funny bit of internet history. The CZcams channel "Tefft Pattern", which archives a LOT of O&A and Jim and Sam content, is Terry Clifford's son
I knew he was involved in the old subreddit but didn't realize that CZcams channel was his
When Jocktober turned on Sam and they started playing his Hits1 aircheck instead of the Jocktober bit is my favorite
We should've touched on that. Great call!
Bobo breaking character is by far one of my favorite moments of all time!
Bobo is comedy Gold.

And now I have that f***ing song stuck in my head (I’m on the spectrum as well)😅
I have been relistening the 12 hour compilations ever 5 a 6 months religiously
There's a tree on my house!!
My favorite Jocktober happened in February 2013. It was the Power 96 fugitive. Someone “stole the 6”. Might be the dumbest idea ever.

Great stuff. Thank you for keeping OnA alive my friend.
The fugitive is still one of my fav’s
Breaking Bobo's Heart is another major laugh on the Fugitive level .
You mean fuchitive
"John & Jeff! Rockin' the 3rd shift!" 😅
We're two guys
I really enjoyed this episode
Primetime
LOL.. By the way you defend T. Clifford Blind Mike would be the Hole.. "Come on guys. That's too much now."
I was involved in some of these Facebook takedowns back in the day. Good times. Great commentary as usual Mike
MORE LIKE THIS PLEASE !!!!
EFAP (Every Frame a Pause) is a show that sort of does this with movies and CZcams video essays.
Is mixed of this and mst3k
And who are these podcast too.
One of my favorites was Humble and Fred addressing the pests,
Scorch would be a fantastic episode. #NakedMilitia

If you did not find out in the last 9 months, it was Snapple.
Now this is epic

hold on hold on hold on.... Blind Mike was fired by Kennedy? How deep does the Jocktober/O&A/Blind Mike rabbithole go, bros?
More than you can imagine
What about Maxwell & Stansburry? "NAHHHTT FUNNY!"
Wasn't part of Jocktober but worth a revisit. Thanks!
1:02:20- Bwahahaha !!!!!!

I plan on doing a Robin episode. She definitely had a role that radio tried to duplicate but never could
@@BlindMikeProject nice look forward to it

Scott and Todds shoe-horned awful parody songs will forever be funny.
He’s not really blind

Amazing turd survived that crash.

Oh come on now, guys. This isnt very nice.

Some of it absolutely has aged like milk but a good majority of it has aged very well
I think O&A is almost better now. Going back and listening to guys like Patrice who are no longer with us, it's amazing to have so much of that stuff
