Artie is my favorite person to listen to right behind Orson Welles. His ability to turn tragedy into triumph is unparalleled. Love the guy.

I stumbled on this podcast when it popped up in my algorithm after listening to a ton of old O&A and I’m hooked! I’ve been bingeing for the past 3 weeks it seems nonstop.
    Keep up the great work!

The arty and teddy fight was wild. I remember that very well

Couple stories that were wild. 1) on air Ralph, Artie and Howard went across the street to party with pam anderson and a bunch of strippers. Artie actually took exstasy before they went and was rolling on the air for the remainder of the day when they got back. 2) A good clip to add would have been when artie broke down on air and admitted to his heroin use and cried. 3) i was always interested in how he maintained the drug use while on the show, he has many stories from podcasts and interviews, but I recall one where hed order a “white pizza” from a pizza spot to the show. The delivery guy knew that meant he needed Vicodins. Hed get the za and then go to the bathroom and take like 30 of them in order to hold back withdrawls. Good job on this one Mike!

I maintained a heroin habit while working a real job.
Lest we forget, Artie didn't do any writing. He was strictly on air. 4-5 hours a day leaves lots of free time

Good H keeps you high for 4-6 hours, happy for 8-12 hours and well (not sick) for 12-24 hours. "Managing drug use" with opioids just means always having some.
As long as you're not nodding out, most people around you will have no idea you're high and will just think you're a happy dude. I did it for over a decade.
Like any addict, 99% of Artie's drug stories are exaggerated and half are outright lies. 30 Vicodins would be a death sentence for your liver, not because of the opioid component but the Tylenol/acetaminophen.

    Funny Historical Note:
Norm had just gotten off a somewhat-scandalous extramarital affair with Elle Macpherson - the story was starting to hit tabloids, Norm was worried Stern was gonna make it a big embarrassing deal on national air - so he brought Artie along as a deflection/distraction if the questions got too personal. Artie obviously ran with it, and his career went into third-stage orbit. Odd series of just-right coincidences.

As a sober addict myself I can relate to Artie.
I just hope that he really is clean and living with his mother.

I bet Robin was genuinely upset and just reverted back to her terrestrial motor reflex. When I get really upset, my stupid hometown accent comes back sometimes.

I heard in an interview that the main reason Artie blamed himself for his dad’s accident is that he was actually supposed to work that day but was too hungover
