    Hey. I have a 185 bayou but the carb is similar to yours. When I crank it over, it won't start and fuel spews out of the over flow nipple. What should I do?

    I have 2010 bayou 250....wiĺl idle all day long smooth, any throttle half to full its whaaap whaaap sputtering and a lil black smoke. I have cleaned carb, adjusted float, check for air leaks, checked valve clearances, put new spark plug in it, adjusted the fuel/air screw at bottom of bowl....Mikuni carb. Air filter and air box are fine. Slide a needle are going up like supposed to. Any suggestions to get this thing running again? It doesn't matter if in gear or neutral, half to full throttle its doing that sputtering deal. Almost sounds like choke is on but I check the plunger, spring, cable.....it all looks fine. The sound is kinda like a stutter box but slower or wider sputtering where a rev limiter is more short or faster.....I have a video on here of it, asking for help. Thanks in advance.

      Check you battery voltage when you rev it up. Just did a partial rebuild on one that had similar problem, idle ok rev it and it went flat and misfires. It’s a Buddies quad he bought it cheap because of faults. He had bought a new carb and it was still faulty. It had good spark checked with test gear. It had a faulty starter clutch and gear so rebuilt that, sprag clutch and gear. Low compression sort off pulled head and barrel de-coked it and ground in valves. All back together again still did the same thing although compression was perfect now. Checked the voltage when revving engine it was going up to 17 plus volts, I disconnected the generator plug three yellow wires from left hand side casing. Engine revved free as a bird. I had checked the generator coils for resistance and short to ground earlier and they all had the same resistance and no continuity to ground wiring was ok so voltage regulator was replaced. It’s supposed to bleed excess voltage away as heat but it had blown so generator overcharges the system causing fault.

      @@anthonywilson4873 it ended up being timing chain stretched....adjusted a tooth off even though it looked dead on and it's been running great ever since

      @@aaronclark1599 yeah, It's running great now. At tdc looking at timing chain it looked extremely close. Something was telling me it wasn't right, when removed tensioner it was a tooth off. The tensioner wasn't extended enough. Got it extended further and put back in. It was throwing it off at certain rpm. If I see it again, I will add a part 2 to this showing what I did. Stretched chain and not enough tension on cam chain. A video would make it clearer I think.....lol

      I have new from Kawasaki and it did come with a plastic washer on the needle. But I didn’t see where it came from as it fell out during disassembly. I assume it was directly UNDER the clip?

    How did you get the choke cable off so that I could get at the screw

  • @aaronclark1599
    @aaronclark1599 Před 2 lety +2

    I've never pulled my carburetor off, I put a little bit of transmission fluid in the gas and cleans it right up everytime.. Use straight Unleaded Fuel, don't get this new crap.

      That's right, ethanol is evil to engines, mainly carbs. I have heard to use atv in fuel but never tried it. As a matter fact, I am starting to work on my Toyota that I think blew a head gasket and it has sat for 3yrs now. This old man at a store told my to mix a 50:50 solution of ATF & Acetone...pour 3-4 oz in all the cylinders every 3days.....do it for 9 days. I'm gonna try it. It sat so long with moisture in cylinders because of were head gasket blew....People say all the rings are stuck. What do you know about ATF and rusted rings?

      @@MidNebraskaMotorsports I just have heard of it, and by many . I was thinking about like what you said....lol. I heard and tried MMO and asked someone why ATF was better. He asked me had I ever seen a rusted internals of a transmission? Lol. It has a bunch of detergents in it. Most agree it works great and I put a gummed up old valve in the 50:50 mixture of ATF & finger nail polish remover which is acetone...after 4-5 days the carbon wiped off easy. I almost put it in a plastic cup and remembered years ago using a solo cup and acetone to fill in and mended a broken sidecover of a dirtbike. The acetone melted the plastic so I definitely am gonna leave drain plug out when I try this on my engine. I have also been researching for best oil or fuel additives. I think if the ATF & acetone don't work I will soak the cylinders in full strength of the additive I pick....lol.

    Needle had nylon washer under it.? It fell out after the needle was removed from the slide.
    There is a plastic cup debris separator in the bottom of the bowl it goes around your main jet and trapped by the bowl installation. When stripped it falls out.
