    Great video. Thank you. This is my first time dealing with a slide of this type that is vacuum actuated rather than directly actuated via cable. I am having terrible starting/idling issues that I believed to be a clogged pilot. Although I found no obvious restrictions/blockages. But I did notice that the air/fuel screw appears to be missing the spring which could have allowed it to back out and foul up the air fuel mixture. I’m hoping that will remedy. I, unfortunately, didn’t note where the air/fuel screw was initially. Like a rookie.... if you have any other suggestions I’m all ears. I would like to add one thing to help those that watch this. Don’t forget to take your carb cleaner nozzle/straw and spray it through all of the air/fuel circuits-followed by compressed air. I’ve found this to be very helpful also. Any point within the carb that air or fuel flows, is a potential cause for issue.

    Great bunch of instructional videos you do. Question for you on a 1995 Bayou 300 standard bike , do you know what the black rubber hoses are for and what there to be connected to ,they come off the rear brakes and a third one I have not traced yet . There looking like an air line of some sort and they are connected on the brakes but just lead to the air box ? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Is it normal for you to have to keep the choke on for a minute then turn the idle speed screw in on warmup? Is this a problem with dirty jets?

  • @seanhuntsman7834
    @seanhuntsman7834 Před 3 lety +1

    Quick question. What setting is the position on that idle speed adjustment screw ( the black one on right side of the carb) adjusted to? I have yo back out the pilot screw on the bottom
    Of the carb more than 2 1/2 turns to get the carb to run. Soon as I let go of the throttle, it dies. A buddy of mine said it doesn’t matter what the idle screw is at. I disagree. Do Yu want to adjust it so u see the first hole on the air intake side is showing? I’ve cleaned this carb thoroughly. On the advice of the dealer / service, I put a 155 jet in instead of the 150 here in Colorado and it seems worse. Maybe it’s the idle screw adjustment. . Ran last year. But when I went to stop, I had to open the choke half way so it would stay running. This year, it just bogs down n won’t run faster than 2 mph. Soaked jets n carb in berrymans, put back in and it’s worse. Any suggestions would be awesome! Great videos by the way. I watched this video n others by u when taking apart my carb on my 2007 Kawasaki 360 prairie . I feel like I should put all the old jets back in. New gasket is in, springs and washers 🤦🏼‍♂️

    • @MidNebraskaMotorsports
      @MidNebraskaMotorsports  Před 3 lety +1

      Sean, sorry for the slow response. Every atv is different when it comes to idle adjust. There isn't set number of turn out or in. After the Prairie is warmed up, turn the knob until the atv idles, but not too high that it lurches in gear. Let me know if that helps. Thanks again.

    • @seanhuntsman7834
      @seanhuntsman7834 Před 3 lety

      @@MidNebraskaMotorsports I do appreciate the response! Thanks man. Yea still having some issues. Set the screw out on the bottom
      Of the carb and backed out the air slowly as it was idling. I think I got it down. Sucks because I have to take the gas tank off each time because the idle screw is hard to reach. I got the new carb kit n honestly? It runs better w the older jets. I used the new gasket n maybe one jet. A dealer suggested I used a different jet so it will run lean. Tried that . Works worse . I have it at a friends who we ride on his 150 acres. 40 miles away so hard to work on it all the time . The good news is that I got it idling great. But, bogs down when I give it gas. I’m thinking it still needs cleaned . Bud man, it’s clean as hell. At a loss. It Starts on a pull. I have changed the plug , did the jets , cleaned the carb 3 times, initially put a new air filter in. No lights are on like the belt. Not sure what else it can be w out throwing in the town n having someone else work on it. I never use the battery to start it. Always pulls on first pull. But, I did go get a new battery last week. Show not effect the running I’d think. But at this point, I’ll give anything a go. Thanks for your response bud .

Normally I would think that you can see through the length of the jet and also through each of the two small holes...Am I way off base or were you just referring to the smaller holes on the side of the tube??? thanks

    • @peanutbutterisfu

      Just had the same problem with the pilot jet it was completely plugged. I have a very small set of drill bits made for drilling out air bleeds on carburetors. I used a small pin to start loosening the crap in the hole then started with my smallest drill bit. I clamped the drill bit in a pair of vise grips and spun the jet on top of the bit. With drill bits this small they break easy so be very careful. You also need to be sure you are just removing the crap in the jet and don’t take any metal out of the jet. I ran this jet in a ultrasonic cleaner for hours and it didn’t clean it. All good now. I bought the drill bits from harbor freight they come in a small plastic package for only a few dollars.

    My prairie 360 is backfiring through the carb when engine is cold, when engine gets warm it runs perfect. I’ve been through the carb twice and even adjusted the fuel mixture screw to make it a little richer. That seemed to help a little bit, but it’s still doing it. @@MidNebraskaMotorsports thank you. That's what I did. No problem. This fourwheeler is new to me. Few questions if you dont mind. There seems to be a little delay from when I give throttle to when the bike actually moves. Like a delay in trans. I know nothing about these autos, never had 1 before. Also, is this a particularly loud bike? Mine just seems super loud. Not the exhaust, just the engine noise. Thanks in advance.
