  • Our video is a guided walk in Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales. Starting from East Witton we walk to Hullo Bridge and Middleham where we view the ruined castle which was the home of King Richard III. Middleham is also famous for training race horses. We return via the River Cover and Cover Bridge. This is an easy walk on public footpaths and tracks through grass fields and some minor tarmac road. There are some gates and stiles and one steep incline and decline.
Elevation: approx lowest point 101.51m (333ft) approx highest point 183.91m (603.37ft) approx ascent 165.88m (544.23ft).
Approx 5.8 miles allow 2 ¼ to 3 hours using OS Explorer Map OL30 and 302. This walk is done anti-clockwise.
Start point: East Witton Church or in the village.

Absolutely beautiful - the villages, countryside, farm animals, wildlife, historical ruins, country lanes. You captured it all in one walk!

Hi RHoDS713, thank you. What a fabulous walk this was we knew as we were filming that we were very lucky with what we had captured. We have filmed another walk starting from Middleham taking in the river and the gallops. All the best The Taxi Driver

Hi Andrea, thank you we have got off to a fantastic start this year. On our walks it is about timing trying to catch the wildlife and animals while they are still young. On this walk the bird life was just unbelievable especially the blackbird nesting in the wall of Richard III castle, another few days to a week they would of left the nest. We were asked over winter if we would film a walk from Dalehead Hotel at Thirlmere in the Lake District and the same with this one we held back until the weather was better and the Rhododendrons were in full flower. This looks a nice walk, we are editing it at the moment. The people from the hotel don't know we have filmed it so they are in for a lovely surprise when it goes live in the next 10 days. All the best John and Janice

Thank you FF7824, the baby animals were wonderful the amount of pleasure we got from filming this walk is hard to put into words. We have to keep moving to get the film finished but it was one of those days you didn't want to end. It's not often you can capture so much in one walk, it was a special day. Thank you Gary, we really enjoyed making this video as well. We tried to time it while the wildlife is still young and weather good but sometimes that bit of good luck helps which it certainly did with this one. All the best The Taxi Driver

Hi Nikito Art, thank you. The stars of the walk were the farm animals and the wildlife. A few of the highlights were the birds at each side of the track at Richard III castle, the heron and the squirrel at either side of Cover Bridge with all the traffic passing by. The one that really made us smile but hard to capture was little lamb asleep in the evening sunshine with his two tiny front legs resting on to top of his sibling. What a great day we had all the best The Taxi Driver

Thank you Toni, with this walk there was so much more to see than we have shown you. We really had to edit it pretty hard it's not often we manage to film so many interesting things on one walk. We are really proud of this one. All the best The Taxi Driver

Another lovely walk - my sister and I just got back from a week in West Yorkshire, weather was fab, we got to York, Bridlington, and Liverpool. Sadly I couldn't convince her to take one of these walks, but we had the best time, and we both want to move to Yorkshire

Hi Lana, we are so pleased that you had a great time over here in Yorkshire. There are so many wonderful places to visit, we are still discovering them ourselves even though we walk all over England. Today we will be out walking in North Yorkshire, not filming, even though the weather is showery. All the best The Taxi Driver

Hi colm one yes we did really enjoy this walk. What we didn't show you was the conversations and the fun we had walking through East Witton at the start of the walk. It is such a quiet little village that we caused a bit of a stir with the cameras and the commentary. The villagers were coming out of their houses walking their dogs and stopping to talk to us and asking what we were doing. It took us a long time to get to the top of the village because we always stop and talk if someone asks us a question and as you can see we captured a few on camera. The people of North Yorkshire are so friendly. All the best The Taxi Driver
