Hi Andrea, this was a fabulous walk as you can see it was more or less a steady climb to the top. We have seen pictures of High Cup Nick but didn't realise how impressive it really was till we got there. It was brilliant sunshine when we set off but started to cloud in and the sky darkened toward the end. For our next walk we are back in the Lake District which is another 50 miles west at a place called How Town on the edge of Ullswater. We did this very little walk on the 9th July but as usual there is plenty to see. We were very surprised with the heat to see a small group of nuns, who we think were from abroad, walking in their full length habits. We hope to have this one on before the weekend. All the best John and Janice

Hi Ruth you will find this a fabulous walk especially with the sunshine. You can start the walk a bit nearer but we think Dufton with its car park and clean toilets is an excellent place to start and finish. We took our tea break at the top not far from the waterfall where the views were superb. We do think a walking stick is a must as the climb down into the valley over the boulders and rocks can be a bit tricky but if you take your time you will be delighted when you reach the spring fed stream at the bottom to find that there are fish swimming there right up to the source. We know you will have a great time all the best The Taxi Driver.

Hi Don, thank you. High Cup Nick certainly lives up to its name, a fabulous walk. Dufton is a lovely village with ample parking, public toilets and a wonderful pub and quite easy to get to from the A66. We wished we could of stopped for a bit longer on the top to admire the views but we had to push on to get back in time. All the best The Taxi Driver

Great to see lots of greenery and sunshine while it's drizzly and dreary at the moment! Lol. I'm determined to go on at least one of your many walks at some point! Lol. Thanks for the video . :). Pat

Hi Pat, we must admit it does cheer you up looking back to see what the summer was like. This walk was always talked about but we never got round to doing. Certainly one of our top 5 in the Pennines/Yorkshire Dales. We have got a lot more sunshine to keep us going through winter as we still have 8 more videos to edit. All the best The Taxi Driver

Think this is the second of your videos I've stumbled on, first was your walk near Bampton when you parked at Burn Banks.
Again your simple directions have tempted me to take a stroll. I'm often in the Stag at Dufton but rarely think of going for a walk, similarly down at the Mardale in Bampton.
As a local I rarely think to walk the areas close to me, I just sit in the pub.
Great video, but the "snipe" that's a Curlew. Snipe has a straight beak and about the size of a starling. 👍

Thanks for posting this, did the same route with my brothers the same year, but in the opposite direction. Great walk.

I did this walk early today, inspired by the taxidriver. I had the place to myself, no-one else there except two sheepherders with their dogs and quadbikes. Watched the scenery while having my packed breakfast. Lost my hankie coming down that ravine. Didn't fancy climbing up to find it.

One walk I'd love to do, we stay nearby too. Think bird was a kestrel looking at tail and it hovering.

Hi Charlotte, thanks for that. We know if you do this walk you will really enjoy it. We only had a quick look round Dufton at the start of our walk but its a beautiful little village with a shop, pub with accommodation and a caravan park plus we think a couple of guest houses but just a few miles away you've got the beautiful village of Appleby which we know is a great place to stop. Hi colm one, we found going up was a lot easier than coming down. As we came over the waterfall we were just going from boulder to boulder making sure we didn't make a mistake but what a great walk. All the best The Taxi Driver
