Hi Lana, we are fascinated by canals you could call us gongoozlers. We will be doing some more walks when we come across sections of canal that are interesting and worth filming. We take our hat off to James Brindley. All the best The Taxi Driver

I loved this video as it brought back very happy memories as I used to live near the start of your walk and walked to the Five Rise Locks nearly every weekend with the dog. I have moved away, but do miss these walks and even in winter there was always something worth looking at. Thank you for taking us with you.

Hi Busy Bee, this was the first time we had ever done this walk and within a short time of filming we had this feeling it would turn out to be a special day. There was so much activity with people enjoying themselves walking, cycling and running in such a peaceful corridor so close the road, the railway and the town of Bingley. The fisherman was just fantastic he was baiting and pulling many fish out while we were talking to him. Thank you for your comment all the best The Taxi Driver.

Just shows the amazing skill and engineering that was used to build the canals and locks , I watch quite a few narrowboat videos and find it all very interesting. Thanks for sharing. :)

Hi Sunrise seven, to think that the oldest parts of the Leeds Liverpool Canal is nearly 250 years old and still working is fantastic. The slow pace of life on the canal whether boating or walking or just watching like we were at the cafe at the top of the Five Rise Locks seems to make everyone happy and content. The preservation of the old working barges and the narrowboats is great and even the olds mills have been converted in to much sort after dwellings. All the best The Taxi Driver.

Please call the canal boats Narrowboats and not barges. Barges carry coal etc. and are not pleasure craft.
Some canal folk are very touchy about this.
This was another extremely good video and as always relaxing to watch. It was quite educational too
showing the Bingley Five Rise which is five locks in one and a rarety.
A nice place for people to visit in summer.

Hi colm one the Taxi Driver has got his head down in shame and stands corrected for calling Narrowboats barges. Trying to film a walk in one day it is easy to make mistakes and not easy to go back a correct it on another day. We are glad you enjoyed our walk all the best The Taxi Driver

Enjoyed walking with you. Had to lookup Narrowboats and see that it is quite a popular way to holiday there. Very interesting to see the locks work. We have several on the Arkansas river but they are considerably different. Thanks again for sharing the walk with us. I always look forward to seeing your videos. Keep moving forward! :)

Thank you FF7824, we think this part of the canal is the most beautiful and thought the highlight of this walk was sitting outside the cafe at the top of Five Rise watching the boats and the world go by. We were amazed to see so many people enjoying themselves, whether walking, cycling, running or fishing, it's just another world down by the canal away from the towns and villages. The canal was built in 1770 and runs for 127 miles and has 93 locks. All the best The Taxi Driver.

Another great and informative video. I live in Leigh, Greater Manchester just a few hundred metres from the Leeds Liverpool canal, although our part of the canal doesn’t compare favourably with this.....

Hi Paul, it is great that all the canal is still in use as it is so old. We know some parts are not as nice as other parts. To be fair we did pick the best part of the canal to film but we were very lucky with the weather and all the people that were enjoying themselves. We think it is great that so many people give up their time as volunteers to keep the canal open for everyone to enjoy including ourselves. All the best The Taxi Driver

Yet an other outstanding walk! Fascinating combination of nature and industrial heritage - just my cup of tea. We will certainly put this walk onto the top of our "to-walk list" for our annual visit to Britain. (If B**x*t will permit :-( )

Thank you Dave. This was a fabulous walk there was so much going on everywhere. The little cafe at the top of Five Rise Lock was fantastic great for wheelchairs, pushchairs, people sat with their dogs and walkers just watching the world go by. The fisherman was great too he was catching fish as we were talking to him, unbelievable. We also saw five kingfishers and a white egret which we couldn't catch on camera because they were to fast. We were amazed when we saw the footage of the heron at the base of the weir that was actually catching a fish, which we didn't realise as we were filming. One of the best days we've had this year.
