  • Our video is a video guided walk on the edge of the North York Moors, North Yorkshire. Starting from Great Ayton we walk to Little Ayton and Cliff Ridge Wood where we see a magnificent carpet of bluebells and white woodland flowers. This is an easy walk on grass and gravel paths/tracks and some quiet tarmac road. There are some stiles, gates and gentle inclines and declines.
Elevation: approx lowest point 78.50m (257.54ft) approx highest point 149.84m (491.60ft) approx ascent 82.84m (271.77ft).
Approx 3.75 miles allow 1½ - 2 hours using OS Explorer Map OL26, North York Moors (Western Area). This walk is done anti-clockwise.
Start point: the side road by the large green area and the River Leven called Low Green.

Thank you once again for a lovely walk in your beautiful country side. I loved the beautiful colors of the trees, flowers and other sites. I enjoyed the dog fetching the ball from the stream. A friend of mine has a dog just like it and it will fetch a throw toy all day. You enriched my understanding of Captain Cook. Sir James certainly let his mark on the world. I have snorkled near the monument to him in Hawaii. The youTubers, like yourself, who explore and share what they have seen with are emulating the beloved captain from Yorkshire. Thank you again.

Thank you FF7824, what a fabulous start to our filming season we have been waiting for weeks for the weather to get better. It was great that the man with the little dog waited for us to catch up before he let her go into the water for her ball. We meet some lovely people on our walks. Its amazing the connection that you been snorkeling near the monument in Hawaii. Later on in the year if we are lucky we are going to work on a big project that will hopefully tell you a bit more about Captain Cook and his time at Whitby. All the best The Taxi Driver.

Thank you Diana we are really please we have made you morning commute. Even after we have filmed the walk we get a lot of pleasure in editing our videos especially when we get comments from someone like you who appreciates what we do. We are already editing our next video in the Yorkshire Dales a different landscape to the North York Moors but you will be surprised at what we have captured. Same as Great Ayton this would make a lovely family walk. We leave you in suspense but coming soon all the best The Taxi Driver

Hi Andrea, we left home in the mist but by the time we reached Great Ayton the sun was starting to break through. The bluebells were incredible but they only have a short life span of about three weeks. The woods were alive with bird song. What a fabulous start to our filming year and we have already started to edit our next video in the Yorkshire Dales. As with this walk it started out cloudy but the sun did come out and we got some great wildlife and history shots. At the moment it is raining here in Yorkshire and has been for two days but next week the weather has been forcast good so we hope to be in the Lake District filming. All the very best John and Janice.

Hi Sonne thank you and it's great to hear from you again. We have been waiting for weeks to get out into the countryside to film again especially for the bluebells and the baby lambs. To be honest we have been lucky with the wildlife even the white squirrel we couldn't capture on film because he was to quick for us. We went out filming the next day in the Yorkshire Dales because the weather was quite good we captured a tiny bit of wildlife footage which we think was incredible but we are not going to spoil the surprise. The film starts off slow but picks up to a great finish. We will keep you in suspense for a little while longer all the best The Taxi Driver

Such a beautiful landscape!!! Your video just make me to want go out in nature!
Anyway, how many miles is this walk? Would you say its easy for people like me with bad knees and a very poor sense of direction?!
    Love your video

Hi Elizabeth, we rushed to get this video done to allow anyone in the area to go and see the bluebells. The walk is 3.75 miles with one incline but you don't have to rush and we only walk slow because we are filming it as we go. You could take a flask and a sandwich or visit the cafe at the farm. If you take a look at the walk on our website as from Saturday there is all the information, walk directions and a map that you can print off for free to help you. All the best The Taxi Driver

Hi Lana thank you. We know you will have a great time over in England. We would love to meet up but as you can appreciate due to work commitments we only do these walks on our days off which are a bit erratic. You could always drop us a line when you come over to England telling us when and where you will be and we could take it from there. All the best The Taxi Driver

Hi Margaret this is a fantastic walk in a lovely area of the North York Moors. Great Ayton was made famous by Captain Cook who was born nearby and went to school there. As with all the villages in the North York Moors it has a timeless quality and is overlooked by Roseberry Topping which can be walked from Great Ayton. Roseberry Topping is one of our other video walks. We have some great walks planned for next year starting with the Lakes in January. We would love to go to the Isle of Wight Hiking Festival but I don't think we will have the time but we hope that you have a great time. Have a good Christmas all the best The Taxi Driver
