I love you!!! The second you said jumps I knew you were a ballet dancer 😅 because I also noticed how, especially after this lock down and eating only crap and putting on some 6 extra kg, it has shifted my center of gravity making jumps very heavy and harder to control. I also love how you're not stressig about this!! When I first went vegan I also went mental and after about 9 months I was just exhausted of constantly looking out for everything and now after 7 days of fasting and feeling great! Even survived a ridiculously intense ballet class I feel really good in ketosis so I'm planning to go keto vegan which also seems to make my autism symptoms much milder! Thank you so much for this input its exactly what I was looking for and what I imagined it would work for me as well, since a "clasic keto diet" of 90% fat just sounds unreasonable for me so it seems like you're also at around the borderline between keto and carbs and keeping it in the keto realm which is what I'm hoping for as well! I also love how you seem very in tune with your body and also I can assume that as a dancer you know your body really well and with the aid of a scale you're pretty exact. I don't know if this is related to anything but during this fast and being in deep keto I have much more flexibility which I love and while I seem like I've lost a bit of strength it definitely seems like the precision has increased. I'm really looking forward to starting this vegan keto, it might just be the lone diet I've been looking for forever! I definitely want to do intermitent fasting as well so I'm a bit worried about how to take in 3000-3800 cal within a 6 hours eating period especially since breaking a fast should be done gently. I used to make whole grain sourdough bred toast for breakfast and that just knocked me out at lunch time and I just needed a nap, but with a protein shake seemed to work fine. Can't wait to see your recipes. PS you're literally the only person I've ever instantly subscribed to within minutes of watching the video. I just love how you're clearly not doing this out of comercial reasons and know what you're talking about! Also love how you're not trying to impose your choices onto others! But just doing this reasonably and because it's how your feel best.

Low Vitamin D is an odd thing my husband is a contractor in Southern California, we live in the high desert and literally get about 300 days of sunshine. He is tan, and not vegan, but his vitamin D was tested and extremely low. That tells me there could be some genetic reason why people are not metabolizing Vitamin D. His genetics are primary English, Welsh origin. So might be something to that.

Thank you so very much for your highly balance minded video. I'm looking into keto vegan because I was vegan for 6 years and I felt like the incredible hulk physically. Awesome health. Fibromyalia DISAPPEARED. NEVER HAD ENERGY IN MY WHOLE LIFE LIKE I DID AS A VEGAN!! For convenience sake in a relationship I forfeited my vegan diet and began eating meat again. Right about that time I signed up with a new PC who did my physical and my D levels B12, bones.. everything was fine (still at Vegan levels) until at that same time I began eating meat for the next 5 years until 5 days ago. ( In just 5 days I feel a great improvement). While a carnivore for 5 years my health began to decline to some serious low levels unbeknownst to me. While my new PC was investigating my B12 and D she reported that my B12 was down around 200 from 400 and my D2 was seriously low, I don't recall the number. Regardless of the levels they were so low that it was causing me dementia symptoms and physical mobility disability, irreversible neurologic damage. The question has arisen that why if I was eating plenty of meat and been outdoors a lot WHY had my B12 dropped so low? They are now investigating whether I have no intrinsic factor or some other metabolic reason. Our body requires many hormones to process our nutrients and going through menopause many women lose their ability to absorb especially these critical vitamins like D and B12. I'm afraid the vegagan diet wrongly recieves the blame for these things because they seemed to run higher in women and the connection is never made that it is a hormonal problem due to menopause and peri menopause. These deficiencies can cause Pernicious anemia, like my elderly friend is battling and these hormonal imbalances can cause what is known as hormonal anxiety (panic attacks, night terrors, insomnia and so much more!) and it is little known. Women get put on Anti-depressants, which further their deficiencies, when it's really the inability of their body to make use of nutrients because their hormones are out of balance. I now have to take shots for B12 (1x/month with possible increase after next check up) because suppliments do not absorb into my blood cell, they flood my blood stream and I have to take a D2 supliment (once a week 1.25 mg). Since I had no deficiency while vegan but I developed a deficiency while eating meat I intend to go back to being The Incredible Vegan Hulk (possibly keto vegan) to the best of my ability. I like your advice to see how your body does on certain things because everybody has a different activity level stress level and chemistry so I want to try keto-vegan and see how it goes. I always find the longer I go between meals the more clarity I have mentally until the Omnivore sugars dropped. Looking forward to more of your sound-minded videos and feeling better.

Can I ask you a question? It is probably a Yoga question. I have to set it up. Several years ago I read about a Chinese man who died in 1931 and was 255 years old. He served under three different emperors and current emperor at the time he passed, had commissioned a study and verified his age. He was a martial arts warrior and a master herbalist. He was married many times. He was interviewed by the western press. They asked him for his secret. One time he said "goji berries". Another time he said "I conquered inner peace" There are several books written about him. He was a strict vegan except for one thing. About once a month he went to the Yellow River, first built a fire and then caught a fish. He quickly cooked and ate that fish -- like immediately. He spent a lot of time hiking through remote mountains by himself collecting herbs, which he then sold -- and of course he consumed some while hiking around. So my point is that what he did is not very well documented. I have spent some time studying the historical record of what people like him were doing at that time. In essence he was doing KETO, some special martial arts/youga exercises, and maybe was drinking a special slightly alcoholic Kombucha Tea made from goji.
So here is my question. From your Yoga experience, do you have any idea what he meant when he said "I conquered inner peace?"
I really relate to what you have have been saying. I am lazy too. Not intellectually lazy, don't want to waste my time with personal bureaucracy. We definitely are in the unknown "ignorance" territory when it comes to keto. Keto is generally introduced as an over simplified "bio hack". In practice it can be quite complicated but the simplified version works for some people in their 20's. Seriously, many people with known health problems should only be doing it under a doctor's supervision. If you are brave enough to do it by yourself, I think it is more important to learn how to listen to your body and think about what is going on than to count your macros. I think your attitude is right on. To me Keto is not a hack but a very important evolving life style -- currently an adventure. There is an awful lot that we don't know yet. The main thing I have found out by listening to my body is that our standard diet is missing some stuff. It is quite possible, we have been doing it wrong for thousands of years. For one thing, it is not just that we are eating too much high glycemic carbs, we are only getting 10% of the resistant starches we, and our inner probiotic "biodome" need. We should mostly be consuming a lot more Omega3 oils, and resistant starches. Omega3 used to be in the foods our ancestors ate. By listening to my body I learned that Leaf Protein Concentrate digests in one tenth the time, with much less metabolic effort, and provides better building block amino acids, than animal protein. And by also eating practically no carbs and a lot of resistant starch -- I find I go into keto at night quite easily. If I fall off the wagon, it does not take days but hours to recover.
But I have also learned that we are all dehydrated. Even though we drink lots of water, we are dehydrated. All that water just passes through us. It does some good but isn't getting into our cells -- not enough of it. Water is not being carried along our facia to the cells (this is a new discovery that explains some things having to do with yoga and acupuncture) but that is not all. Our cell walls are supposed to be made from omega3, but they are not -- our cells had to use whatever has been provided, and this is limiting what gets into and out of the cells. All people share pretty much the same biological clock. Keto takes place at midnight in our sleep, if our diet allows it. I believe Keto is our natural and normal state. God bless you.

Colin Kelley Asian culture overall sees inner peace different than we do in the West I think. I have peace through Christ. (I do have to fight w my earthly flesh many times but I still have Him there to help me) He gave me my soul and spirit to begin with, so seeking Him is just more natural.

For a more accurate way of tracking one's level of ketosis, the gold standard is using blood ketone strips. The strips are not cheap but it only takes one or two tests per week to see progress or lack thereof. As you said it can take months to reach fat adaptation and to be able recognize a level of progress without testing.

Your perspective is refreshing to say the least!
I agree that some prepping methods can damage the integrity of the foods by cutting. I like to have a basic meal plan that lends itself to flexibility. I do try to list possible recipes for the week, based on what I have on hand. Some meals I am just plain looking forward to, like Shrimp Scampi!
Weighing myself every morning is a good idea. I'm new to Keto and plan to watch the carbs carefully and greatly reduce sugar intake. Unlike yourself, I plan to have a higher percentage of meat VS vegetarian dishes, but there will be both. I could give up meat, but not fish. Thank you for sharing your one year Keto anniversary. I very much like your approach!

I like to prep tofu and tempeh and have it ready. Do you use miso? I like your channel and enjoy the content. I only eat meat like fish a few times per week. I have cut back on wine and plan on using alcohol only socially within moderation...this is hard for me sometimes. Have a great week!

I didn’t actually realize initially that you were vegan but that’s awesome - I plan on giving this information to my son who is also vegan. I do include eggs, dairy and pasture raised, grass fed, humanely killed beef on occasion as well chicken and I do eat wild caught fish. Sorry - I wish I could switch over completely and hey - now I have some more choices!

Ahhh it was at Yoga I tore my meniscus ... Which has left me almost completely unable to do any other exercise !! A high percentage of people in the UK are very deficient in Vit D, regardless of our diet... It's NOT a Vegan problem... However, many GP's are no longer allowed to check Vit D levels ... The shareholders of PCN's don't think it's cost effective...!!

Good job you listened to your body and found you had vitamin D deficiency and have addressed the problem. Vitamin D helps regulate the amount of calcium and phosphate in our body to keep our bones and muscles healthy. It also helps support our immune system. So glad you are feeling much better. Thanks again for sharing your keto experience. Lots of love XX

You can be amazed at what you can do if you don't give up. I didn't like the worship part at the end of yoga classes. Try NMN. It's not a vitamin. It promotes production of NAD, the precursor of cell rejuvenation.

I am a night shift ICU nurse and I know without even checking that my Vit D and K-2 are very low because I have very little exposure to the sun. I also have a very narrow esophagus and it is difficult for me to swallow pills. Are you aware of an easy to swallow Vit. D pills? I would love to get a powder form but all the health food stores I have been in do not have the Vit. D in the powder form. Any suggestions? Very good video here. I love the tips as to what is most important in the Keto life style. I don't weigh myself everyday because I am like the ostradge with the head in the sand; if I don't see it it's not there. But I agree weighing everyday is essenstial to knowing what is working and what isn't working in my diet . I can tell you this for sure that there is a huge difference in my cognitive status as compared to pre-keto living. I read faster, I retain information more easily, and I don't get the brain fatigue I use to get , as in, if I put one more piece of information into my head I will implode.

Liquid D3 is a great idea. I can down 5 pills at a time so never had problems :)) The D3 I'm taking is prescribed by my GP which contains 20,000IU per capsule, I take 2 a week. I think if you know your D3 is very low it might be better to have the blood test and get a prescribed dosage. Normal D3 supplements you get from shops can only get up to 4000IU. It makes such a difference in terms of lifting my mood and energy.
