      @she_surrendered Před 2 lety +1

      Yea… hormones are protein peptides. if we make it unavailable by not eating it, our bodies will start eating its own proteins, starting with the toxic protein peptides/ hormones… 🙌🏾 a different type of autophagy… this deep in keto helps the body detox sugar (parasite food) AND harmful proteins! Genius if you can do it long term but probably shouldn’t be done as a whole lifestyle forever.

    Finally! Much needed conversation and information on this subject. I need to be in ketosis for therapeutic reasons but I didn’t do well on the traditional keto regimen suggested. I found that a vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, or otherwise plant dominant diet is best for lowering inflammation, keep blood sugar down and steady, improving gut microbiome, etc. Loved getting the info straight from Dom d’Agostino! Good questions and topics, but the caption on the thumbnail doesn’t match video content. 😉👍🏼

    O my goodness. Thank you! Plant based, low carb-er here! Everyone seems to be at wars... vegans vs ketos. Ketosis is about macros whereas being vegan or plant based is devoid of animals plus the perfect way to incorporate more plants.

      @littlevoice_11 Před rokem +1

      @Mikey Boltzz nuts, seeds (in particular almonds, chia, flax, hemp, pumpkin), organic Tofu (The brand Tofoo is good), tempeh, edamame, unsweetened soya yoghurt (sone brands have prebiotic in them too), soya milk (clean brands only), raw cacao powder, chlorella/spirulina, unsweetened nut butter, I personally use pea protein isolate powder. Some vegetables are quite high in protein per 100g, considering they are vegetables (broccoli, mushrooms, etc).
      Depending on how low in carbs you are, then some legumes are great (chickpeas, lentils, kidney beans, peas)
      If you eat eggs then plain Quorn pieces or mince. Also quinoa is high in protein if you eat grains and have a higher carbohydrate threshold.

    I'm lacto-ovo veggie, and often vegan. I'm going to take 'Perfect Aminos' to get the exact ratio of 8 essentials; I will make the rest in my body. You don't need to consume any protein at all, but you must consume enough of each of the 8 essential amino acids. Any excess of an essential amino acid because of imbalanced ratios, that can't be put into a protein, will be turned into glucose is what their website says. I think that it will solve my long standing issue and problem about protein.

    I eat only locally produced and farmed food, meat and fished in moderation, goat yoghurt, I eat lots of vegetables. I don’t eat legumes and grains because my inflammation skyrockets, I tried vegan a couple of times. My body doenst work on it.
    Ethically speaking and from holistic point of view I think it is debatable that vegan or vegetarian lifestyle is environmental friendly. Most soil in the world cant be used for growing crops but can be used for feeding cows or sheeps.
    Only enormous monoculture can provide the calories needed for the whole world when that would go vegan or vegetarian. In colder climate it basically not possible so by eating vegan you are making an impact on the environment. Always better to eat locally and from a small scale production for a fair price.
    I hear them talking in this video about lots of processed foods and supplements. I think eating what we should eat provides us what we need.

    • @tiffaniecross2209
      @tiffaniecross2209 Před 2 lety +2

      I think that some vegans don’t want to eat or use animal products because they don’t want to promote misuse of the animal. Honey is a product that’s important, because beekeepers are helping to preserve this vital part of crop production. Natural hives are infrequent and prone to predators like bears and ants. Beekeepers protect their hives from predators and they never take too much honey. They only take the “extra”. But a vegan could have their own hive to ensure they know they aren’t taking too much from their bees. Also, chickens and ducks ovulate (lay eggs) regularly even if no male bird is present. Eating eggs your hen or duck produce, doesn’t harm your chicken or duck. If you don’t eat it , it will rot.

    I don't get the early point about fiber's value in "attenuating the glycemic response" ... who cares about a sharp glycemic response? Having chronically high insulin is the only serious concern I'm aware of ... it doesn't matter if your blood sugar spikes if it comes right back down... at least I've never seen a study saying people who experience big spikes have a problem. The main problem is people are constantly overfed, which means constantly secreting insulin, which eventually means insulin resistance. Just eat foods that allow you to eat less and less often. Fiber is important if you want to poop a lot, I guess, but everything else that people "know" about it seems to be mythology.

Maybe like, .5 grams per pound? Can you still build muscle if you lessen the amount of protein? Also, we've found that higher amounts of protein won't kick you out of ketosis, either... so, is there a sweet spot?

      Still aim for 0.8-1g of aiming to build and particularly if you get it from wholefoods rather including protein isolate powder.
      I have 80-90g per day BUT I am underweight and short as well. It ends up that I have more than 1.5g per kg.
      If you gave more protein than needed it will be used as energy or stored. The issues wirh traditionally high protein diets was kidney function. The negative effects found in this area were predominantly relayed to animal protein.
      Protein also triggers IGF1 but this can be balanced with autophagy achieved through time restricted eating advocated by Thomas such as 16:8or OMAD.
      Also, protein in general needs good stomach acid and adequate enzymes to digest and absorb it. Then you need stimuli on tour muscles to ensure the amino acids are used for muscle growth and maintenance.

    Thomas, I appreciate your channel and have learned a lot from you. That said, it irks me that every time you mention "vegan" or "plant-based", you quickly follow up with the denial of being so. We know you're not vegan, but do appreciate those of us that are, so maybe it's not so necessary to disclaim it as though it is something to be ashamed of. Also, there's no need to harp on protein for vegans...we're doing just fine on that level.

    Yeah, no. Unless you were bitten by that tick that make you allergic to meat proteins, I do not see any reason to go "vegan anything".
    Every single amino acid and nutrient the body needs comes from primarily red meat. The amount of pea protein and other powdered supplements or lentils you would need to consume to equal red meat is bloat city.

    I would like to eat less meat, from an environmental point of view, although not removing it from my diet altogether. I would like to have "vegetarian" days. I already eat salad virtually everyday, and cruciferous vegetables as well. I will be trying to add this in going into the spring with more veg being on the market. I do not live were buying all those specialist keto foods are available in shops, so it will be a specialist product free effort. I'll be giving it a try anyway, wish me luck! It really looks like I' have to get any protein from nuts, eggs, and if I drive to the next town over there is ONE store there that has some tofu!

      Yeah. I'm currently pescatarian and cycle between keto and 100g carb high protein protocols. I've not been doing this the whole time, but I'm 80 pounds down and fully cured insulin resistance. Olive Oil and Avocado Oil are key. Fish, Eggs, Shrimp, Whey. Leafy Greens, Cruciferous Veggies, Limited Berries, Limited Dairy, some psyllium husk to get fiber up. I stay away from nuts because I always overeat them, but if you can control it they would be great for that kind of diet too.
