I’m eating this way and have felt less pain in my ovaries. It can and should be done for those of us battling hormone imbalances.
Yea… hormones are protein peptides. if we make it unavailable by not eating it, our bodies will start eating its own proteins, starting with the toxic protein peptides/ hormones… 🙌🏾 a different type of autophagy… this deep in keto helps the body detox sugar (parasite food) AND harmful proteins! Genius if you can do it long term but probably shouldn’t be done as a whole lifestyle forever.
Yes exactly its something ive been trying to recommend and explain to my wife suffering from similar ovary issues. Thankyou for confirming that it works
That would be so interesting to see the outcome of both your experiments. Great video. Thanks🍵
Anyone else in love with that wall of plants behind them?
Great video! Always glad to hear that what my gut's telling me is supported by science.
Finally! Much needed conversation and information on this subject. I need to be in ketosis for therapeutic reasons but I didn’t do well on the traditional keto regimen suggested. I found that a vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, or otherwise plant dominant diet is best for lowering inflammation, keep blood sugar down and steady, improving gut microbiome, etc. Loved getting the info straight from Dom d’Agostino! Good questions and topics, but the caption on the thumbnail doesn’t match video content. 😉👍🏼
Ty!! I knew there was a way to do it but as I’ve never went vegan vegetarian but not vegan I didn’t really take the time to pursue it so thank you so much for this video I cannot wait to hear the good doctor’s thoughts on this
O my goodness. Thank you! Plant based, low carb-er here! Everyone seems to be at wars... vegans vs ketos. Ketosis is about macros whereas being vegan or plant based is devoid of animals plus the perfect way to incorporate more plants.
I have about 80-90g protein per day with ease too.
What are your protein sources? I’m trying to put together a grocery list of my own
@Mikey Boltzz nuts, seeds (in particular almonds, chia, flax, hemp, pumpkin), organic Tofu (The brand Tofoo is good), tempeh, edamame, unsweetened soya yoghurt (sone brands have prebiotic in them too), soya milk (clean brands only), raw cacao powder, chlorella/spirulina, unsweetened nut butter, I personally use pea protein isolate powder. Some vegetables are quite high in protein per 100g, considering they are vegetables (broccoli, mushrooms, etc).
Depending on how low in carbs you are, then some legumes are great (chickpeas, lentils, kidney beans, peas)
If you eat eggs then plain Quorn pieces or mince. Also quinoa is high in protein if you eat grains and have a higher carbohydrate threshold.
Its really cool that you made a video like this. I do think more whole foods plant based diet videos would be nice, especially since I see a lot of studies supporting it for weight loss and overall health.
thanks for the suggestion
Recently, I have been planning to procure a butyrate supplement to compensate for the deletion of all legumes and pulses in order to pursue deeper keto. Glad I viewed this.
Thomas is SUPER fit! And very knowledgeable. Great guest!
I have AlphaGal Syndrome and can not do mammal meat or dairy. I can do poultry, seafood , and plant based. Thanks for this.
Thank you for doing this. This means a lot. ♥️
You're the best, Thomas.
I'm lacto-ovo veggie, and often vegan. I'm going to take 'Perfect Aminos' to get the exact ratio of 8 essentials; I will make the rest in my body. You don't need to consume any protein at all, but you must consume enough of each of the 8 essential amino acids. Any excess of an essential amino acid because of imbalanced ratios, that can't be put into a protein, will be turned into glucose is what their website says. I think that it will solve my long standing issue and problem about protein.
Aarre Peltomaa
Wow! I was just thinking about this topic, it’s like he reads my mind and doesn’t even know me.
Not plant based, but every night a higher portion of my dinner is vegetables! I crave them!
Feelings on flax oil and hemp oil.
I put both on my greens.
Ty for doing this for us who dont eat meat products I do eat some dairy but very limited !! But i am glad to see a video like this gear towards some of us who dont eat meat !!
i would love to see a interview with Dom on Breast Cancer and ketosis as well as post Cancer high fat Diet and Hormones .
October is around the corner ...what better time
Great information
This is of great interest
Great point about ketones helping slow down muscle atrophy, which means you don't need quite as much protein on keto. I still suspect it's difficult to get enough bioavailable protein from plants alone, but there are some mitigating factors that can help. :)
I have around 80-90g per day but I'm small. Often I would exceed this if I wasn't consciously tracking macros. Usually around 30% of my macros are protein.
I also have seen the research on time restricted eating enhancing protein utilisation and muscle growth/maintenance
@@littlevoice_11 Sounds pretty good! And that makes sense about TRE, I think I heard something about that as well. :)
I’m going through the menopause and really struggling to sleep do you have any advise for me? I’ve been on the keto diet for 2 weeks now and lost 10lbs.
I eat only locally produced and farmed food, meat and fished in moderation, goat yoghurt, I eat lots of vegetables. I don’t eat legumes and grains because my inflammation skyrockets, I tried vegan a couple of times. My body doenst work on it.
Ethically speaking and from holistic point of view I think it is debatable that vegan or vegetarian lifestyle is environmental friendly. Most soil in the world cant be used for growing crops but can be used for feeding cows or sheeps.
Only enormous monoculture can provide the calories needed for the whole world when that would go vegan or vegetarian. In colder climate it basically not possible so by eating vegan you are making an impact on the environment. Always better to eat locally and from a small scale production for a fair price.
I hear them talking in this video about lots of processed foods and supplements. I think eating what we should eat provides us what we need.
I think that some vegans don’t want to eat or use animal products because they don’t want to promote misuse of the animal. Honey is a product that’s important, because beekeepers are helping to preserve this vital part of crop production. Natural hives are infrequent and prone to predators like bears and ants. Beekeepers protect their hives from predators and they never take too much honey. They only take the “extra”. But a vegan could have their own hive to ensure they know they aren’t taking too much from their bees. Also, chickens and ducks ovulate (lay eggs) regularly even if no male bird is present. Eating eggs your hen or duck produce, doesn’t harm your chicken or duck. If you don’t eat it , it will rot.
i think a lot of those vegans disagree with what you said. You need to have a link for the study and research of what you claim.
What about DPA as far as omega 3s? I've read this is important, as well.
I started getting a pain in my left pectoral muscle on Keto. My doctor said it was due to high cholesterol levels in the breast tissue from too much dairy, cheese etc.
Would keto with a calorie surplus And dry fasting during Ramadan giv me a body recomp?
Also Dr. Berg said in his one video that the protein powders are not good so confusing .
Great video!! Aren't all pea protein powders full of metals?
Finally someone admitting that there are ways of having some vegetables with being a ketogenic lifestyle without sacrificing autophagy which would be omnivoric with fiber and plant based protein.
Or substitute with flaxseed oil if you are looking for omega 3's
It’s a tough possibility. Pescatarian keto definitely.
It’s going to come down to extracting collagen from algae. That will be the decision coming up!
There is no collagen in algae. Collagen is literal animal protein.
@@JasonBuckman they’re doing research right now it’s a possibility it is.
@@TeamBuffaloOutdoors No, there isn't. Algae is not an animal. Collagen is literal animal protein. They would have to redefine the word and change what it is for them to say it's in algae.
SUPER Cool !! Meeting of the minds

I don't get the early point about fiber's value in "attenuating the glycemic response" ... who cares about a sharp glycemic response? Having chronically high insulin is the only serious concern I'm aware of ... it doesn't matter if your blood sugar spikes if it comes right back down... at least I've never seen a study saying people who experience big spikes have a problem. The main problem is people are constantly overfed, which means constantly secreting insulin, which eventually means insulin resistance. Just eat foods that allow you to eat less and less often. Fiber is important if you want to poop a lot, I guess, but everything else that people "know" about it seems to be mythology.
I just joined a discord channel to get some info on how to do it ... there was a sound of crickets ... sharing this with them
So, on the ketogenic diet...with it being protein/muscle sparing, can you take in less than the regularly recommended amount of protein at .8 - 1.0 grams per pound? Maybe like, .5 grams per pound? Can you still build muscle if you lessen the amount of protein? Also, we've found that higher amounts of protein won't kick you out of ketosis, either... so, is there a sweet spot?
Only with protein supplements
Following this 🧐
Still aim for 0.8-1g of aiming to build and particularly if you get it from wholefoods rather including protein isolate powder.
I have 80-90g per day BUT I am underweight and short as well. It ends up that I have more than 1.5g per kg.
If you gave more protein than needed it will be used as energy or stored. The issues wirh traditionally high protein diets was kidney function. The negative effects found in this area were predominantly relayed to animal protein.
Protein also triggers IGF1 but this can be balanced with autophagy achieved through time restricted eating advocated by Thomas such as 16:8or OMAD.
Also, protein in general needs good stomach acid and adequate enzymes to digest and absorb it. Then you need stimuli on tour muscles to ensure the amino acids are used for muscle growth and maintenance.
Protein is not negotiable. Do not decrease it, especially if you work out.

what about the 15 nutrients you cant get from plants? A, B6,B12, D, F, K2, DHA, EPA, HEME-IRON, ALOT OF AMINO ACIDS ETC.....
Only b12 is a problem,
But you can take a pill per weak, not big deal.
Nutritional Yeast contains lots of B vitamins including B12. Also almost every vegan cheese/milk/butter substitute has B12. Also meat substitute have B12 there are some with cleaner ingredients. I’m vegan and stop B12 supplements.
They have to supplement. Supplements Thomas sells/promotes of course. It’s all about money
@@phanduah Nutritional yeast only has B12 if it's fortified, ie it's a supplement just like taking a pill.
There are no such '15 nutrients'. All the essential amino acids are available from plants. As are virtually all those Vits - either directly or via conversion - listed (due to modern farming methods even animals are supplemented with B12).
What’s up with your book?
Supposedly available March 22 now not available till April !!
Should vegans supplement with Carnitine while on keto? Carnitine is very scarce in plant foods. Will the body be able to endogenously generate enough carnitine to carry the heavy load of beta oxidation? 🤔
I'm no expert on Carnitine or individual amino acids but do I know (from chronometer) is that it's very easy to get over 100% of all the essential amino acids on a vegan diet.
@@childofeternity Carnitine is not an essential amino acid. It's not even one of the 21 amino acids.
I'm 3yrs keto on lacto-veg diet. Crazy, herbivores need keto more than omni's. The BS was that vegetarian was the best... it's becoming crystal clear our common enemies.

@No name Thanks - found her. czcams.com/users/HeavenlyFan
I’ve been doing vegan keto for 1.5 years
How do you stay under 20 carbs when all plant protein sources have almost as many carbs as they do (incomplete)protein?
At the end of the day, what works for you? That's most important. I've been vegan for 2 years and it's beyond Beyond Meat. I don't miss meat, I literally don't crave it, ever. I even tried eating boiled eggs for a week to break my fast and it left me bloated and feeling full for too long. My body adapted to a plant based life. It's pointless to go back. But I never say anyone MUST be vegan. Everyone is different.
Suggestions on vegan 🌱 or vegetarian protein that’s not off the charts high in carbs?🤔💚🙏
Super Firm Tofu (Wildwood), 70 grams of protein and zero net carbs per block
@@tp01864p soy is bad for males it’s too high in estrogen 🤫
Pea protein is a great protein. Broccoli. Really most leafy greens.
Interesting. What about our digestion system that isn’t set up for a plant based diet? We have a enzyme based digestion, not bacterial like a herbivore. The mountain gorilla has a large intestine that is twice as long as our and a type of a “chambered” stomach. They are set up for this.
The protein powder is HIGHLY processed. Why not eat what we are built to eat.
Your comment doesn’t make sense. Humans have gut bacteria and herbivores have digestive enzymes.
@@Gracious777
Adam and Eve eating greens in the Garden does not mean that God intended for us all to be Vegan since God preferred animal sacrifices.
God accepted the ram by Able and rejected the grains and greens by Cain.
The sacrifices were not for God to eat but to be used for the less fortunate among us and God encourages us to give of the best if we can as offerings to others.
Its undeniable that we did not descend from animals but we should not deny the obvious similarities that God has put in all His creations.
The similarities are just a sign that we all came from the same Creator like the strokes of a painter in his paintings.

Thomas, I appreciate your channel and have learned a lot from you. That said, it irks me that every time you mention "vegan" or "plant-based", you quickly follow up with the denial of being so. We know you're not vegan, but do appreciate those of us that are, so maybe it's not so necessary to disclaim it as though it is something to be ashamed of. Also, there's no need to harp on protein for vegans...we're doing just fine on that level.

Gonna guess... Vegetable oils are baaad news, but coconut oil is good.
Yeah, no. Unless you were bitten by that tick that make you allergic to meat proteins, I do not see any reason to go "vegan anything".
Every single amino acid and nutrient the body needs comes from primarily red meat. The amount of pea protein and other powdered supplements or lentils you would need to consume to equal red meat is bloat city.
Some have digestive issues with red meat
Pea protein powder causes major inflammation in my body. Meat please!
@@cat.nova74 I can’t digest red meat it causes severe constipation
@@JohnDHair - What you call "constipation" is actually the normal bowel movement in humans when they eat species appropriate foods without the junk. We are so used to BM every day or multiple times a day because of the plant compost we consume, we think that is a normal thing.
