I want to thank you for this awesome video. I just did this on my 20 hp 1972 johnson. I also could not find a bard that fit the threaded hole, but i was nervous about re-tappong the engine block so i used a die on the barb to size it down and it worked great. I took the boat out yesterday and it screamed! Thanks again!!!!

Best video yet, but I prefer your former sign off, rather than the dystopian music, Laissez Le Bon Ton Roulet. Oui Cher!

Was there a reason that you did not also install an inline fuel filter?
Cool video, the thought of there being aftermarket generic application fuel pumps just never occured to me.

      Sorry I don’t do powerhead work - I recommend finding a used one on eBay - $150 to $250

very good idea, I wonder how well does the pump deliver fuel on the engine at high speed? it can keep up with the demand? I just ask beacuse I did the arrangement, but with a fuel pump from a scooter, it looks smaller than the one you used, I must say, it works fine at low speed, but when I ask for more speed, it can't keep up with the fuel demand. got the same outboard, is a '71 9.5 evinrude. Thank for any comments.

I just did this on my 1972 Johnson 20 hp. I had no issues at high speed. This was an awesome idea!

    Hello T-Mike, I own a 1967 Johnson 9.5 ! Would this carbutor conversion work on my motor? It is a MQ-13 model.TIA!!!!!

Why would you drill and tap the hole when it appears to be already threaded?? Do they not make smaller threaded barb fittings.

I'd also like to know this. I have a 1972 20 hp. The thread is 5/16. I just ordered a 5/16 barb and the Kohler fuel pump. I'll let you know how it goes. Will be a few weeks until I splash it since I basically live in Antarctica (not really but close enough)

I have a 1965 6 HP Fisherman with a shot fuel pump. Can it be rebuilt/replaced or is there a Kohler model that I can retrofit? Thanks - your work is awesome!

I dropped the roll pin down in the engine compartment trying to install 0384597 Pinion Gear on a 1972 johnson 9.5 hp pull starter. How can I get it out?
