    Good info, here’s a man not giving someone half used parts on a rebuild. If this man says it’s rebuilt, it has NEW parts in it! This shows quality of character! This is the type of guy if tells you something, bank on it! I love your work, NO SHORTCUTS!

    I just did my carborator to my Johnson seahorse 7.5 model AD-11. I used your video for instructions. The only difference between your carborator and mine is that mine has a clear bowl on the bottom.

    This is a very good video, as he walks clearly through each step. Most people are a bit afraid of a carburetor rebuild, especially when they open the pack of new parts and see all the little washers and so forth.

    Greetings from Canada! Thanks for posting this. I needed a hand with my 1962 Johnson 5.5. It was my Dad's (he passed away a year ago). It was in his shed and I thought for his sake and memory I'd get it going again. Carb rebuild is the first job. Going to work my way around to the pump, thermostat, impeller and gears. Your video set me right. Merci!

    Thank you T Mike! This retired Navy Chief just rebuilt his first carburetor thanks to you and it cost me a 10 dollar kit on Amazon. The carburetor is now reinstalled back on my 1966 Evinrude Angler 5hp 5602C Motor that I picked up for 95 bucks. I really love your video's, please keep them coming.

    Hi Mike, Thanks for your informative video. I was just rebuilding by carb. on my FD-12 18hp Johnson following your instructions. I realized quickly that the carb looked slightly different than yours and when I took the bowl off, the original needle valve doesn't have a clip on it nor is it supposed to as it doesn't have a groove for the clip. I decided to use the same needle valve and screw since the new one was a bit longer. Then I realized the break out plug is a different size as the kit I bought. Have you run into that before with a slightly different carburetor and would you know the kit number for that one? Thanks so much.

    I have a 1959 7.5 Fleetwin and was just thinking if should change over to single line fuel sys for simplicity. Wasn’t sure if it was possible until you just confirmed my thought. My 12 yo grandson will be using the motor on his 14’ boat…. Thx for the i video. 👍

    Mike what is the oil to fuel mix ratio you recommend for the 57 7.5 ad-11 I get conflicting info because some say the newer oils dont require as much oil - please advise - thank you

    • @michaeljsimon
      @michaeljsimon  Před 3 lety +3

      Here is my rule - if it has a 2 line fuel system 24:1 / single line fuel system 50:1 - they switch to single line in 60s and crankcase upper bearings switched from brass to stainless - stainless required less oil.

    Just courious. How many times can this cleaner be used before it needs to be replaced? Do you ever have to strain it before reuse? Is it a good idea to do clean up job on the carb before putting it into the cleaner?

    Just wondering, but do carbs for 7.5 hp with dual line and glass filter bowl require a wire clip on
    the float needle? I have two of these carbs and neither one has the wire clip on the needle, nor does
    the original needle valve have a groove to hold the wire clip. Did these original Type 1 carb needles
    just work on gravity? The Sierra rebuild kit has the grooved needle and the wire clip. Thanks - great video!

    • @michaeljsimon

      @@michaeljsimon Wow - thanks for the quick reply. Just one more quick question, but if you were rebuilding this carb would you use the new needle with the clip, or just the needle (might not be heavy enough to work properly on gravity?), or just reuse the old needle? ok, a couple of questions.

    at 24:20 T-Mike mis-speaks and calls the top jet high speed, but that is low speed and the 1.5 turn is correct for the Low- speed jet adjustment.

    You keep calling the float seat that float needle sets in the main jet. The main jet is the long brass jet that installs in the main body. Sorry to be picky, but that may confuse some people.
