- Have you ever heard the saying, "curiosity killed the cat"?
Well, one cool cat in our AmSamFam crew almost let their curiosity get the best of them while trying to find the WATERFALL in AUTO, AMERICAN SAMOA.
Luckiily, our crew is still going strong and no amount of misadventures can keep us from adventuring around the island of Tutuila.
And next week... We'll be sharing a boat update to show you how we've been settling into our new life and what projects we've been able to complete.

for heaven's sake, be careful! that was some serious damage. but.... the beach at the end was truly sublime
Haha Yes, it was 😍🌊
Thank you for this footage of my village. Sucks you couldn't find the waterfall. 1st mistake was the road you took back. Theres actually another road to the right of the one you took that leads you back to a big open field and abandoned 2 story house pass that youd hike for about 20 mins back thru a taro plantation and then left up a step mountain for about 15 mins, then follow the trail to the right towards the waterfall sound and you would have made it in another 10 mins or so to the top of the waterfall. There is a smooth rock that we use as a slide that drops about 5 ft into a pool of water. Your family would have enjoyed it. Thank you all again for bringing back good memories. Alofas😊🙏
Am Fam always cool to watch the Amfam Show. One thing I noticed is how you all walked through the jungle in flip flops. Tru Islander.
Much Alofa AmFam.
I know right?! they could've asked the people who knows the village well.... sad that they didn't get to see the wonderful Waterfall of our village
Wow, those are great directions!! Wish we had known that on the day of 😊 Well definitely have to go back and try again, because that sounds like fun.
You may not have found the waterfall but you did the most important thing and that’s spending the adventure time with the kiddos outdoors and creating memories, no worries you’ll discover new ones glad y’all are safe and ended the day at the beach WHOOP WHOOP!❤️😊
That’s right! We made memories that we won’t be forgetting for a long time 😄
I love the fact that you guys venture out as a family. Sharing laughter and happiness together. 😊 Thank you guys for the content. Always looking forward to Watching a new video.
Glad everyone got back safely. Be safe Fam!
Awwww Nate, baby, you're not 18 anymore. You make me far more nervous than the children do on these adventures.
🤣🤣🤣
Hopefully by next year 2022, I'm PCSing back to the states with my family. I'm planning to come back home for a couple of weeks for vacation before I report to my next duty station. I would love to take you guys hiking on top of my village mountain. Also the National Park site. Praying for strength until then. Stay blessed fams.
The fact that the kids enjoyed themselves laughing when Nate fell can only mean that they're localized. Don't get me wrong though. We would be concern initially but afterwards, you cannot pass up a chance to get a good chuckle at someone else expense. All in all it looks like the kids had a good time. The end result makes up for not finding the waterfall.
💯 That’s right, as soon as we knew he was alive and nothing broken, I let the kids laugh all they wanted 😄🤣
The kids laughing at their dad was the cutest thing ever!
I’m glad you thought that 😂
Hey. It’s been a while since I’ve been here. I’m just glad that your ok, Nate. That’s was an adventure finding that waterfall even though you guys found just a little creek. Y’all be safe at all times.
Thanks! We’re trying 😊
Thank you for sharing your adventures, I'm from Auto n that was Mom lol sorry you guys couldn't get to see it, but there's always next time. Hopefully by then I'll be back n can at least clear a path
So cool! Please tell her thank you for pointing us in the right direction. If you get back and could help us find our way to the falls, please let us know. We’d love to give it another try 🤙
Wow, that was fun!
The flip-flop blow-out!
The disappearing trail, mosquito bites, spider webs, ants... your videos make my decades-old memories seem so fresh.
My brother and I tried to take the trail up Mt. Tau a week after my friend Masani had guided us to the top. It seemed to us no human had ever trod where we had only days before. It's hard to comprehend how thick and fast growing that jungle is if you've never seen it before. We couldn't find anything like a trail!
Lately I wonder about Masani. He enlisted in the Marines in 1970. He would be 70 now, from Nu'uuli (sp?) where his father was a matai. He had a sister named Ana. I wonder if he would remember teaching Samoan guitar to a palagi boy.
Thank you again for these wonderful videos! I hope to thank you in person one day after the pandemic is over.
What an awesome memory! And yes, the foliage growth here is incredible! I’ve never seen anything like it anywhere else.
We’re going to have to ask around and see if we can find anything out about this Masani 👍
Great video as always guys, keep on keeping on🤙🏽🤙🏽 ALOHA
Great vid....Ya'll have to get hiking friendly sandals with the back straps... just to be on the safer side.
Haha No joke!
Did it look like that scene from "Romancing the Stone" when they fell down the bank?? hehehehhe
Shoot, I’ve never seen that. Tell you what, I’ll have Nate try again and you can tell me if it looked like that 🤣
Glad y'all made it back safe and sound, sorry y'all didn't get to find that waterfall, but atleast you have made nice memories to laugh about it later..alofa atu..
Thank you for the best ever adventure with your family and kids are very proud of you all God bless you all.
Thank you 😊
What a crazy day! Glad Nate wasn’t seriously hurt. Hadley laughing. And you saying he didn’t wait for the camera. Hahaha you guys are brutal in a funny way.
Glad it came off as funny, not too insensitive 😬😄
@@AmSamFam I always say that that is how you know if you are young or old. If you fall and everyone laughs you are young. If you fall and people come running to ask if you are OK then you’re on the other side.
@@mac-sonnymiles31 haha, that’s genius 🤣
Hi Amfam family, Thank you for the nice video.
Great to see you guys having fun from Perth
haha, miss the riding at hte back of the truck lol
Love the adventure AMSAM Fam💪🏼💙
Thanks ❤️
Some pretty thick jungle there. You're right. Not all adventures are necessarily fun or comfortable but they are experiences you carry with you through life. Some good battle wounds, bruises, scratches, angry ant bites on back, legs arms. Good American Samoan jungle beat down. Do you see snake traps on island? Saipan had them to avoid getting them there. Guam had a snake problem.
I don’t think Samoa has snakes
Luckily we do not have snakes and I wish we never do
Yeah, as far as I know, we’re still snake free and hopefully we’ll stay that way. Nate definitely got a jungle beat down that day and each of us got at least a taste of it 😄
@@AmSamFam great memories. Those are the best.
Hilarious 😂. Love the vidoes.
Love great good spirits your family bless with..adventure is 🌎 choohooo ❤️
Love you guys !! 🤩😍👍🤙 Great family
Thanks 😊
Guys, I don't usually give unsolicited advice- but wear SHOES or boots when hiking. I know you have them because I have seen them in other videos. Flip flops are just not adequate for this terrain.
Haha, you’re right. You should see the locals here, if they had encountered this terrain, they would have just ditched the flip flops and gone barefoot 🦶
@@AmSamFam Yeah, my feet were really tough when I was a kid and went barefoot all the time. Don't know if I could toughen them up again, though.
GREAT VIDEO GUYS!! THAT WAS SOME CRAZY ADVENTURES 🤪😳.. KIDS WOULDN'T STOP LAUGHING AT THEIR DAD.. POOR DAD, I'M GLAD THAT UR OK..ALOFA ATU ❤🙏
🤣 They get it from him 🤷♀️
Thank you and good you made it back safe..always love to watch..your family is amazing🥰
Thank you! ❤️

Hi guys love the tropical greens on our beautiful Samoa! I'm glad no one was hurt! Love your videos!❤
Nate came away with a few scrapes, but nothing life threatening. ❤️
Ha ha hs... I'll take Nate tumbling down a mountain over a waterfall any day 😃. Thanks guys!!!
Classic 🤣🤣
This is great! The quest is the quest.
💯
Enjoyed the video, have fun guys.
Thanks ❤️
Go on and try another fun waterfall in fagaalu its passed through L.B.J Hospital
You all make see the island from a tourist point of view. I have lived there when I was younger but I never ventured as much as you are making see the beauty of it all. Thanks for sharing your adventures online. You make kind of homesick to be home but will have to venture out where you all went and try to see maybe one of the places.
Yes, you definitely should! It’s one of the things we love the most about this place! ❤️
Thank you for showing us a whole other side of Samoa as you always do. Probably be a good idea to take a machete along on your hikes. I hope that the Uso Nate is ok.
You’re so right!
Nice video! Y’all should try hiking on Tago land waterfalls in Nuuuli by shoe tree. Theirs a back road going all the way back to Tago land between western union at Nuuuli and shoe tree. I was raised there seen multiple waterfalls but it’s private land back in the the days just have to ask for a permission
Awesome video guys I'm glad nate is ok!be safe🙏😍
Thank you ❤️
love your family adventures! you guys are brave hiking that terrain w slippers, hope everyone ok.
Going into it, we weren’t sure what to expect. But honestly, we probably still would have worn the slippers 😄
Thanks guys wonderful adventure.... nate love you.your a great father❤️......
Awww, yes he is! He’s a good sport to be cool with everyone laughing at him like that 😄

Fagaalu water fall is the best behind the hospital in Fagaalu just ask around people that lives there tho
Not only have we been to Fagaalu falls, but we also made a video about it. Lol. It is a great water fall. We’re planning on heading back soon.
Have you guys been to Manu’a ?
Proud of y'all and thanks 😊 for the laugh 😃 😀 God bless and much alofas....
Haha Anytime 😂
@@AmSamFam there's a water falls I used to swim 🏊♂️ not far from where I used to live, I was born and raised in Pavaia'i, if you travel west side, just after you pass the college going uphill the first breach the only breach 😆 Park on the right you will be able to seethe river, you can hike 🚶♂️ up I don't know how far...ask anyone if they know where's the waterfall at,I don't even know the name of the waterfall..or you can drive like going to Mapusaga fou,it's about 1/2 or 1mile up there is the store on your right as soon you pass the store and the fence on your right side pull over after the fence and ask the lady name Migi her mom's name is Fulu,or any bodies that lives there if can help and guide you to the waterfall...be honest with you I don't know how it looks now,but in the days the beautiful waterfall...more beautiful when rain..God bless you all and much alofas from Maui

Yes, soon! Hopefully next time low tide’s at a good time 🤞
I know auto really good. There no water fall. Try out check out aleaga tisa bare foot bar. There a water fall. I know because I'm a real true aleaga
The mosquitos here are like Helicopters. I wont even mention the snakes.........
wow I didn't know American Samoa has snakes!! Even though I lived here all my life.. lol.. the only snakes I've seen here are shaddy people.. lol
@@tamaolemotu8951 No. Snakes in australia. I could be wrong but I've heard of snakes in Savaii though.......but no I was referring to snakes in australian bush and the city. and yes......people are snakes too. Especially government officials. hahaha
Oh yeah I've heard they have snakes in Savaii.. lol about the government officials..
@@tamaolemotu8951 not Nate though......he a cool Cat. and you current Minister is cool. The lady in W.Samoa. shes cool too.
@@spaceman5734 oh ok.. foshow!!
I know a good place in PagoPago you guys should probably check it out. It’s called the vai kage. It’s up by the EFKAS church, you can ask anyone in that area for guidance ✌🏽
Interesting… what is it up there?
It’s a stream where the military had there drinking water and what not. Now everyone in Pago use it for swimming 🏊♂️
@@juice0628 fun. Yeah, we’ll have to go give it a try 🤙
Go to tisa she Will tell you
If I come to American Samoa, are there trustworthy people I could hire on an hourly basis to take me to places I want to go on island ? I would pay well enough, but would want a flat fee for hourly or daily transportation.
For sure! You can easily get a rental car or take a public bus. Also, I can’t imagine anyone here getting you out away from the villages and mugging you or anything. There are your companies, or you can just ask some of the locals. We’ve had people offer to show us the way and every time it’s been a beautiful experience ❤️
@@AmSamFam THANKS!!
Well you never know if you dont go. Thats why I dont into the australian bush. a couple of times I did and ........the spiders are the size of rats here. hahaha Nate, you missed a tree bro.
Yeah, the spiders in Australia are no joke! 😳
