he missed a spot on painting the caliper :). I can't believe I am watching these videos in their entirety - this is my 4th restoration project video series. this isn't just BMW-specific teaching - this is how you should be teaching car mechanics. great job, enjoying every minute and I am totally latched to the screen. I can't believe I am binging on this :)
It's worth sending the old accumulator away to have it looked at. This is basically a Citroen system and recharging spheres is pretty common in that scene as long as the membrane hasn't been damaged. A Citroen specialist would probably be the best people to speak to.
Also my 1979 Mercedes 300D had d TD
1979 Mercedes had a similar accumulator reservoir for self leveling rear end
In my experience recharged spheres are never as good or long lasting as new ones and for the price difference I personally wouldn't bother unless there really wasn't an alternative.
@@slacko1971 Fair point. My idea was that since they are unobtainium for him, it would be good to have a spare on the shelf for if he really needs one. That would at least get him through until the next batch are made.
@@edkalsbeek1765 Yeah. I believe various companies have licensed the tech from Citroen. Incl. Rolls Royce.

Thank you Sreten for your inspiration, I bought a abused E60 530XD and revived it to it’s former glory. Maybe a bad investment but I love the E60 generation. I will be flying by with project bratwurst this weekend on our way to Italy, from the beautifull Holland!!
"Project Bratwurst!" Ik lach me suf ouwe! 🤣 Goeie reis! 👍
The Renaissance music was spot on with the Picasso painting😅
M539 is the BMW rebuild LEGEND!
This is by far my favorite channel on CZcams currently. You have inspired me to restore a neglected non-running Oxford Green e46 which is now serving as my daily driver. I like how you're doing your own unique format and don't use the horrible overused free music. Keep it up!
If you look inside the original BMW tool kit in the boot or 'trunk' you will find a metal piece with a plastic handle which is used to slot into the hub wheel bolts so it acts as a dowel so to speak, this will then assist you with when you put the wheel back so that the wheel bolt holes align with the holes on the hub👍
The E32 was my second car and made me fall in love with bmw i unfortunately had to sell it bc of money reasons but seeing you restore this beauty gives me indescribable joy
0:53 These 16" alloys are the perfect upgrade, a nice move from 15" and 17" doesn't suit these beautiful old 7ers. I thought alpina as soon as I saw them.

Brilliant. I genuinely missed you. I look every day for a new video. And man, when it comes out, my wife takes a back seat, my work takes a back seat....I have to watch it. Entertaining as heck, informative, it's the whole package! Thank you!
This is the only channel that I don't skip a single second of detail. Thanks Sreten for your wonderful work. I feel like we are old pals even though we have never met after having watched your BMW videos for so long.
Your musical director knocked it out the park with the euro beat and the whatever it was that was playing while you were painting what is ostensibly your Sistine Chapel.
Foliatec is great, I had it on my car. Still looks good after 7 years :D
Great to hear!
@Matthias Berke Got some quantification at all mate? No use saying something is junk without giving sources or reason.
@Matthias Berke Nice, be good to know why you feel that - seems a fair few positive responses so perhaps sharing your story could reveal the issue!
@Matthias Berke clearly a disgruntled ex-employee, who got fired for drinking on the job. Otherwise he would have just explained
Thank you so much for this, gonna get myself a pizza, nothing better than a video like this after finishing another semester ❤️
Those wheels are a massive improvement!
Hi Sreten, the old lower holder of the pressure accumulator you can glue to it without any issues with "MS-Polymer Montagekleber" or "MS-Polymer Kleb- und Dichtmasse" or "Karrosserie-Montagekleber" (it's this type of polyurethan-like glue in that 400ml Kartusche). That is absolutely sufficient and will hold longer than the rest of the car! Thank you always for your very interesting videos and wish you a happy new year 2024!
I do not often comment on videos - it's now the second time at one of your videos - but i really appreciate your content for a long time (since your first videos of the 8-series). It surely takes much time and effort to produce such long and good videos, but I think it's worth every single view which makes some bmw fanatic (like me) happy to see old BMWs becoming great again. Thank you for your content - keep on going!
3:18 Man totally agree, that looks beautiful!! Gorgeous new shoes
The 16" rims and tyres look neato on the older 7. Have a safe and nice day all. CHEERS from AUSTRALIA.
the mounting of the pressure accumulator looks perfect. better than OEM.

Now that's a proper 750iL with proper wheels! Great work Sreten, keep up!
Those who dont watch this channel is missing out. Love the content and the value this provides.
Pozdrav Sreten! The bad steering is often caused by a faulty Servotronic control unit not by a dead pump! You can easily check that and disconnect the control unit and stick the both connectors into each other. After a start you should have a full powered steering suppot again! Its an common issue! The unit is behind the leeft footwell speaker! Pozdrav from Zlatko with the 1,8 mio kilometers 750i ;)
So glad you are doing CZcams full time. Your Videos are like an addiction :D
Check the alternator the rectifier/regulator can back feed and cause a battery drain 👍
Yep - duff alternator is usually the cause. Clamp meter is very helpful for fault finding for this :)
Not sure why but your videos are very therapeutic to me ❤️
Who knew I'd get ocd car content and asmr all in the same video haha
I’ve had good results painting the uncoated brake disks with zinc spray. The color is not great but it survives the heat and keeps surface rust away for several years.
Wow, thanks for the tip, gonna try it!
Great! I have been looking out for a new episode. Even better because it is the E32, such a beautiful car. Love your choice of rims.
Clearly a mad genius and obsessive perfectionist. Such labor intensive work on brake calipers solely for the beautiful renovated appearance. I love it!
I believe that the purpose of the brake pressure accumulator, is that you still have full braking power in the event that the engine dies/cuts out. On normal brakes that use vaccum, the power is gone once the engine is off. Certain Audis had them in the 90s, and the part was known as 'the brake bomb'
I need to go back and watch the first 4 episodes again, this is gonna be sweet👍😎
"I wish I was Nick Blackhurst!" If you were, then your projects would still need finishing 6 years later (like Project Binky)
That can of brake cleaner is adorable. We have giant cans here with really high velocity spray as you will remember from your time in California. The peeps that have never been out of Europa Maximus may not be aware.
I am a simple man - I see Sreten, I hit a thumb up!

Perfect timing! Just finished work so time to watch. Been eagerly awaiting your next video - i mean what have you been doing for 2 weeks? 🤣
really appreciate all the time and effort you put into bringing us these fantastic videos, thank you
One of the best, if not the best CZcams channel. Great work!
Project Karlsruhe is by far my favourite of your project cars as i am doing the exact same restoration on my neglected 1988 e32 750il ( though very low mileage and almost rust free) it would never have run without the amazing videos and information you provide and you are 100% right every single time. My e32 was running rough, had bad cold starts and smelled like the bottom of a fish tank every time i started it. A complete restoration of the fuel system and igniton (following your guide) both made the job and the result joyful. From your perspective i assume 850ci and newer model e39/e60 gain more views, but the videos/tutorials you do on the e32's are second to none and cannot be found anywhere else on the internet and are therefore priceless to us. Keep up the good work, Sreten, and i hope i can get your tough but fair evaluation of my e32 some day.
Streten, I love your sense of humour! I had several big laughs during this video. I also love the rest of the content, so please keep at it :)
Your work is perfect for me! Your videos are the best on the youtube! Thank you!
You have no idea how helpful it was to see you rebuild the calipers from start to finish. I tried a similar project last summer and realized that not removing the calipers was a big mistake. Seeing your step by step process and how simple it was to replace the pistons, I wouldn't do it any other way in the future. The only thing that I would do differently is find a bench vise to hold the hardware while using a wire wheel so I could use both of my hands to control the electric tools. Also, your two stage epoxy application looked nearly flawless - way more successful than anything I achieved with caliper paint and a cheap brush. Excellent work as always, I feel like I learn so many practical tips and tricks from your videos that help me grow in this hobby.
I had this car 25 years ago, for three years. Bought it three years old. Within 3 years, I had to spend DM 950 for new brakes, what is pretty normal. Beyond this, a new light switch and a new windscreen washer pump, both for some DM 40.- each. And that´s it! It was a wondeful car. Fuel consumption of 16L/100km wa absolutely adequate.
>Starts his video with "buon giorno"

Hurray more E32 content! Well done as always :)
Having worked on BMW's for most of your life, I'd like to see some buyer guides for the various models you've worked on, and list the common problems with prices for getting them fixed, etc. With your first-hand experience I feel like it would be amazing. Also because you show us in each and every video what it feels like to work on something you at least have the idea of.
Thumbs up if you agree!👍🏻
on the topic of grease and rubber bushings on the brakes. The ATE instruction actually says to use grease to mount the rubber bushings on the OUTSIDE of the rubber bushings. The BMW repair manual is right here and its not contradicting to the ATE instruction. You already mentioned the reason not to use grease on the bolts, it collects dirt. The rubber bishings from ATE are made of a special rubber mixture including graphene as a dry lube. Other manufacturers (like autofren) dont have this rubber mixture with graphene, that's why I only use ATE or BMW bushings.
Hope that helps.
"Obsessed with OEM" You love to hear it
11:58 a bob ross quote would have been nice
ye i was thinking the Bob ross of caliper painting
I have an advice for you for the future.
Epoxy based paints are great for protecting stuff from coroding, but they also accelerate corrosion more than salt if they are overheated (over 200 degrees of Celcius). Because of that its pretty bad idea to use it on stuff that gets hot (like brake parts, colling of the engine and others). If I were you I would just use high temperature paint instead of epoxy. It should last quite a bit if applied as you did.
Other than that everything looks good, cheers!
I love the statement "this is what you gotta do to save these cars".
I'm very sentimental about my cars as well. I own 535i f10 and my baby 2015 M6. I've been searching for a nice e39 M5 but they are getting harder and harder to find and the prices are outrageous. I wish you were here in cali so you can help me wrench !

the brake pressure accumulator was also found on the e28 535i (m5/6, 5/633 as well), as now i have to deal with the problems of a punctured one. what's popular to do, though, as many e28 owners despise the hydroboost system, is essentially de-engineer it and install a vacuum booster after tapping a new bung onto the intake manifold.
The only content in YT that I don't care about the ads...
I've got so many problems on my head, but while i'm watching your video's, there are just bimmers and your freaky skills heh

Wheels are perfection!
Next video: Searching for a hot fuse with a thermal camera while weather in Germany is at 35°C
Nah, no need. Open all doors/trunk/hood. Let it fall asleep - 16 minutes. Then measure on each fuse with a Fluke. The fuse with high draw has the circuit with the culprit. Easy peasy! ^^
Sreten be like: its not OEM, its gona break.
Great step by step restoration of one more bmw...well done
So, still loving your editing style and addition of classical guitar music is cherry on kuchen! when you cleaned of calipers getting ready to assemble, where you sanding back to bare metal or simply smoothing the epoxy? Happy for your success! your my bob ross of bmw restorations!!
What do you think of the bmw e9x 335i with the n54 engine?
Be ready to refresh all seals and gaskets, plus rod bearings. Do that and itll be solid 👍
it's scientifically proven that red calipers increase braking effect by an additional 0.2-0.5 m/s²
You are living this life brother
One of the other channels I really enjoy is Handtool Rescue and the host uses Evapo-Rust which seems to really do the trick for rust removal. Considering how rusty many of those tools are it does an amazing job.
The sound of a properly running M70 is such beautiful mechanical music, so smooth and refined! They do have a very nice way of pulling forward like you're being pushed by the hand of a god from behind, just a very flat and consistent torque curve giving you seemingly endless acceleration. They might not be quick be today's standards, but damn it when they hit their stride they are LONG legged! They do shift smoothly too, wonderful driving cars!
Also, for a car designed in the 80s, heavy and with a 5 liter v12, they are NOT as thirsty as some people might think! Sure, they do enjoy gasoline, especially if your driving is spirited, but drive it sensibly and you can keep it well under 15 liters per 100 km. 12-13 on the highway is to be expected if it's tuned up and serviced properly, maybe even 11 if you're taking it easy.
Wonderful cars!
Just absolutely in love with this channel. I used to be deep in the E34 depths... but have since sold them all off and am driving boring reliable modern family cars. This channel brings me back to a time when I was single and let my passion for old BMWs lead the way. Keep it up, I just can't get enough. Cheers
I admire your work for refurbishing the calipers, done it many times but for 400 Euro you have 4 refurbished ATE units.. saves a lot of time :)
