Interesting that CZcams also recommends "Here's Why I'm Sending My Cheap Alpina B7 to the Junkyard: MECHANICALLY TOTALED" by Hoovies Garage......

Can we please all appreciate how Sreten always finds awesome Camera Angles and Lighting so we can take part in front of our Screens, while casually doing the hardest Car repair on earth as a self taught CZcams Mechanic. Sreten, you are one impressive individual! Lots of Love, you deserve the best!
Couldn't agree more. The quality of the coverage is excellent, as is the commentary. Respec, mon!!!
Yes
Couldn't agree more. The filming and editing on this channel is truly excellent and sets it apart from anything else I've seen on here in the same genre. I'm not a BMW owner and likely never will be, but this is the only channel I'm signed up to receive notifications from. Am actually considering supporting the channel through Patreon as an investment in my own mental well-being.
I love how my wife watches all these makeup and try on haul bullshit when she's doing stuff, but when i watch quality, manly, informative and actually entertaining content she's like "i dont get what's the point of watching a guy undoing bolts for 40 minuts"... Sreten, thank you for existing! this is just great.
🤣🤣
Reassure your wife that she looks bomb ass awesome in a workwear Outfit and with car dort ln her face so she won't need that facepainting and fashion shit.
Greetings from a woman that watches quality content like this instead of "what crapitalist fashion and makeup companies want me to watch"

Right. I get hell for it but if it wasn't for me watching these kinds of vids, her 7 series would been junk along time ago. Swear she thinks that thing just runs on hopes n dreams lol
Wow! good luck with your marriages
You are becoming THE CZcams legend ever. It is mind blowing how you boosted your channel with blood, sweat and tears.

@Tavarish will give you a break 4 being here, the 675lt reveal was super awesome. 🔥
Good to see you being a fan too!

How was driving the McLaren?
And keep your sticky fingers away from the only good german car CZcamsr.
Go play with the long pale one (Tylor). :)
It's just impressive how a self taught CZcamsr rebuilds a modern supercar engine more professionally than most shops do
Edit: please don't sell the E30
Shops are paid by the job done so it’s always more of a rush to get the job done than doing it right
I second this.
Same here, Love It 🥰😻
This isn’t a supercar. But yes, he does good work.
@@Rockardo_ All the shops I know get paid by the hour, it's themselves that put the price for every job based on how much time it'll take, if they're not professional and don't do things right it's their problem
You've really come a looooong way from posting videos on forums to becoming a full time CZcams hobby mechanic. The level of dedication, and the attention to detail is second to none. I really enjoy watching you repair these poorly BMWs and making them great vehicles once again.
Your landlord must be a great guy, always helping you with these projects one way or another! Hope you can keep that relationship healthy!
Some months ago I was thinking "this guy just has to learn how to open engines and fix them, then he's gonna be a real monster". Now I simply haven't words to describe how much you are determinated, smart and brilliant in your work. You have 110% of my respect, really. Hope you can fix this Alpina, you deserve it. Good luck!
Only a matter of time until BMW/Alpina try to hire him, at which point he’ll likely say no! :D
I've been working in this field for many years ago, and I've seen many very unprofessional guys and workshops too. But I've never would imagine that I will find an amateur, on CZcams, who will impress me so much through his dedication, passion, and wish to do things right. And that is worth much respect. I hope you will fully succeed with this project, because I can badly wait to hear the engine running perfectly and see your big smile on your face. I have a big respect for you as a person, just because you had the courage to quit, probably a very good job, and try to make a living from this channel, where unexpected bails and surprises can come at any moment. Everything else is just a very big bonus for me, and I'm sure, for many others.
Good luck, and see you soon 😎🍻
I don’t think he deserves to be called an amateur 😁 PS: of course, I know what you mean :))
I agree totally: my only very minor concern is for the life of the ratchet tools: when fastenings are initially 'cracked off': use a bar rather than a ratchet drive: swap over to a ratchet once the fastening has loosened.
This channel is in top 10 easily wrenching/automotive channels.Top tier content. For a guy who isn`t a mechanic for profession( IT, i understand is his job) hi does a very well job.Good job Sreten, keep up the good work.Looking forward to see what will happen.
Since I've retired I love doing up engines car, lawnmowers, strimmers etc because I do them in my own time without have a service manager screaming why is it not done on time with ridiculous time books that are never correct in the real world, every mechanic knows what I'm talking about, I love being in my garage at night working listening to the radio ,so keep up the good work and enjoy the bm engine do everything correct and you will give your self a great sense of achievement when it's done
Honestly, your dedication to actually fixing things properly, in a professional manner with an engineer's precision sets the bar much higher in your youtube genre. I hope you can pull this project through and make it work, that would be such a sweet happy ending.
I think you need some help these builds look harder and harder. Your dedication is astounding. It is fascinating to watch and very enjoyable. Nothing is for show. 100% genuine hard graft. Awesome!
Second that! Awesome work! Awesome build. No cutting corners with shitty solutions.
@@nickedwards8418 it's not the complexity so much as the cost. He's using quality parts and official tools! It's just expensive.

Hope that the Alpina will come to your channel too :)

Sreten, I've watched this one with my 10 years old, clearly a significant learning curve for you and for the viewer. My son can see what passion, learning, hard work, professionalism and organisation (your are so organised!!) can do, and how fun it can be. I am very impressed, thank you. @@alexlucian9598 Either way it's gonna be a journey
@@DaJohnBlack piece of cheese cake😁😁😁
Oh it's a shame that you have removed the pistons. I rebuild m62 engines. They suffer from the same issue. Too much carbon build up on pistons and top of the liners causes the scratching because it basically makes the tolerance much too tight
The crank looks good on the video, find a tutorial on how to polish a crankshafts. Most of the professional garages do this by hand! Seriously. It's faster and gives amazing results. You don't need it to be done by professional. Also scratches like this would not cause any problems in long term. I would expect another 300,000km if it wasn't touched. Just polish it yourself.
Did you measure the compression?
Give this bax442 post a thumbs UP so Sreten see this. 👍
Holy shit yes. This needs more votes. SRETEN LOOK AT THIS
If that was the case, why would there be scratches on the main and piston bearings? It would appear that foreign particles made it inside from poor maintenance habit. Are these engines the ones that BMW recommended 15K miles oil change intervals? Roughly 2~3X what it should really be? That's been proven to be absolute nonsense, and would be ok for a mid performance 4 cylinder. But a supercharged V8?
Carbon build up isn't hard enough to cause that kind of damage. Carbon breaks down into micro particles under mechanical pressure that are then filtered through the oil system.
The compression data on this engine is addressed on the video.
Golden.
Yes, he should have done a compression test. Would have saved time and $.
Impressive! I’m glad to have found your YT channel. Very detailed, educational, great camera footage, humor, doing things right, and so on.
People often ask me where I get my endless patience from and I always tell them it’s from working on older BMWs and teaching myself how to do things along the way. It’s a big investment but they reward you when they’re running/driving properly. Unfortunately my test drives can’t be done on the Autobahn but I’ll get there one day! Keep up the great work!
The "cold rev" delivery guy did it 😆Good luck with the rebuild!
My thoughts exactly. Send his company an invoice for the new block and crank.
No engine could be so poorly engineered (or lets say overengineered) so that a single rev from cold would break it... oh right
@@whette_fahrtz I bet they would tell all their employees not to rev cold engines after that
Although repeated cold revs over a number of years probably would
I came here to blame Mr McRevvit. If he was willing to do that in front of the customer, I bet he limit bashed it for a long while when he picked it up.
Not sure if happy or sad… Sad for you having to spend so much time and money on fixing this car, but very happy for us, because this means a lot of content and hopefully several hours of wrenching videos! 😅

"Had to go to the software store to get bolts"....that was funny dude. Your videos are like a movie. I dont even own an alpina but am enjoying
Bummer man. You can always run 'er till she blows lol.
Thats what i would have done, got ran low on oil but not for very long.
Thats what I did with a 320d I bought a while ago that then revealed a knock when I warmed it up the first time. It had good compression, burned no oil, never failed emissions test, ran like new. It died 6 years later when I blew the turbo, stupid beginner mistake. So I opened the engine and the knock turned out to be piston slap from a dented piston and scratched cylinder, probably due to a tuning chip some pre-owner had installed years ago. The knock was annoying but Im pretty sure that thing would still run perfectly fine had I not killed the turbo.
The 46 legend himself! Thank you for saving me thousands of dollars in labor. Love ya man
Yes, but I would prefer it dying at once so I know that's the end of it and not dying slowly, which would be a headache.

When it comes to project cars, something I always try to keep in mind: "if it was easy, everybody would do it." _Everybody_ wants a cool, fast, unique, special car, but most people still drive boring beige econoboxes, because it's not _easy_ to create, operate, and/or maintain a legitimately cool, fast, unique, special car.

Ooof, those scores look pretty bad, but i had similar in mine. Managed to get them re-honed and didn't need anything more than some fresh rings.
A suggestion would be get a good set of scales so you can check all rods and pistons are matched, and if not, get it balanced down to 0.1g for the rods and pistons and make it even better than OEM. My 330i's just had it's engine balanced and we found the pistons were rather unbalanced, 7 grams difference between them!. So we've got it all dynamically balanced, the idle is super smooth now. Have got videos if you want to see.
afaik you can't really hone alusil blocks. It'll just screw up the coating and then you have a big problem.
@@pfannkuchengesicht42 You can, but the process requires special chemicals/abrasives. I didn’t end up doing it during my S62 rebuild, as my bores and pistons were fine, but there are companies out there that can do it.
On Monday, I'm taking the block to BP-Motortechnik and he'll try to ever so slightly hone the worst cylinder and if that works, the block is saveable and I can just have pistons coated to match. So we'll see, fingers crossed.
@@pfannkuchengesicht42 There is no coating on Alusil blocks. Alusil is an alloy which mainly contains aluminum and Silizium (I think silicon in english, but I'm not too sure). The honing process requires a special paste for the last step, containing some sort of acid which removes the aluminum and only maintains the silicon crystals as a sliding surface for the piston.
The only issue you might come across, is to not beeing able to source oversized pistons!
@@M539Restorations How many cylinders will that car have in transit? 😆 V16? V18? V20?
