Gotta import almost everything 3D now lol but at least there's still a release.

Hi Shanks. Good to hear your thought on this. My copy's due to arrive in a day or two. I've only very occasionally found much in the way of relevant disagreement with you in the way we see 3D (*cough* Tron Legacy!), but I thought Shang-Chi was genuinely sensational in 3D, an absolute treat and easily justified its £70 price tag, more so than Black Widow for example. So, I urge you to give it another try, maybe have a fiddle with your TV settings to suit it best but, seriously, I think it was an excellent 3D conversion of material highly suited to the format. And, I agree, the state of 3D Blu-ray is dire - but we'll carry on doing our bit to make sure its life-support isn't switched off... Cheers.

Thanks for sharing! Loved Shang-Chi 3D! Eternals was pretty good, I'd give it a 7.5/10 for 3D strength. Both worth importing for me!
Shang-Chi was more like an 8+/10 for 3D strength for me. The bus fight was GREAT, the scaffolding fight was jaw dropping... plus the pop-outs (rings, etc) were such a treat. We didn't see many pop-outs in Eternals, I found the 3D strength mostly medium, with some strong shots during fights and flight sequences which were awesome.
The strongest 3D titles in my collection are by far the Golden Age movies like Inferno, Sangaree, and natively shot modern titles like Gemini Man, as well as the animated movies by NWave, like Son of Bigfoot, thanks again!

3D IS the superior format! Very well said! I’ve seen so many movies in 3D and then in 2D and it was a completely different experience 😮

    Let's hope Avatar 2 brings a 3d resurgence

I think the 3D really works for this movie. Mainly during the action. As far as price, I don’t care. The subtitle issue does hurt this title for a lot of people, but there are a few fixes. One, just watch with the subs on. However the opening text crawl is still unreadable.
The fix I found was to rip the movie twice. Once without subtitles, and the second time with the subtitles hard coded to the transfer. I used DVDfab. Then I edited the versions together so the subtitles match the appropriate dialogue and sign language. As far as the opening text. I just ripped the English version and converted it to SBS 3D like the rest of the movie. Export to 4K for max bit rate and fidelity and there you go.
Tedious I know, but it works. I rip all my 3D discs to a hard drive so I can watch them in VR.

I also collect 3D movies, and I played with the idea at the time of getting both Black Widow and Shang Chi. I don't think that, for that price tag, is really worth it. Plus, I believe that all of these are Region A, or at least it says so on the back cover, which is kinda strange as I understand 4K and 3D discs are always Region Free, no matter the country they come from. Plus, the subtitles thing, no switching aspect ratio IMAX scenes (Disney really dropping the ball on that one when they decided to make that a Disney + exclusive, screwing over us physical media collectors), and, as you said, the insanely huge and unjustified price tag. I'm afraid that until Cameron resurrects the format with his Avatar sequels, the format, at least on home video, is pretty much dead.

I have all phase 4 films from Japan in 3D (Black Widow/Eternals/Shang-Chi & Multiverse of Madness). They have region A printed on the disc but they are region free as I use them on a UK PS3.

I’m wondering if your comments are specific to the 3D experience alone or if it’s a combination of your impressions of the 3D and the story/acting.
I think Shang-Chi was pretty bad. The CGI and story were terrible. I haven’t seen it in 3D.
I enjoyed Eternals. We don’t go to theaters so my experience was at home, which likely helped…along with my love for the comics. Again, I have not seen the 3D version but it’s good to know you dug it. So, thanks for the review.
    I haven’t seen Spidey at all. 😔

Specifically the 3D, but I really enjoyed the story as well. The CGI is bad in most Marvel movies 😂

      @@shanksranks5823 (I’m just seeing this.)
I’ve heard people say that. I don’t find it all that bad - often very good.
      This was notably awful, imo.
