I think the problem is Trae can’t be the best player on your team and unfortunately unless you are top free agent market it’s hard to find that player without the draft.

Trae launches like he's Steph, when he's not even a great shooter. He's got a 2:1 AST:TOV ratio, which is middle of the pack. Trae is Atlanta's ceiling.

title contenders is a stretch but adding an efficient 20 points from Murray, really good playmaking and good defense (he can focus more on the defensive with the Magic) since they have Suggs whose a really good defender, Banchero and Wagner are also good and Wendell. Magic would be a bonafide playoff threat, but they’d still need a major upgrade at Center to be Finals Contenders. WCJ is just ass as a starter; they really need someone like Turner.

Plus, the likelihood of Weltman actively trading for a small guard is not in this/his team building makeup. Cole Anthony is an outlier, but is hyper important to the developing culture in Orlando. Trae would benefit with Orlando’s defense, but he’s still getting targeted in the playoffs. Murray at least holds his own. Getting Trae while keeping WCJ as the starting Center might result in a slightly better regular season, but they’re getting thrashed against better team with size (Celtics, Embiid, Knicks, Lakers, Nuggets).
The Spurs could gain so so much from the Hawks downfall. The Hawks failure (unless the Spurs are stupid enough to trade the Hawks picks), could lead to Wemby having the most stacked young squad to build around with multiple picks each year, especially when you consider the Spurs are lottery lucky, and that 2025 and 2026 are stacked drafts with other generational players
I couldn’t agree more on your points on this video. Hawks are a middle of the pack team which I call NBA purgatory. Not good enough to be great not bad enough to tank. But they need to move on from Trae Young. Murray is a good 2nd option I believe. Once Hawks find their first option with other core pieces like Okungwu, Johnson and Bey they will look better. I think Deroxan would be a more natural fit but they most likely not contenders with him

They've actually been removing talent and assets each season without replenishing anything because the Hawks front office is very incompetent They salary dumped Collins, they overpaid for Murray who's a bad fit with Trae, players are not progressing in talent but regressed, injury prone, no new talent, small roster.
