@@MrE_what team is going to beat them in the first round? They're likely to end as at worst a 3 seed, so what teams in the bottom half of the playoff picture do you envision beating them?
Conley made it 100% clear that it takes a year to learn to play with Gobert. It took them a year to get really good. Seems pretty simple. This is why playing with Wemby was such a struggle for Spurs in the beginning and now its looking much better. These giants adjust the entire way you play to them, how high you need to throw the ball, learning how to help lead to them so they can block guys. Its really just about chemistry
Not at all true. Kat was always a floor spacer. The Cavs have two guys who can't space the floor. The Cavs have no plan, Wolves at least had an idea for a plan. Cavs still need to trade one of their big men
I am delighted at the Gobert turnaround. The criticism they took for the Gobert deal was gigantic and unjustified as proved by them this season. Happy to see the critics proven wrong 😊
I've come around on Rudy. He ended up getting way more flak than he ever deserved. That said, it was definitely an overpay by the T-Wolves to get him. I don't think any other team in the league would have been willing to pay anywhere near what they did to land him so they weren't paying market value for him.
I think the turning point came with letting Antman lead the team. KAT's a great talent but he's not a great leader. This is Ant's team now and looking a hell of a lot better for it.
Karl-Anthony Towns is an underrated NBA player. Although he tends to be overshadowed by Nikola Jokić and Joel Embiid, Towns is one of the best centers in the modern NBA.
I honestly didn’t understand the slander last season. Kat only played 29 games. Even though they clearly couldn’t figure out how to play together the talent was there the entire time
They looked at Ant and Rudy and called us the Jazz 2.0. Yet we have taken all the Jazz guys and rehabbed their careers. As well as putting the Rudy is a bad defender to bed. We have FAR SUPERIOR perimeter defense than Utah ever did.
Off topic from the video but Ant is like the most entertaining player in the league hands down like the crazy shit he pulls in game every game is just mind blowing so much fun to watch, this is coming from a celtics fan.
Minnesota has really come around, but they still gave up way too much for Gobert. They’ll will need some of those picks down the line, as they lose players to FA and attrition.
Tim Connelly built the Denver Nuggets into the contenders they are. Now he's doing the same for Minnesota. It starts with a competent front office and management.
Ant sometimes when under pressure dribbles into double or triple teams and tries to force the shot instead of finding the easy kickout. Regarding the Gobert trade, Mn already had two #1 draft picks and was a playoff bound team. They decided they did not need 4x late first round draft picks, and instead wanted *veteran* top level talent. They REALLY got lucky getting Conley. I would wager they will NOT trade Towns or Gobert, they are in it for the long haul with this lineup imho.
Anyone who actually knew what they where talking about saw this coming Last year yeah they where the 8th seed with KAT missing 50+ games, Rudy was dealing with some kind of back injury all season and had his worst season Plus ANT was gonna take another jump this year A healthy KAT and Rudy plus ANT was always gonna be a top 5 team in the NBA
This is what the Gobert signing was supposed to do. Make them legit contenders. It’s more a case of them drastically underperforming last season rather than over performing this season.
No ones gonna say this, but KAT had everything to do with this winning. Because of him Anthony Edwards stopped eating KFC. Then BOOM championship they go.
It looks like wemby is going to be a top 10 d on to himself here shortly as well. Tho wemby does not look like you can go small and run him off the court. He looks like he can move his feet a little bit. He also is gonna be a beast offensively.
No one even had them in the top 6. A good number of ppl were even saying they’d finish 11th and miss the play-in. Predictions are hard and I don’t want to pretend otherwise - in the West, at least one solid-looking roster was going to miss the play-in - and it turns out it will be MEM, who has clearly suffered the most from injuries and suspensions. But still, no one was even close about the Wolves
NOBODY saw this coming ... means YOU didn't see this coming. You (and almost all media aside from local MN media) completely ignored the fact that Towns missed a majority of the season last year. And that Rudy came into the season not at 100% due to his French national team responsibilities. This is due to the national media, you in cluded, treating those two players in particular, as if they are completely irrelevant. The national media works SO hard to tell us who to root for. Also downplayed was the additon, late in the year, for Mike Conley and NAW. D'Lo was not a good fit. People worry about our loss of draft picks. It could hurt, but we have already shown we can find productive players in the second round or who were undrafted. A greater worry is the second apron.
Tbh they could just as easily loose in the first round then just continue to be a mid team. We can’t say if Gobert Trade was a disaster until it’s over or unless TWolves get a title
TC came from denver, he knew the monster that is jokic, that's why TC went with 2 bigs... Has anyone else noticed these youtube guys are no more knowledgeable than you or I?
They did get fleeced. They could have got Rudy for less than the extortionate price they paid. Being overpriced doesn't mean the product is automatically bad.
Not quite title contenders tho. Teams gotta go through their lumps. Dallas has a better chance to win it all this year imo cuz they’ve been to the west finals with their star, Minnesota hasn’t gotten out of the first round
Anthony edwards is a top 3 player in the league in the playoffs. Look at his numbers from the 2 years he’s been in the playoffs and jazz have had Trouble in the playoffs not Rudy. Rudy’s numbers never fell in the playoffs. The jazz perimeter defenders sucked. And kat has isn’t built to be the number one option in the playoffs which he isn’t anymore so don’t think he’ll have any playoff problems
I feel so much better, I said last season the Twolves were a team built to win a ton of regular season games and I looked like an idiot. 😂😂 I feel slightly vindicated. 😅
Timberwolves fan might not like what I'm gonna say but Wolves might probably the easiest 1st round match up for the 5-10th seed team in the West.. I hate to agree with Draymond because I hate him but I wish my team plays the Wolves in the 1st round.. I definitely don't like to play against the Nuggets and the Clippers.. Between OKC and Wolves the Wolves is the easier team because: 1. They are not a good offensive team. 2. They are not a good team in the clutch (like how they lost to Kings last night) 3. Their success in the regular season is because of their defense which mainly because of Gobert but it's proven by the Clippers and Dallas that you can take advantage of Gobert in the playoff. 4. They are inexperienced in the playoff.
Just as some counter arguments 1. Do agree Timberwolves arnt great offensively around average for the season but as of late think we’ve been either a top 8-5 team on offense so it’s ramping up 2. Also agree, we arnt great in clutch unless one of our players takes over such as ant, kat, or Conley 3. Though gobert is for sure our defensive anchor we have great perimeter defenders which should help out gobert come playoff time Unlike Utah where the defense was solely on gobert, Timberwolves have also bested the clippers small ball line up already but we’ll be able to have another look at the matchup today. 4. Timberwolves have a lot more experience compared to the thunder
It's because of perimeter D in the past, he can't have a crazy load that's why even his stats were a bit padded in Jazz and he got unnecessary criticism
I remember Kevin peltons projections had wolves finishing 1st in the west and everybody laughed at it
Cause you can’t lie ain’t no one seeing the t wolves be better the nugs or thunder but all to them
I respect tucker for acknowledging he made a mistake about the gobert trade. I hope Minnesota gives us a title run.
Honestly I’m glad we were all wrong. Ant is so fun to watch. I’m glad he has a team that will allow us to enjoy him in the playoffs

Offensively maybe. But he’s also low iq, and high turnover prone with some bad defense and rebounding
facts
he isnt a center bro
They play like a mid 90s early 00's team defense and smashing the ball in the paint
Jaden McDaniels & Rudy Gobert INSANE DEFENSE 💪🔥💪

Until the wolves prove themselves in the playoffs.. I'll consider them Western Conference 2013-15 Defense oriented Hawks
KAT wanted to play power forward too
I definitely saw this coming

Yeah, they definitely overpaid. Wolves traded more than it took to get KD or Kyrie
But Rudy was necessary bc KAT is so bad on defense
I'd give way more credit to mike conley personally

Honestly Kessler would have filled the same role while still having the draft capital
Kessler is looking like a backup at this point. He was awful with team USA when he got playing time
Nope. He is a great talent but he is not on the same level defensively as gobert as of right now.
I think theyre the biggest frauds in the league. They wont make it out the first round imo.
Bro grow your beard back out and put the hat on. You look 25 years older with a shaved face

Gobert always looks amazing in the regular season.
Playoffs, he ALWAYS gets exposed due to his lack of offense.
That and he is only good if he’s allowed to camp the paint and a help defender. Once he’s forced to step outside his contort zone he gets exposed
