Spanish Tricks for Surviving the Spanish Summer

- For those of you who summer in Spain, the balmy heat is probably welcome. But if you're new to living here in southern Spain, you'll need these proven tricks to survive without breaking the bank.
I come from a steamy environment -- the Texas Gulf Coast -- so I am no stranger to hot summers. But I never had to rely on anything more than the air conditioner to cool me off. As you can imagine, I ran up a considerable electricity bill my first months here.
Over the years, I learned by observing what the Spanish do to stay cool by other means, and in this video I want to share these ideas with you! Not only do they save you money, but they work with nature rather than against it.
You might want to think about, for example, changing what you eat with the seasons. Here I tell you exactly what we eat here in the summer to stay cucmber-cool.
We'll discuss how to use those awnings and shutters your apartment has and whether or not people actually have a siesta.

My first time in Sevilla, mid August, I just leave the train station and ask to someone some indications to go to my hotel, his answer: quieres el camino más corto? O por el que vas por la sombra? 😂

@@deamericanasmaneras yo lo llevo 365 días al año, uno nunca sabe en invierno cuándo vas a entrar a un sitio con la calefacción a 45C y tu vestida con el jersey más gordo del armario (ejemplo: en el metro)

Viviendo en Sevilla te recomiendo que hagas un vídeo desde la localidad de Carmona, lucero de Europa, y pruebes las famosas tortas inglesas de sidra, y también las encuentra de chocolate y de crema pastelera.
Ahora preparate para subir cuestas, Carmona de plana nada, veras como la torta inglesa la eliminas por los poros de tú piel.
Esté pueblo sólo está de Sevilla a 33 km.
Asta el 40 de mayo no te quites el sallo un refrán muy español cuanta sabiduría en el refranero español😂😂
Depending on the location, humidifiers can also be useful. But that depends on the location: I've got A/C in Barcelona and I use it more in "drying" mode than for cooling or heating!
And in extremis, a good botijo, but it can't be completely painted because then it doesn't work: what cools the water inside is microevaporation through the pores in the clay.
I just use after-sun (preferably with aloe vera) as my body milk, year-round. No need to have multiple bottles.

@@deamericanasmaneras Another tip that I have is leaving your house before noon and after 21:00. Bars with AC are a must, like Courtney said....but you might have to bar hop to feel cool. Also, misty umbrellas at bars are a godsend.
Going out later? 23 degree at 3'o cock in the morning is alot better than 35 degree at 8
