- Tom Swarbrick hears from caller Gary, who lives in Essex but drove to Middlesbrough on the weekend to take part in a riot, which he says was ‘to demonstrate anger at immigration rules.’
At the protest, cars were set on fire and police had missiles thrown at them. Local police confirmed 35 arrests have been made so far in relation to the violent disorder.
Gary says people from the Middle East and Asia ‘are the main culprits of causing grief’, only to be called out by Tom on ‘white people causing grief by protesting, looting and throwing bricks.’
Tom goes on to question Gary over whether he thinks public sector workers who are black or asian are also ‘lawless’ as Gary describes.
The call finishes with Gary saying he does not think he should be arrested because he had a plasterboard that said ‘get illegal migrants out. Get our country back.’

I'm surprised by the comments section. As a black man, every comments section I see on videos like this are people in favour of this guy. It's refreshing.
Being born into England, working, paying taxes, never stabbing anyone, looking after my family it's tough seeing people chanting for you to get out of their country because of what one person did who happens to have the same skin colour.
I hope you know that most of us are very glad you are here. British people of all colours belong here. And, what's more, immigrants from everywhere are welcome as far as most of us are concerned. This guy is an outlier, trained by the gutter press and the gutter government to blame all his problems on others. It's sad that he can't think critically and dismiss the rhetoric.
I remember having an argument with white friend of mine about how most of us can be traced back to a country outside of the British isles at some point. He was incensed and claimed til he was blue in the face that all his ancestors are from Wales. His surname's Moses btw 🤣🤦♂️.
The vast, vast majority of British people don't agree with this caller. The problem is, as a black person it takes very few people to make you feel like that's not the case

I thought I was going to feel angry watching this, but I mostly feel sadness. This man clearly lacks the intelligence to think critically, yet he and his pals are able and willing to cause such harm and fear. I can't believe we're in this situation in 2024. I really lament the fact that many people like him still can't comprehend that all people are people and that we get more from being kind to each other than we do from not.

They claim that we’re taking their ‘jobs’. Which jobs are they talking about? Many of us had to study hard take countless exams to qualify for positions we were overqualified for. Many of us that were doctors had to come over here to retrain again and happily took on jobs as cleaners so that we could afford to live whilst we studied. My mother worked three jobs and my father who was a qualified chemical engineer worked as a security guard because he was racially abused when he worked as an engineer in the 80s. They love to blame us for taking things away from them but unfortunately we do not have that privilege.

My grand uncle got a Victoria cross for his service in WW2. The Queen awarded it to him...he was featured in the paper too. However I got sick of this country 6 years ago and have moved. So glad I did. The recent riots and on going media, corporate and institutional biases far out shadow these medals etc. Maybe in 50 years UK might make some positive progress.

As an Asian grew up in UK. I can tell you what we did for the UK economy us so called "Asian"
1. We paid 15000 quids on an average for a school term from school to college to Master; do thr math. How much we as an Asian had make an input.
2. We do not entitled for any Gov fund, pensions, etc no benefit will be received.
3. We paid for flat, foods , etc
4. We opened a businesses; job for locals
Asked yourself what input you had done for the country apart being born and breed there before putting blame to the Asian communities. It wasnt ours faults that we aim higher than you by went to college and have an entrepreneur spirit.
