Ride the Lightning has by far my favorite guitar tone of any Metallica album. Yeah, the overall production on the black album might be objectively superior, but there's a certain balance between the rawness and the clarity here that appeals to me in a way I can't really describe. Also, I appreciate the subtle composition changes you made. Makes the nearly spot-on tone even more convincing. Well done.

This is sharper and cuts harder than the original, but the original is heavier and thicker than this version. I'd say I prefer the original by a bit but both have their strengths. Either way, fantastic work and thank you for creating/uploading this!

I can't say I'm more than a casual fan, but this is the definitive version for me. I had always felt the original had missed something. This delivers in every single way.
The previous version sounded a little more like listening to a worn-out cassette of RtL over the car stero, which is the historically correct way for the album to be heard. Love the gratuitous bass boost of the remaster though.
Now was that planned because as a kid my ride the lightning tape was well work out so always thought that was why ....does have ther ring feel

Jesus christ, after hearing that opening riff I was hooked bro. Rtl is probably my favorite old school metallica record, and this video made me realize that the tone was a big part of that.
Also, I feel like this song would have been in its origional faster version if it was on this album (with the more distorted bass as well)
